Additional security for Remote Desktop
by Guest Baffledandconfused- 0 replies
Hi, In my office we have just started using remote desktop to log in to work from home (Win 2003 server). We log in using our network user name and password However, employees may be logging in from insecure computers and we are concerned at the risk of keylogging software. We want to have an additional password, of which the user will be prompted to enter 3 randomly chosen letters via drop down menus (like many banks do). How do we do this? I know there are various token-based solutions, but we really don't want to make people carry tokens. Any help gratefully received.

video display

in some cases on my terminal server... the display is weird.. I say this because sometimes within a microsoft office application you click on a button and a popup window will appear. But before the popup window will fully appear you can only see the window frames and after a few seconds then the proper popup is displayed. i am seeing this while inside the existing network of the server's location. i don't think the video drivers has to deal with this but maybe it uses the "msgina". my video drivers seems just over 2 years out of date... have windows 2003 stand R2 SP2 Dual quad 4Gb Ram -- Goku 316

A colleage of minee added a monitoring program that when one of my terminal servers out of a farm of 8 using Windows NLB reaches 40 connections the monitor will drainstop the server until the active sesion level falls below 40 again. this causes the entire farm to converge each time a server is drained. My concern with this is (With supporting evidence, please) Does this affect the performance of the servers or the stabilty of them.

Hi all, We automate the outlook profile using outlook.exe /importprf \\UNC\outlook.prf through group policy logon script. So, whenever the users log on, the outlook opens up. If we do not want outlook open automatically (ust configure outlook profile) when users log on, is there a way to accomplish this? Thank you.

Softgrid sound issues
by Guest mwilliams60- 0 replies
We're trying to run some games for kids to use in our school ts labs. When we use softgrid to run the games the video is very smooth but we cannot get any sound. Right now we are in test mode, the hardware i am using for the server and for the sequencer is identical. When i sequence the game from the console I get sound in the "launch app" step of sequencing. The only other tip i was able to find was to sequence the game through a ts connection when i do this there is no sound in the "launch app" step of sequencing. Any help would be great. Thanks Matt Williams School District 60

Star TSP700 using terminal services
by Guest cityblm.is@gmail.com- 0 replies

We have three cash registers running IBS through terminal services. Each station has its own Star TSP700 thermal receipt printer attached locally to it. Each station connects to the server via terminal services. TS connects to the local printer which uses only the Generic Text driver. Each receipt prints fine, but we are having an issue: Each receipt that prints out is printing at the same length. The receipt for customers to sign the merchant's copy of the credit card receipt (just three inches long) is printing at about 5 or 6 inches. Any regular receipt with items on it also prints at that length. So, no matter what, same length. Anyone have any ideas?

Terminal service virtual channel problem with VB6
by Guest junlia- 0 replies
Hi Everyone, I have implemented sending message via virtual channel to terminal service server app in C#. However, due to the project requirement, I need to re-write this in VB6. However I am having issues with MsRdpClient31.CreateVirtualChannels and MsRdpClient31.SendOnVirtualChannel methods. I received Method 'CreateVirtualChannels' of object 'MsRdpClient31' failed and Method 'SendOnVirtualChannel' of object 'MsRdpClient31' failed errors. If I put in 'On Error Resume Next' statement before the the methods calls, it would skip the first SendOnVirtualChannel call as it would error out, and create the virtual channel even though generate error, an…

Launch an app in another active TS session?
by Guest Rob Sibarelo- 0 replies
Hi Gang. Here's what I want to do: Log on to a TS server with an administrative level account, and use a command line to start an interactive app under another *already running* session. For example, to launch an instance of notepad for someone who cannot figure out how to click the Notepad.exe icon on their desktop, but without having to shadow or remote control their session. Ideally this would be a scriptable technique. It seems possible because there are tools that can kill such apps, but I don't know of a way to launch them. I don't think RunAs or PSrun using the credentials of the target session are what I am looking for - these tools seem to st…

100 percent CPU usage on Remote Desktop

Hi, I'am running a application via rdp on the client. There is an agenda applicatrion running that takes 100% cpu when dragging the appointments from one day/time to another. The window is walking far behind. Making the window smaller speeds things up. It looks like the videocard is consuming all the CPU power. The server is running smooth no bottle necks. IMsTscAxEvents::OnDisconnected reason code 2825
by Guest Yury Averkiev- 0 replies

I'm not sure if this is a correct group to post. I'm developing an application using RDP ActiveX control, and when I'm trying to establish a connection the connection is getting rejected with 2825 error code (the disconnect notification comes via IMsTscAxEvents::OnDisconnected event). MSDN documentation (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa382170(VS.85).aspx) doesn't have this code in the list of possible error codes. So I'm wondering what this code means? Thanks, Yury

RE: Licensing Clarification - Office 2003 Standard Ed. I too need clarification on licensing. I have fried my Toshiba latop and I am 3000 miles from home and nowhere near a servcie center in a rather rural area for a big city. I may have to buy a new laptop. How can I tell if my Office 2003-standard Edition(product Key on hand) has an unexpired liciense left on it so I don't have to buy new software or at the very lest new Excel? -- Thanks, Ajimmo "E. Outlook 2007 Performance
by Guest Jeff G- 0 replies

All - I have a Terminal Server Cluster that has been built. In my testing, I placed a user that has a large (2.5 GB) Exchange mailbox. When he launches Outlook 2007, it comes up, but he gets an hourglass for about 5 minutes. During that time, he can go on do other things, but when he comes back to Outlook, he gets the "Not Responding" or the white screen. Eventually, it comes back around and he's able to use it. He's not running in cache mode, because of running on TS. All patches have been applied to the servers in the cluster. I've disabled the add-ins that would allow me to. I know that the account size is an issue, but he didn't have the pr…

Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 - How can you prevent users from automatically installing print drivers. I have enabled the policy on each server 'Devices: Prevent users from installing printer drivers' in the local security policy, but this doesn't seem to have any effect. Users can still connect with a new printer and the driver for it will load?? Any ideas
