Thin-Client printing question
by Guest compsosinc@gmail.com- 0 replies

We have Wyse thin-clients that use their own Internet Explorer capabilities to browse the Internet and they have theWindowsCE OS and we need to be able to print out web-based emails. Currently, these same thin-clients connect to the 2003 Terminal Server to run an application and print to a network-based printer (local to the thin- clients). How do we give the thin-clients the ability to print to this printer from the Internet? Thanks

What errors do they get? Can your domain users on workstations (not logging into TS) add network printers? Hello, I am working remote desktop to a terminal server (2003) on an internal network. Then I stop the session (I push the X in the upper screen). Later I want to start the same session again (it is still there in "Terminal Services Manager" on the server), I logon and get a new session. I use the same name and password. Is there a way to get the same session again ? Sometimes it works, but also sometimes not. Thanks, Marty

Terminal Services Licensing Server will not Start
by Guest Mike Johnston- 0 replies

Hey all The Licensing Server Service will not start because of low disk space. I get the error stating that the log file could not be created and so the service will not start. How do I change the log file location at service start up? I have already cleared as much disk space on the OS drive as possible but have plenty on other drives. Thanks.

doesn't work: "Start the following program at logon"
by Guest SubnetJO- 0 replies

Hi all. I have a Windows2003 terminal server, joined to my domain. This machine works great for many RDP users. I recently added a new domain user configuring the option "Start the following program at logon". The user logs on the machine, but he gains access to the standard desktop, the program I configure doesn't start at logon. I tried the same configuration of some other users who work fine, I tried to start the "notepad.exe" or the "CMD.exe"... nothing. The user always experience a standard logon. The setting on the "enviroment" tab seems to be ignored. The user is "clean". No particular policies or other settings are applied. I don't think t…

We are running a TS enviorment on a SBS. I have users that would setup hotkeys and shortcuts with some proprietary programs on their pc's. I would like to give them this functionality back but I run into some issues. Im assuming the app needs to be server based but how can I keep track of what users are saving onto their clipboards Is it possible for me to pass commands to my TS from a terminal via RDP?? Thanks Much Antony Nolan

Hello All . I have been troubleshooting a very wierd and troublesome problem for a client. We are running 2003 std server with terminal services - all updates run. We have on top Office 2003 which is shared between all the TS clients. We have many network based printer, connecting different ways, but over the past 3 months a wierd problem has come up. when any user tried to print from word (as in file print) the print dialogue box can take up to 5 mins to come up. If they just click print (to default printer) its ok. The same happens in Powerpoint, but not as long. Excel does not show this problem at all - the print dialogue box comes up straight away…

Roaming profile location being misinterpreted.
by Guest BMC- 0 replies
We set the location for users' roaming profile through terminal services through the GPO setting "Set path for TS Roaming Profiles". This expects the setting to be specified as \\Computername\Sharename. The explain text further details that a placeholder for the username (%username%) should not be added as this is appended automatically. With this setting set to the location we want, \\user\tsprofiles, this should therefore be interpreted not as the location at which all users' profiles should reside, i.e. user1's profile is at \\user\tsprofiles\user1 user2's profile is at \\user\tsprofiles\user2 Today however, when any user tries to log on, Windows tr…

W2k8 TS Application Help
by Guest Schmeg- 0 replies

I have an MRP application that works about 95% on 2008 TS. The MRP app has a menu system and certain menu selections actually launch other .exe's - I am having trouble where when making a menu selection that launches an exe, the application appears to try and launch but then does nothing. I do not get an errors, warnings, events, etc. The exe that is being launched is in a trusted zone and I've allowed it in the Windows Firewall as well as just turning the firewall off to test. I suspect my problem may be some security feature or setting of W2k8 TS that is preventing the exe from launching. Anyone with ideas on where or what to look for? The same applic…

Performance degredation following Office 2007 SP1 install on 2003
by Guest lamaslany- 0 replies

When SP1 for Office 2007 was released we installed it on our Windows Server 2003 x64 terminal servers in the hope it would fix some of the issues we'd been experiencing with Office Communicator 2007. Unfortunately this rendered our terminal servers unusable and we had to nuke and rebuild to get going again. The problem seemed to affect Outlook users with the performance degrading to a point where it would take a user more than five minutes to open an email. Annoyingly though this did not seem to affect the first dozen or so users that connected to the servers - only those that connected past that (approximate) limit. The more users that connected the…

Using Load Balancing Hardware: Cisco
by Guest lozza- 0 replies

Guys, Am having difficulty understanding a few things with regard to Load Balancing WTS . Environment will be 3 TS servers sitting behind a Cisco Load Balancer… My questions are: 1) If i;m using session directory, does it matter what balancing algorithm I am using? The reason I ask this is because doesn't the session directory determine whether you already have a disconnected session and then somehow reconnect you back that server (so effectively the Session Directory keeps you Sticky to the TS server). So for example if I hit my Virtual IP on the Load Balancer and it takes me to Server1, I then disconnect and come back half hour later. When I hit …

Session Directory
by Guest Jeff- 0 replies

I have several terminal NLB farms with multiple nodes in each farm. When a user calls in with issues it is hard to find exactly where that user is logged in at (which node) with tsadmin. Is there an easy way or GUI somewhere that will show the contents of the Session Directory to find where the user is actually logged in at? Thanks,
