TS Excel problems
by Guest BoboTWG- 0 replies

Hi. I am running SBS2003 Premium as my domain controller. I have an application server running Server 2003. This server is just running QB Enterprise and holds the Excel files that 5 remote stores log into and modify every day. The Excel files reside on the server. THe users log in using "Connect to Small Business Server". They then just open their folder that is located on their desktop. This folder is just a shortcut to their folder on the server. They usually can just double click on the file ( daily sales, etc.) that they need to update. Lately the need to open Excel and then browse to the file to open it. If you try to use the shortcut, Excel op…

Strange printing issue with redirected printer
by Guest andreas.fonferek@gmail.com- 0 replies

Hello, a few days ago, a strange printing issue occured at our site. We have an employee, who works on a WinXP Pro SP2 Workstation with a HP Color LaserJet 2550 attached via USB. She is connected to a Windows Server 2003 via mstsc 6.0.6000. Until the error occured, she could print. But since a few days ago, it is impossible to print from within the terminal session. We reinstalled the drivers, and the printer appears in the session, but it ist even impossible to print a testing site from the printer dialog. The dialog only says, that it is impossible to print. We also tested the registry hack, described in KB302361. Who could help me? Thanks, Andreas

Hi Have two Lexmark T640 printers, set up on the domain controller. The printers have 3 trays. From the dc, I can see the 3 trays. When a user logs into terminal services, he can only see one tray. Any idea what would cause this? Thanks

KB951748 creates problems with USB printers
by Guest WDS- 0 replies
If a user has KB951748 installed, their USB printers will no longer connect properly to Terminal Services. Usually not even showing up as an available printer on the server. When they log off their PC will hang for several minutes. After logging off their printer will show on the server as still connected. While they are connected the printer does not show up. restarting the print spooler does clear out the old connections. If they untick printers under resources before doing the RDP connection then they logg off normally with no hang. If KB951748 is uninstalled the problem goes away until autoupdate puts it back in. Service Pack 3 appears to h…

Session Directory and Dead Servers
by Guest lozza- 0 replies

Guys, I guess this is quite a niche topic as I cant find much out there. I have even read and re-read the SessionDirectory.doc from Microsoft and cant seem to figure out what I am looking for... Here is my scenario. 2 TS Servers 1 Session Directory Server hosted on a Cluster DNS Load Balancing being used at present TS Servers are hooked into the SD... everything works great. A given user can RDP to the Cluster name (VIP) and connect to either TS1 or TS2. If user connects to TS1 and disconnects session this is fine as well. When that users establishes an RDP session to the Cluster name (VIP) again, whether he is dropped onto TS1 or TS2 for logon cred…

TS/Remote Desktop (RD) Compatible Printers
by Guest j0ey- 0 replies
Does anyone know of a current list of printers compatible with RD? We're having some issues with printers that are either too old or not compatible with TS/RD. We've tried installing the printer software on the server however some of the install programs say they aren't compatible with Windows Server 2003. In one case a Brother HL-1440 would lock up printing about 50% of the time. Thank you for your time.

adminstrator account locked down
by Guest Some IT Guy Pa- 0 replies

I am not sure how/when this happened, but in upgrading from IE 6 to IE 7 on a Windows 2003 R2 SP2 terminal server, it appears the 'administrator' account has been locked down. Because of this, I could not get through the run-once setup on IE7 and windows update will not work. If I log in using another userid that has admin priviledges (but not called 'administrator') all these features work. Is this a security feature that got introduced and I just never noticed? Is there a article somewhere with more details on this? The searches I did have not shown up anything useful.

Network drive redirection
by Guest MikeDub- 0 replies

Can anyone think of a way to prevent network drive redirection (from client to server). I'd like to do this on the server itself, so then I would not have to edit all client files (let alone we're using a Terminal Server add-on). I want to keep the local drive redirection, just not the network drive. Thanks

issue running scripts (of any kind)
by Guest Cary Shultz- 0 replies
Good morning! We have a WIN2003 R2 member server running Terminal Services about ready to go into production but my testing has unfortunately provided a little surprise: I can not run any scripts on this box. Specifically, I have a .vbs script for all of the users (logon.vbs) and it will not run. I can log on as me to the other TS and logon.vbs works (I get all of the mapped network drivers). However, when I log on as me to this one I get nada! We also have management software on all of the machines that we manage and my "Managed Services" colleague can not run any of his scripts. So, something is preventing this from happening on this "new box".…

