64-bit Server - Outlook Configuration Problem
by Guest Denis- 0 replies
We are using Windows Server 2003 R2 64-bit Enterprise Edition. It is our Terminal Server. We are not able to configure Outlook Profiles. Right-click on the Outlook Icon in Start Menu shows only 3 options - Read Mails, Internet Properties and Remove from the list. Access to Control Panel have been restricted, so users cannot access "Mail" control panel applet in "View x86 Control Panel Icons". How can I enable the "Outlook Properties" option in Start menu? Or how can I enable the "Mail" icon to be shown directly in "Control Panel" rather than in "View x86 Control Panel Icons"? Thanks in Advance. Best Regards, Denis Dudhia

Termianl Server Implementation Question
by Guest Chris- 5 replies

Good Day Community, I'm going to outline a scenario I have, and just want get some feedback on what would be the best method to implement it. Scenario Server: Windows 2003 SBS Standard (DC) Server: Windows 2003 Standard R2 - Terminal Server Goal: I need to implement the terminal server for our remote sales staff. We recently did a big push on our accounting software - which requires the workstations to have amounts of RAM and atleast 2.0ghz. Most of remote sales agents have laptops that do not qualify for the upgrade. Instead of replacing 5 laptops, we purchased the hardware to make a terminal server (Dual Quad Core, 4gigs RAM etc). This will allo…

Hi, I would like to let users access remote applications ONLY, not allow them to use the same username/password in the manual connection client to get a desktop. How do I do this? I have successfully deployed RemoteApps, the only problem is that users need to be members of the group "Remote Desktop Users". Any help would be greatly appreciated. Y

How to disable logging of failed printer installation
by Guest Brian- 7 replies
Various client stations of my terminal servers have virtual printers (CutePDFWriter, etc.) that do not exist on the TS. I would actually prefer that clients disable printer connections, but that does not always get done, and so it fills up the TS event log with pairs of 1106/1111 errors. (printer could not be installed / Driver... is unknown) What is the registry entry for disabling logging of printer installation-related events on the TS?

We are using Windows Server 2003 Enterprise as a Terminal Server. It was installed and activated in 2005. This morning it would not allow any of the users to log-on, and every user was presented with the Activation Wizard, telling that the Windows needs to be activated before it can be used. The Event 1000 was logged-on in the event log Event Type: Error Event Source: Windows Product Activation Event Category: None Event ID: 1000 Date: 10/1/2008 Time: 7:16:23 AM User: N/A Computer: FSDTS2 Description: An error occurred while the wizard was checking the current Windows product license. GPO Setting question...TS Sessions related
by Guest Cary Shultz- 5 replies
Good evening! We have a client who has a Terminal Server. I have a GPO that locks things down a bit. Included in this GPO are the following: Active Session Limit: 1 day Idle Session: 3 hours End disconnected session: 30 minutes My question here is: the 'increments' offered by the GPO are a bit lacking. 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours and then 1 day! What if I would like 4 hours? How do I get '4 hours' as an option to this? An option specifically for Idle Session..... And, for Active Session - what if I would like 8 hours as an option? Thanks, Cary

change the driver a printer uses
by Guest td- 1 reply

I recently used the TS Printer Driver Redirection Wizard to try and fix an issue with a user that can't get there printer to redirect. I was able to get the printer to finally redirect but then when the user printed to it the printer only fed out blank sheets of paper. When I re-ran the wizard the printer does not show up because now it has a driver for it. My question is how do I change the driver associated with that printer? TIA

logon problem
by Guest modalit@hotmail.com- 1 reply

Hi, I have found this forum in desperation, would be grateful for any advice. We have a network with 4x terminal servers serving up to around 20 users each. We have a problem when users log on to terminal sessions, where after a user provides user/password and appears to authenticate, the blue background (that I take to be the first stage of drawing the desktop) appears but the session does not progress further, no taskbar, no desktop icons, just the pointer. Nothing works, and the only way we have found to rectify the problem is for an admin to reset the session through terminal services manager. This problem appears to happen randomly - it can affect an…

Thanks in advance.

bypass local addresses and auto detect TS gateway
by Guest Tom Decaluwé- 2 replies

Hi, On the MSTSC client TS gateway tab you now have the option "bypass TS gateway server for local addresses" My question is, what does the client concider to be local? when does it decide yes i need to use the TS gateway or no i don't i can directly connect? 1) does it look at the local NIC subnet 2) does it look at AD sites and services 3) does it do some sort of connection test 4).... what determins the local yes or no answer? As a second question i see you can select auto detection for TS gateway, but how does this work? 1) does it broadcast for a TS gateway 2) does it query AD for TS gateway servers 3) does it look at specific DNS recor…
