Remote session was disconnected because there are no terminal server licensing servers available

Remote session was disconnected because there are no terminal server licensing servers available Hi, Yes, I know there are many posts on this. What's different about this one is that it is a Windows 2000 Server/TS issue with just on particular XP client. In other words, any number of other clients work fine except a particular XP client machine. Perhaps this should be posted and the XP forum though if anyone can help I would be grateful before I reformat! Many thanks Piloo

Re: Remote Desktop Client password prompt 2x Scot, did you just uncheck the setting "Always prompt for password" on the TS or did you go with GP? I tried both with and neither has worked. Dave "Scott Arnold" wrote: > Thanks! That was the issue. > > Scott

Creating a GPO for TS lockdown
by Guest Noncentz303- 5 replies
I created a test OU and added a GPO to lockdown TS. I added each TS to the OU and also a test user was added to the group. But when I go to test my TS to see if the changes I made are working it seems as though my GPO never worked at all. Does anyone have a link to a tuturial that can accurately help me create a GPO for my TS so that all users sessions are the same I was using: http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/7b33dcd6-0ad2-44e8-82f8-962425b6cf8e1033.mspx?mfr=true Thanks Much Antony

Hanging Explorer Service Pack 2
by Guest Appie1981- 3 replies
Hi, I have the following problem: When i install Service Pack 2 on a Windows 2003 Standard Terminal Server browsing on it gets really slow. Sometimes the explorer hangs for about a minute while other times everything seems normal. If i uninstall SP2 everything works normal again. I've tested this problem on a HP DL380G3 and 2 SunFireX 2100 servers. The load of the servers is low, the cpu usage is most of the time around 2% and the RAM Usage is around 300Megs. The servers have 4GB RAM. Is there anyone who is familiar with this problem? With kind regards, Albert van de Schootbrugge

Mandatory TS user profiles... Admin rights
by Guest Noncentz303- 8 replies

The lowdown- I have been tasked with setting up our TS enviorment so that when a user logs on they have limited access to the desktop and startbar. From what I have read this can be accomplished with TS user profiles. We have a SBS and 2 TS "TS1 and TS2" I am new at this but this is what i have accomplished so far: I created a new GPO and a new OU for TS1 and 2 -I created a shared folder on TS1 called TSProfiles -I created a test user and added it to the new GPO -I enabled loopback processing -I enabled admin security group to roaming profiles -Set the path for TS roaming profiles :\\TS1\TSProfiles * appends username Then I went to my test user and s…

Windows Mobile 6 TS Idle Timeout Issue
by Guest SPB- 11 replies

I am running several sites that use PDAs for a Point of Sale Application. That said I am using a WM6 RDP client to connect to a Windows 2003 Server TS Server. Although I have: 1. Set Idle Session Limits to the Maximum (Never) through the Group Policy Editor 2. Disabled Screen Savers through the Group Policy Editor 3. Enabled KeepAliveEnable in the Registry 4. Set the KeepAliveInterval to 1000 in the Registry 5. Set the KeepAliveTime to 7200000 in the Registry The clients still disconnect after 10 minutes (or sooner) of idletime. If the user is using the handheld "terminal" consistently everything is fine, however if left idle the RDP client discon…

by Guest John F Kappler- 4 replies

Hi all! We have SBS 2003 R2 controlling a smaill domain and 10-15 users. We have some remote user who we would like to give access to an SQL application that lives on the SBS box. After various discussions on the SBS group we have pruchase an additional box, plus WServer 2003 Std, plus 5 TS CALS. I've setup WS2003 on the new box and have joined it to the SBS Domain as a Server and for most of the setup I've followed the document entitiled Deploying Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server to Host User Desktops in a Windows Small Business Server 2003 Environment. However, when I go to the stage entitled Configure Terminal Service Licensing I remembered seeing so…

TS server with SBS... locking down TS session
by Guest Noncentz303- 1 reply

I am running an application via a TS server. I read an article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/278295 which basically sums it up for me.. but I guess I have some reservations. Im not to familiar with GPO so I have a couple of questions. 1st - where do I put my new OU on SBS, under My Business or does in matter?? 2nd - I just need this policy to work when a user is using TS so that they can see the taskbar but not reach any other controls on the server, how is this implemented 3rd. I heard about Mandatory User Profiles set up for TS sessions (not to be mistaken with mandatory profiles set up through AD). Ive been told using this method I can set the…

Mandatory TS profile ... admin rights not working

I have been tasked with locking down the desktop so that when a user logs in via TS they have access to only 2 programs. I read that I could accomplish this via mandatory TS profiles. This is a first for me so I will go through what I have done so far... We currently run a SBS as our DC and 2 TS servers I created a GPO and a new OU named "Terminal Lockdown" for my TS1 - enabled loopback processing -setup a shared folder on my C drive called "TSProfiles" -added admin security group to roaming user profiles -set path for TS roaming profiles -Path: \\Servername\TSProfiles -I set the profile path on a test user I setup to

RDP and SQL 2005
by Guest PRMolina- 1 reply
I am running an enterprise management app on terminal services that queries a SQL 2005 server. Sometimes - the first time opening a window and then every once and a while at very random but sometimes frequent intervals - the application windows take an extra 8 - 15 seconds to open. A partner we consult with suggested that this might be because the application spawns multiple SQL sessions, and that because of the way RDP interacts with those sessions they may be taking the extra time to open when compared to a "real" desktop client session. Does this make any sense to you? Have you seen something similar? Thanks, -Paul

I had windows 2000 server installed and have not had to do a reinstall since i originally bought it in 2001. Recently I had to do a reinstall of the OS and I ran into a problem with Terminal Service Cals. I am running terminal service in Application mode (Which is the way i was running it before) but this time it is not giving me the 5 cals I had before. If memory serves me (Which it rarely does) I just enrolled last time online using the WWW method and I did not have to enter any additional information other than serial that is stuck on the side of my server. I purchased my server from Dell if that means anything

remote control a TS session from the console
by Guest dsm4898- 2 replies
Yes, I know this is not possible and yes, I know this is by design (per Microsoft). The workaround is to establish a remote session from the console to itself, then remote control the other session. Why is this by design? What is this trying to prevent? This is a limitation for no apparent reason (IMHO). Other than using Citrix, is there a workaround? A reg hack? -- D.

Hi I am going to switch Citrix to Windows 2003 terminal servers. I want to ask you opinion on the client side: which way is better to allow the client to connect: REmote decktop web connection or remote desktop? If we go for REmote decktop web connection, can I install it on any web server? Thank you.

by Guest i.edelmann@googlemail.com- 3 replies

Hi there, I have a mixed mode terminalserver farm running. The license server for MS and CTX ist running on a W2k3 standard server. The infrastructure is also running on W2k3 standard (farm metric, db server) and the published desktop servers, too. Only Some W2k published application server are in the farm. All is running okay - there are no problems with the licenses (per device). I got some new servers, which are located in another subnet (the existing subnet was full and there was no possibility to put them into the old subnet. All these new servers (W2k3 R2) have a strange behaviour. They all were installed similar to the other W2k3 servers. They all hav…

Are others noticing this as well and are there any settings I can change in RDP to help this?
