TSGateway without SSL
by Guest Stuart Parker- 1 reply
Hi, I'm setting up TSGateway for my small home office. Is it possible to remove the requirement to use SSL?. I know it's not recommended, but I'm not fussed about the security side for this implementation. Another reason for this is that I have a single public static IP, and am using ISA server. I am already publishing OWA thru SSL, using forms authentication, and cant' have multiple web listeners for port 443 having only a single public IP address. Cheers.

One application, different users - security
by Guest r042wal- 4 replies

Is it possible to host an application on a Terminal Server and have different users from different companies connect to the application and yet maintain security? I would like to have different profiles / desktops for the different companies that log on. Also, I would not want users to have access to the files and folders. Can all this be done inside TS? Thanks

Don't see local drives on PC remoting into TS?
by Guest boe- 1 reply
Hello, I have a client at home who remotes into our TS box - even if they log into the administrator account - they don't see their local drives listed in My computer on the terminal computer. I remote in using the same account from my home PC and I see all of my local drives listed under other. I even remoted into their session and couldn't see the drives so I know it wasn't them just saying it - they actually weren't listed. They are running Windows XP SP2 at home. Somehow I doubt it is their local firewall but could be wrong - any suggestions?

Remote Desktop is flaky
by Guest Derek Disconnect- 2 replies

I hope this is the correct newsgroup. I have tried to hire local computer businesses in the area to help configure my network but they have not been able to solve my problem. The business that setup my network is no longer in business. Now I am trying to solve it myself. With Windows XP pro (my work) and home (my house) I remote with windows remote desktop to a Windows 2003 server R2 for business purposes (POS application that is currently not being used daily because of this problem). I can connect but the connection is flaky. What I have tried: Installed Keepalives on server and remote computers. Changed ISPs except at server location. I have had …

Windows Server 2003 does not open its own share
by Guest amzd- 1 reply

Hello, I observed a funny thing. We have several Windows Server 2003/Terminal Server 2003. They are part of a domain, let us call it .pac. Let us call one server Munich. The servers have several shares, let us call one share on Munich "Inside". On server munich I open The Run-Window (Start, run) and then typ in: \\munich.pac\Inside The Server does not open the share, it asks for authentication which never works. I alway receive: Logon unsuccessful. Windows is unable to log you on. Be sure that your user name and password are correct. If I type in: \\munich\Inside then it opens the share immediately without any question. If I go to another windows server …

Incomplete printing on HP via TS
by Guest Bruce D- 1 reply

Hello all, I have a somewhat odd problem. The TS is a 6 month old 2003 R2 svr with plenty of RAM and drive space, and is a replacement for an older TS (which did not have this problem). So, here goes: When a client prints to an HP Officejet All-in-one 4110, I can see the job spool to the TS queue, then to the local queue, and then disappear from both queues as if it had printed. AND, the local printer starts to react; it warms up and moves the carriage back and forth several times. And then it's done. It does not pick up a piece of paper, and it does not print - but the event log says it was a successful print job. (Yes, the printers work when used l…

Not all printers are showing up using RemoteAPP
by Guest Saucer Man- 23 replies
We are using RemoteAPP with Server 2008. At a remote location, our user is trying to print from the app but when he goes to select the printer from the app, only a few of his printers are showing up. If he goes to START-SETTINGS-PRINTERS, all his printers are there. I can't find anything in common with the printers that do show up in the RemoteAPP. One of the printers lives at the office, another lives at his remote location, the other are the Microsoft Document Writers. He really needs to printer to a PDFPrinter that is on his laptop. This PDF printer converts the documents to a PDF File. Anyone know how to correct this? -- Thanks!

How Does User Connect?
by Guest dave m- 3 replies
Basic question but cannot find answer. Terminal server setup on W2003 SP2 server, licensing correctly applied. User logs on to a LOCAL PC at their location, then uses "Remote Destop Connection" to logon to Terminal Server. How is this SUPPOSED to work, or put another way, when the user sits down in front of a PC, how do they directly logon to the terminal server? We want most users to do away with individual workstations and use a "dumb" terminal to log on to terminal servers. dave Admin (and one lacking knowledge, obviously)

using tsctst.exe
by Guest burgessb- 1 reply

Does the output from tsctst indicate specifically if my client has a per device or per user TS CAL? We have two 2003 SP2 TS/citrix farms, one configured for per user, the other for per device and both acquire their cals from a single license server. I need to be certain that my clients get the correct type. Here is the output on a per device client (which lists both machine and user): *** License # 1 *** TS Certificate Version - 0x00050001 Licensed Product HWID - 0x00000002, 0x06094089, 0xa74be8bb, 0xa85a33e8, 0x33989b6c Client Platform ID - 0x000000ff Company Name - Microsoft Corporation Issuer - CORE Scope - Site License Serv…

Licensing
by Guest RandyH- 6 replies

I'm confused... Does the TS licensing server need to be on a domain controller? I have a 2003 TS where I have the licenses installed. Recently we deployed a 2008 TS published apps. my boss told me to move the licenses to that 2008 member server. Since then my 2003 TS cannot see a TS Licensing server and says its under the grace period again, BAH! Do I need a 2008 domain controller to host the TS Licenses? and then the 2003 TS will "see" the licensing server? Any help, thank you so much, RandyH

Playing RDP packet streams
by Guest yairinbal@yahoo.com- 4 replies

Hello, I am looking for a way to record and play RDP sessions. I wonder of someone knows methods of rendering RDP protocol stream into the screen. For example, in Vista Microsoft provides the RDPViewer COM Object (used by Windows Desktop Sharing API) which renders RDP into the screen, however it requires actual TCP connection to the server and it does not accepts RDP packet streams. I know that there are some products that do so (like RecordTS), but I wonder if a simple functionality can be provided by Microsoft SDKs. Regards, momo

IdleWinStationPoolCount
by Guest news.microsoft.com- 6 replies

I seem to remember that the registry key IdleWinStationPoolCount handled the idle sessions, so that i could have idle sessions and still have the ability to connect while under Terminal Services Remote administration mode. It does not seem to be the same on windows 2003. How can I change this in server 2003?