MI5-Persecution: MI5 are Afraid to Admit Theyre Behind the Persecution (28118)
by Guest MI5-Victim@mi5.gov.uk- 0 replies

MI5 are Afraid to Admit They're Behind the Persecution MI5 have issued a formal denial of any involvement in my life to the Security Service Tribunal, as you might expect them to; but, more importantly, the persecutors have never denied that theyre from the Security Service, despite several years of accusations from my corner on usenet and in faxed articles. I am not surprised that the Security Service Tribunal found "no determination in your favour". I am however a little surprised that the persecutors have refused to confirm my identification of them; by doing so, they implicitly admit that my guess was right. "No determination in your favour" says the Secu…

Monitor CPU usage all all users on terminal server
by Guest HarryH- 0 replies

Hello, i need to enable a user (yes: A user!) to monitor the cpu usage of all users on a terminal server without making him a member of the administrators or power users group. I have added the user to the "Performance Log Users" and "Performance Monitor Users" groups to allow him to gather the relevant resource data on the server. One problem is, that a normal user cannot enable the "show processes of all users" option in Task Manager. This seems to be a hardcoded Admin-option. I have found two ways to circumvent this issue: 1. Use a different monitoring tool, e.g. PcrView 2. Use a registry-hack: http://www.windowsnetworking.com/kbase/WindowsTip…

What is a setting in 2003 server to disable prompting for username and password ? When starting a remote connection directly from client (XP), like this: mstsc.exe test.rdp, password is not asked, but if command is started remotely from server like this: psexec.exe \\10.10.10.10.3 -s -u user1 -p user1 -I -d mstsc.exe test.rdp, everything works ok, but password is allways prompted.

RDP - Login Problem - Access Is Denied
by Guest Aidan-Eire- 0 replies

Hi, I am suddenly getting an error when trying to logion to a WIN2K3 server with RDP authenticating from a domain. The error I get is: "the system cannot log you on due to the following error. Access is denied" Sometimes after multiple tries I can login. On google searches I'm seeing hints towards DNS and active directory. For testing, I created a temporary local logon on the server in question and can access via RDP with this logon no problem. Can anyone shed any light on this for me please? Thanks in Advance, Aidan..

IE 7 and Windows Desktop Search
by Guest cendrars- 0 replies

Hello, I have a customer desiring the installation of IE 7 and Windows Desktop Search to his 2003 terminal servers. The customer profile environment is creative in that he has ntuser.man files retained within roaming profiles. The AD environment is 2003. We have IE 7 installed, but on the initial launch by the user the home paged defined within the GPO (IE 7 inetres.adm applied) does not appear. Instead the marketing page for Windows IE appears. How might we circumvent the IE 7 marketing page, and receive the home page as defined by the IE 7 GPO applied to the container? Windows Desktop Search presents a configuration window for each test sessio…

I am not sure which newsgroup I should post this to so I am trying both ..terminal.services and .outlook.installation. Sorry for the cross-posting. I have a Windows 2003 R2 Small Business Server as a Domain controller and a Windows Server 2003 R2 running Terminal Service as an Application Server connected to the Domain. I have installed Access 2007 Runtime and Outlook 2007 on the TS. I have an Access 2007 database that is run by many Users, none of which have mailboxes on the SBS Exchange Server. They connect to the SBS using Remote Web Workplace, authenticate to the server, then connect to the Terminal server using RDC 6.1. The only reason I installed…

Windows 2k Adding Cal
by Guest Dan Davies- 0 replies

I have a windows 2K server running TS, up until recently all my users have been windows XP pro clients. As expected when they first connect they get a temporary license, when that license expires it get converted to a "FREE" license. However recently some users are using Vista, so I purchased 10 cals which where TS 2K3 License cal, but was told they are backward compatible. As expected all the Vista Client can now connect as their temporary license have been converted to a purchased CAL. My problem is that the Windows XP Pro machines are now taking up these purchased license, and not be converting to the "Free License" in two weeks nearly call the purc…

Printer access security
by Guest Januar- 0 replies

Hi, I have a HQ where the Terminal service server is deployed. The server is Windows Server 2003 R2 and the clients are Windows XP. We do not deploy VPN between sites. For some reasons a domain is not created so it is a non-DC server. There is a user at a remote office (let's call it UserA) who has a directly connected local printer. Another remote office has a user called UserB. When UserA connects to the Terminal Service, he can print to the local printer. We setup this by connecting the local resources and adding a printer driver on the server. Now, UserB wants to use UserA's printer, but he cannot see the printer. Both users are normal users. If…
