more servers

We are using a Windows 2003 terminal server. I can connect with this server trough the Internet. In the router I set the NAT table to the server. When I connect to the IP address of my ADSL with RDP software then the connection is made to the Terminal server. When I like to add a second server (performance issue) then I'm not able to use NAT. Is there a way to use more than 1 Terminal server with only 1 ADSL line? (Load balancing?)

Questing on printing and Print Servers
by Guest Corey Arndt- 1 reply

I want to print documents from my Terminal Server to a remote location via a VPN and a 1 meg conection. The items I am printing are Excel Files with Pictures inside. The file itself is 5-10 meg in size. Currently I am printing from the Terminal Server direclty to the printer (via ip address). When printing, the printed file size increases 2-3 times in size and as a result prints very slow. If I change the setup and print to a print server at the remote location (instead of directly to the printer), will the file size still stay smaller or will it still grow? Which way is better for printing (reliablity and speed)? I know adding a print-server at…

We are using Win 2003 Server TS edition. We have 10-15 users logging in at a time. There is one user that constantly gets disconnected. He gets the following message: “The connection has been lost. Attempting to reconnect to your session… Connection 1 of 20” Any suggestions? Thanks -- Gabe

IIS crashing when user logs in via RDP?
by Guest Mason G. Zhwiti- 2 replies

Hello everyone, I've been the only one managing our servers via RDP at the office, for the longest time. Recently we added a new guy to help me, and we set him up with an Active Directory domain account, similar to mine. When he logs into the servers, he regularly (but not always) receives a popup error indicating that w3wp.exe has crashed. It has "Send" and "Don't Send" buttons on it to report the error. If he clicks "Don't Send," it will continuously crash and popup a new error. If he clicks "Send," it just crashes that one time and then stops! Has anyone ever seen w3wp.exe crash regularly on RDP login? And why on Earth would "Don't Send" cause it to conti…

Re: TS CAL Monitoring and Alerting

Re: TS CAL Monitoring and Alerting Hi, I've seen some artiles about Terminal Services License Server WMI provider to monitor available lisences. They use the following classes: Win32_TSIssuedLicense Win32_TSLicenseKeyPack Win32_TSLicenseReport Win32_TSLicenseReportEntry Win32_TSLicenseServer I couldn't find these clases on my W2k3 TS Licensing servers, I suppose it's because they require TlsWmiProv.mof Does anyone know how to get it installed? Thanks!! Regards, Lu. "Vera Noest [MVP]" wrote: > I agree that that would be a nice feature. > > I would schedule a batchfile to run once a day. Run lsreport, and > parse the out…

TS MMC annoys me- setting/params/options?
by Guest BFH- 4 replies

Setup is: two terminal servers, one licensing server (all 2003). The licensing server has the TS Manager (licmgr.exe) installed on it. When I start TS manager, it says it's looking for a licening server, I see it trying (and failing) to connect to a particular DC, and then it tells me no license server is available in the current domain or workgroup. This is, of course, nonsense- all the server are part of the same domain, and the license server service is actually running on the server that tells me it can't find the service! So, then I right-click, connect to license service on the local server, and I see all the licenses, etc. All's well from t…

RDP 6 and Terminal Server Farms
by Guest Jeff- 1 reply
I have a terminal server farm with name farm.ad.domain.com that has 5 terminal server nodes running 2003 enterprise. RDP 5.1 and 5.2 connect to (virtual) farm.ad.domain.com which hits my session directory server and connects to the appropriate node. RDP 6 can connect to each node in the farm (tries to log on locally and not to domain account, separate issue) but I can't make it connect to the virtual farm name or farm's virtual ip address. When we upgrade to Vista next year this will be a major issue. How can i get RDP 6 to connect to the terminal farm name?

Printing to shared local printer via Terminal Services
by Guest Erimikos- 3 replies

ok.. here is our basic setup... Our network has 10 different locations, including the corporate office. At the corporate office, there are 2 terminal services servers running Windows 2000 Server, without any sort of load balancing. Each of our locations are running on their own subnet, and consist of Windows 95-XP client computers, as well as a couple laserjet printers. Some of these printers are connected via a network interface, while some are connected directly to one of the client computers. We also have some automated systems here (some using SQL, some using other custom built software) at corporate that print things to some of these printers. …

Re: TS admin mode Vera, I really need your help. I have the Teminal Server running on Remote Administration Mode. Is buying one CAL only one way to switch this mode to the application mode? Does Application mode make any difference for the customer who uses the Terminal Server as a Application server at his network? The root of the problem is the VPN Cisco Client which is perfectly working at the console connection, but requires a few additional steps when running on the Terminal session... Any help would be highly appreciated... Nick nshmakov@screamsavers.com.au "Vera Noest [MVP]" wrote: > Remote admin mode gives you a maximum of 2 norma…

Disable remote desktop connection security warning
by Guest Guy Yardeni- 3 replies

Hi, I'm deploying a TS solution and automatic client machines so that they auto login and then launch the RDP client and connect to the TS farm. On first connection, they get the security warning because the client drives are redirected to the server. There is a checkbox on the warning to never warn you again for this server, I'd like to pre-deploy this to all client machines - it is stores in a registry key or another place that can be accessed with a script? My servers are Windows 2003 and clients are Windows 2000, XP and XPe. Thanks, Guy

Hi all, Quick question as I cant find any info on this. Is there any way in which you can prevent a/any program detecting it's in a Terminal Server environment? Can't be specific at this stage but it would be extremely helpful to know if say there are only a few places within the OS that the program may look which could possibly be worked around?! Many thanks yus

Hello, I use Remote Desktop Web connection with a fixed IP to allow access to a Windows 2003 server. Requests which come to port 3389 are forwarded to the Windows Server 2003 machine. I can access the server either using Remote Desktop or via the web site. I switched my ISP and obtained a new fixed IP and new router (Linksys WRT54G). I set up forwarding once again. However, when I try to access the server via remote desktop web connection I received the following error: "VBScript: Remote Session Disconnected The client could not connect to the remote computer.
