I have a user setup to lauch our accounting software upon connecting to our terminal server. The settings I am using in the environment tab are correct. However when exiting the program, the terminal session hangs on a blank desktop for a minute (time we have set for idle session limit). The RDP user without any programs setup in the environment tab work fine and log off their sessions normally. How do I resolve session hangs

Access report to pdf using SQL Server ad Terminal Services
by Guest Gina Whipp- 0 replies

It was suggested by the 'creator' I post this question here to see if anyone has run across this issue and found a solution... Hello All, Maybe someone has come across this problem before. I have been using Stephen Lebans ReportToPDF for sometime now and LOVE IT (Thanks Stephen!!!). I have an Access database, tables on SQL Server and front being accessed thru Terminal Services with an HP LaserJet 4 printer. When I send the report to .pdf the font changes from Times New Roman to Arial! The .snp is in Times New Roman, so my thought is it's not the utility or Access and I just want a confirmation and to know if anyone has run into this problem and has a sug…

Printing rights problem
by Guest BSigworth- 0 replies

I have a printer connected locally to our 2003 sp2 TS server that will only print if the user is a member of Administrators Group. There are several other printers configured on the server which work fine with only the user belonging to Remote Desktop Users Group, as we would like. I tried making users a member of Power Users Group, granting rights to, or removing restrictions on printing services with no success. The printer is a Zebra P330i (card printer). It installs as a local printer using a standard TCP/IP port. And just to keep things interesting the application that uses the printer, finds it by it's name, which must be set to “cardprinte…

We recently upgraded to Terminal Services 2008 (from TS 2003) and have a Win 2003 Active Directory Server. We noticed that the users of our application now have the ability to browse our network (sound the alarm!!). The group policy for our TS users restricted the users from browsing the network (through an application common Dialog) in TS 2003 but this setting does not seem to be recognized by our Win 2008 TS servers. Is this a bug or have a overlooked a new setting required for TS 2008?

by Guest ThomasT.- 0 replies

Hello everybody, I have just created a new small utility program: Remote File Transfer for Terminal Server. As usually, it's 100% free. This is a small program that permits to transfers a file from server to client machine through the virtual channel, it can also run/open the file on the client side with the default associated program after the file is transfered on the client. Ex: you can use it to transfer .doc or .pfd file to client and open that file with MS Word or Acrobat Reader on the client machine You can download it on my website : http://www.mqtechnologies.com/ You can find there other usefull utility programs like: 1 - Remote Applicati…

Strange behavior moving from W2K TS to W2K3 TS
by Guest Miles B- 0 replies
(Please excuse the long post, I want to give all the details to help you understand this problem and our environment. Thanks). We are receiving strange results moving a Point-of-Sale (POS) application from W2K TS to W2K3 TS. The difficulties *appear* to be entirely W2K3 related in the way it handles traffic. Existing W2K TS Server hosts TS and the application. Dual Xeon processors with 4 GB RAM, plenty of hard drive space, 15 remote "cash register" connections running POS application and printing to Epson TM88 thermal receipt printer on LPT1 using Generic/Text Only driver. New W2K3 TS server being used as pass-through TS server only to application …

Terminal Server Printing issues (Additional Print trays missing)
by Guest venkat- 0 replies
We recently installed windows 2003 terminal server with SP2. Most of our printer are HP laserjet printers and to be specific laserjet 4100, 4050, 4300and 9000 series printer. We get the default printer mapped ok while logging on to the terminal server but seem to lose the additional trays in the printer settings on the TS client. Is there any way to fix this issue. If we log on as admin to that TS session we can add the trays and the setting for that particular workstation remains OK. Is this a permission issue? Once we have the trays the printing is not an issue

Windows - Jobs, Interview Questions, Certification
by Guest Naveen- 0 replies

Hi, In the very fast moving IT Industry, there is a need for the people to keep a note of what is happening in the field, what are the latest Jobs available and in which technologies they are available and what companies and also in which cities. And also when applying for Jobs, it is obvious for people to look for Interview Questions in their Technologies and if they are able to find it all at one place, then they can concentrate on studying or doing R&D further on those questions and answers available. And for a better pay pack people are always in a mood of doing certification and at that time they are on a lookout for certification material an…

We have a win 2003 server which is accessed by multiple clients (around 10) by RDP. The machine has 4GB memory. When we start a SAS sort, the performance monitor shows a lot of page faults, but the machine has still 2GB memory available. Why does a process experience page faults when there is plenty of memory free? Martin

cannot print to attached printers
by Guest Buddy- 0 replies
A recent power outage has resulted in the following problem for a client. All printers that are attached to PCs can print fine from the local PC, but when connecting to the terminal server, the printer shows up as the default printer for that session, but all print jobs fail to print. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printers. If I share the printer from the PC and then connect to it as a network printer (While in the terminal service session) I can print to it then. But no printing works through the terminal service session to the locally attached printer. Printing to other printers works fine. Retsrating the server has made no difference. Th…

Office 2003 on Windows 2003 Terminal Server
by Guest JF- 0 replies

Hello- I installed MS Office 2003 on 4 term. servers as directed by documentation found on MS's web site. 3 of the installations are correct, in that they do not display the full color splash screen when launching an office application. However, one server shows the full color splash screen. I believe this somehow came back when using the Save My Settings wizard to restore our company customizations for Office. Is this a problem to have the full color splash screen, and if so, is there a way to revert it back to the way it should display in TS? Thanks, Joel

local printer security
by Guest Marni- 0 replies

Is there a way (GPO, security group membership, script at login) to enable a TS user access to change the properties of their local printer? 2 situations: - user needs to access additional devices to add 2nd tray to local printer - using WYSE terminal and need access to change printer driver from 'text only' (in this examply, i tried exporting a reg key, but the TS ID changes so the key doesn't work) administrator can access and change in above situations. thanks for any suggestions.

MI5-Persecution: Why do you think MI5 are responsible? (4105)
by Guest MI5-Victim@mi5.gov.uk- 0 replies

Why do you think MI5 are responsible? The question of who is ultimately responsible for this eight-year harassment is one which is very difficult to answer, as the persecutors have never clearly made their identities known to the persecutee. However, I believe I am correct in attributing the continuing victimisation to elements of the British Security Service MI5, and in this article, I will try to explain the reasons for this belief. The British internet magazine ".net" featured my website on page 17 of their March 1998 issue (number 42). Their review kindly describes it as an "excellent site" and gives some details of what the net surfer will find there. S…

Problems With WatchGuard SSL VPN Firewall LDAP Authentication Using Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Log-in Credentials
by Guest NIV Consulting- 0 replies

Problems With WatchGuard SSL VPN Firewall LDAP Authentication Using Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Log-in Credentials I have a WatchGuard SSL VPN firewall, in which the VPN login's were linked using LDAP to the Windows 2000 Active Directory (AD) accounts. With this configuration, the users could login to the VPN using their Windows 2000 AD credentials. When the Windows 2000 Server was upgraded to Windows Server 2003, the AD no longer works with the WatchGuard SSL VPN using LDAP. No configurations to the WatchGuard SSL VPN firewall were changed prior to upgrading to Windows Server 2003. I have heard that this problem may be caused by Windows Server 2003…
