ASP.NET logged in TS?
by Guest Bennett- 3 replies

I just checking a client's TS sessions, and saw the ASP.NET account had logged in over the weekend and had been disconnected for 17 hours. I know ASP.NET is a worker process, but why would it be logged in to TS? Would the ASP.NET account be hosting a TS session for an app (which doesn't make sense to me), or should I be concerned that someone set ASP.NET random password to something known and is using it as a TS backdoor? Has anyone ever seen ASP.NET logged into TS?

New to Terminal Services - Where to Begin
by Guest powlaz- 4 replies

I could use a lot of direction with setting up a Windows 2003 Terminal Server. Can anyone point me to an online guide or recommended reading? We are a small company. We have a Windows 2003 domain but we don't use group policy. A lot of the blogs that I've found go into detail about setting up Group Policy after running the Terminal Services setup wizard. Do I need to have this? Is a second NIC required? I thought I read somewhere that one NIC should be connected to the network and the other should be directly connected to the Internet. We don't use roaming profiles. I don't really have a central location to put them. Will this hurt us? I hav…

TS connect to a License Server from DMZ
by Guest Dag- 4 replies
Hi, what needs to be done for the following scenario: A web server in DMZ needs to be setup to use a Terminal Licensing server so more than 3 people can connect at once. It is not apart of the domain and it is a firewall between the web server and the licensing server. I've tried to open up for port 135 and port 5000-5100 in the firewall. I've set up the rpc dynamic ports to be static on both machines( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/154596 ). And rebooted both of them. But it still can't find the licensing server. What have I missed? Server 2008 TS Web Access Remote systems cannot connect from the Internet
by Guest Jon Osborn- 7 replies

Please forgive I am new to TS Web access on 2008. We have installed a test server and installed TS and IIS on it. We are looking to publish programs to TS Web Access, have a hole poked in the fire wall to allow Internet users to access our "site" and use their programs from home. I have TS Web access working great on the internal network but when the same laptop is at home and we connect to our TS Web Access server from outside the network we get an error that states "The Remote Computer could not be found". What could have done wrong? Do we need to open more ports for RDC? I was under the impression we just need port 80 & 443 open. Thanks…

Does Win2K8 allow a remote desktop from the server to itself? I get a "Your credentials did not work". The 2nd session never comes up, just the logon remote desktop logon box. Basically I want to have a 2nd session to copy large amounts of data will using session#1 independently. This work in Win2K3.

Loopback processing
by Guest Phil- 7 replies

Hi I'm in the process of setting up loopback processing and would like to check a couple of things. I have set up the GPo "TS Computer" to Replace and applied it to the Ou in which the TS are members of and given the TS Users "read" and "apply group policy" and TS Admins "Deny Group policy" All my settings are in the computer configuration and i have disabled the user configuration. Now I want a seperate GPO for TS Users, called TSUsers do I still need to set Looback to replace here as well? I am assuming that I apply it to the same OU that the Terminal servers are in?

Moving TS to new Domain -GPO Copy?
by Guest compsosinc@gmail.com- 6 replies

We need to move our 2003 TS from a Windows 2000 domain to a Windows 2003 domain (with new server & domain name). The TS is in its own OU and has a Group Policy established for it. How do we leave this GPO intact when it gets moved? Thanks!

After removing, rebooting, and reinstalling Terminal Services for Admin access only, I get the following System Event ID: 7000 - "The Terminal Services service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified. " When starting the Terminal Services Configuration snap-in I recieve the following message: MMC could not create the snap-in. This is not an AD controller. I have no problems on other W2K3 servers. I searched around and didn't find anything relevant - yet.

Very Slow Respond.
by Guest sihfmis- 2 replies
I am not sure where the origins of the problem begin, so I will strat with TS since that is where it seems to be. I am running a single 2003 TS server (standard edt), so to have a second server, in a 2003 Enterprise domain. When the remote clients log into the TS server, the response is very slow (sometimes 5 to 10 minutes). it causes latency issues with applications and drive mapping. Any suggestions where I should start looking? I am at a loss.

Changing SBS domains for Terminal Server
by Guest compsosinc@gmail.com- 3 replies
We currently have a 2003 Terminal Server in a SBS2000 domain. We are setting up a SBS2003 server with a new domain name. 1) What is the method for removing the TS from the SBS2000 domain and joining it to the SBS2003 domain. For instance, do we make it part of a workgroup first and then join the new domain? 2) With SBS 2003, should we use the "connect computer" method for joing both workstations & TS, or can we use the "Network Wizard"? 3) Should the GPO for the TS remain intact? Thanks
