TS, Outlook autoarchive won't go away
by Guest Len B- 4 replies
I'm not sure whether to ask here or in Outlook group so here goes. OL2k3 on a 2k3 TS. Error message: "The file ....\Outlook\archive.pst could not be found" [OK] This message usually pops up when initiating a new message. Clicking ok brings up the "Create/Open Personal Folders File" dialog to create/save archive.pst. However, the setting under Tools|Options, Other tab, Autoarchive button shows auto archive to be turned off. Is there anything else that could be causing this popup? It is driving the users mad. -- Len ______________________________________________________ remove nothing for valid email address.

TS session minor annoyances...that are making me crazy!
by Guest Gregg Hill- 6 replies

Hello! I have some minor appearance issues to which I cannot yet find an answer. I am posting here in the hope that some bored guru will stumble upon this post while I am off on Google looking for the answer. 1) I cannot turn off the "Stop USB Mass Storage Device" item in the system tray when restricted users are logged into a locked down 2000 TS. I have "Hide the notification area" checked under User Config > Admin Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar. I need to kill that so no end user can disable the USB backup drive on the TS. 2) Another thing I have Googled to death is trying to find a GPO setting to enable desktop icon auto arrange for all…

New Twist (and problem) with TS...
by Guest NewMan- 9 replies

We have receontly installed a Win 2008 Server. I added the Hyoer-V role, and installed a virtual instance of a Win2000 Server. I have no problem accessing the WIn2000 server via Remote Desktop / Terminal Services. Here is the twist.... Non-Admin users cannot log on locally. No problem, there is an option for that Right???? WRONG! You cannot access the "Allow logon through Terminal Services" element of Group Policy when you are accessing the group policy via a Terminal Services Session! ACK! With a virtualized machine, the ONLY kind of connection is a Terminal Services Session! I tried accessing via the Hypervisor console, but all it does is con…

Allowing users to see their own desktop and All Users desktop
by Guest Gregg Hill- 1 reply

Hello! I have a Win 2000 terminal server that I locked down a couple of years ago using the "Locking Down Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server Sessions" document. It is a member server in an SBS 2003 domain, with the GPO being on the SBS 2003 server and applied to a "Terminal Servers" OU that has only the TS in it. I had it set so that users could see only the All Users desktop and had their own Star Menu where they could have icons specific to particular users. Now I want them to be able to have their own desktop as well as the All Users desktop because some users want the ability to create shortcuts on the TS desktop to frequently used files that re…

Simple IIS 7 redirection for TS Web
by Guest BrianB- 1 reply
What obviously seemed like a simple task has turned into an issue. TS Web is installed and is functioning just fine. Since the default installation is a sub folder in the default web site, I am trying to do a redirect so users don't have to add the "/ts" when they type a url. I'd be much appreciated if anyone has any ideas why I can't this to work. thanks, Brian

Can not access Terminal Server via Remote Desktop
by Guest Adam V.- 5 replies

Hello: I have a Windows Server 2003 R2 running Terminal Services. We have a second location that accesses this server via RDP over a VPN. Everything has worked fine for a couple of years. This morning, no one could connect to the server through RDP (either from the remote location or locally). When it fails to connect, it says "your Remote Desktop Session has ended possibly for one of the following reasons : network problem, admin ended the session, an error occurred . . ." I noticed under Terminal Server licensing that the activation status was "NOT ACTIVATED". I went ahead and reinstalled the terminal server CALs. Then, I noticed the C: drive…

TS not updating key for roaming profile
by Guest ChrisInRIC- 0 replies
Has anyone else seen where a terminal server is not updating the following key appropriately: \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal Services\WFProfilePath We were migrating the file server to a new platform. The Profiles share was moved to a new server. Each users TS Profile path was updated in AD. The two controllers (both local) were synch'd. But the three Terminal Servers would not look to the new server. Found that key was still pointing at the old server. We manually edited the key, but does anyone have an idea as to how it should have worked? And why it might have failed? Thanks, Chris

Vista RDP client and printing
by Guest td- 3 replies

I have a user that recently upgraded his home PC to vista. He has a brother intellifax 2820 printer. Apparently this printer worked on his old XP PC but does not work on the new one. I have 2 questions. the first is when you go to add a printer driver in server properties when it asks what driver you want to install Vista is not an option. Also because this is a multifunction device I would like to use a simple driver that would work in its place. Can someone recommend a replacement driver for it? TIA Thomas

Two specific users disconnecting each other
by Guest schkeb- 2 replies
Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition Service Pack 2 running Terminal Services Client OS: Windows XP service pack 2 Remote Desktop control version 5.1.2600.2180 The server can accept "unlimited" number of connections. In practice, about 20 users use it on a day to day basis, all having remote admin permissions. For all but two users, this is working fine, they can work at the same time. However, for the two users, if one logs on, the other cannot log on without disconnecting the first user. It is only affecting these two users. Cloned the AD account of one user, to see if that solved anything. It didn't. Any ideas? Thanks

reboot problem via terminal services
by Guest pie8ter- 2 replies

We have more than twenty windows 2003 SP2 servers in our datacenter. I use remote desktop (RDP) to manage these servers. When I reboot the servers through RDP connection, sometimes the server doesn't let me RDP again after it reboots. I physically have to go to the server room, open the rack, login and reboot the server again. Then I can make the RDP connection. Admin and application modes are enabled on the servers. This issue has caused me great pain when I reboot the servers from home. I am not sure why this is happening in all the servers. Thanks
