Hi guys. I had a problem with our Windows 2003 Server. We were working using Remote Desktop to reboot the server. After reboot, some of servers couldn't login to Terminal Service. I trayed to telnet selecting port number, but couldin't connect it.(NG using netstat -n) There were any message about terminal service on event viewer. So, we decided to reboot again, using HP-iLO. After that, server tuned on and terminal service worked again. What is going on this server? What is the problem? Only way to fix it is reboot? I looked around google, but I coundn't find any problem like mine

Local GPO
by Guest Avari- 4 replies

I won't go into too much detail but due to the constant corruptions of the GPO's and mismanagement from other staff. I have decided to steer way from domain created GPO's. Can you please advise how I would achieve the same as GPO's but applied locally to my Terminal Server/Citrix servers. I want any users who belongs to a security group that is logging into my Terminal Servers/Citrix servers to apply a local policy to lock them down. There are numerous settings I want applied the most important ones are, users unable to see the local server drives and unable to access control panel. Many thanks

We are running a 2003 R2 server in application mode. Is it possible to have a English version of Windows display in Chinese (dialog boxes, titles, column headings, etc..) for certain users? We are more concerned with the windows themselves being in Chinese rather than the input. Thanks, Scott

SHaring a MS access frontend amongst all TS users
by Guest Jason Woodbury- 15 replies

I have an Acess front end I am trying to share with all users. I would like to know if there is a way for TS or scripting wise to implement 1 access front end and have it make a copy from a set location to every users desktop everytime they login. I am tired of having to delete every single users front end everytime it updates(which it seems to do frequently). As it stands, I have 1 copy of the front end on everyones desktop, I would like for them to be able to access a master copy and the server to automatically download a fresh copy everytime they login and delete it when they logout. Is there a way to go about this so I can simply be able to update …

Prevent Window Popup
by Guest Webbert- 9 replies
I just got involved in a production issue and believe that there is a popup window that is preventing the system from running until someone presses "OK". The only indication that I have at this point is a screen shot of an event log that shows Source: Application Popup Category: None Type: Information Event ID: 26 User: N/A No other information is available. I thought that there was a way with Dr. Watson to prevent any and all popups from displaying on a server that expects no UI. Can anyone point me in the right direction to prevent the popups from occuring? Thanks, Dave

Any good tips on making this happen? Thanks, -- Mike

cannot connect vista to vista.
by Guest breBill- 5 replies

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, so please let me know. We cannot connect from one vista machine to another vista machine using remote desktop connection. When we try using a domain user account, we ge the error "No authority could be contacted for authentication." I have searched quite a bit in vain. It would be helpful if anyone can shine some light on this problem. These are windows vista enterprise and windows vista ultimate computers added to our domain. We can connect to the machines using local accounts. I tried adding the domain user to the administrators account, but that does not help. I'm not sure what the next tro…

Hi all, we have developed a software that runs on a Windows 2003 Server. Our customer use the software remotely by connecting via RDP to the server. 1) Our customers have often to re-configure their firewall because outgoing comunication to TCP port 3389 are not allowed 2) Currently we authenticate users only with user/password and filtering their IP addresses with our cisco firewall, so every time we have to reconfigure its access-list: if a customer chages its connection we have to reconfigure, or if we want to make a demo somewhere we have to reconfigure... We wanto to improve this situation. Is it possible to authenticate with a certificare s…

I have a terminal server running on a domain. The OS is Windows 2003 server -standard. I have created a special group policy with permissions and restrictions for all remote users connecting the server via terminal services. Evertyhing seems to work fine, but the problem is that Administrative Tools applet under Control Panel is fully accessible for all remote users. Access to Control Panel is not allowed, but you can always reach Administrative Tools thru Start/All Programs. I have tried everything but it seems that I cannot deny access to this applet neither I can hide it from All Programs under Start Menu. Please help!!!

Drive Redirection + Group Policies...

Hi Guys, This is probably the dumbest question anyone has ever asked...but would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. Right now we have a Win2003 Server (domain controller) which users connect to using Remote Desktop. I want to be able to enable drive redirection (show local drives) for admin users and disable the drive redirection for normal users. I have setup two group policies, one for Admins and another linked to a security group I defined, which all the normal users are members of. The "Do not allow drive redirection" policy is DISABLED in the admin policy and ENABLED in the normal users policy (so the two polices have con…
