ms access runtime on TS 2003
by Guest merlin2049er- 1 reply

ok, I've got a few issues using the runtime version of MS Access 2000 on the TS 2003. 1) (appname) msaccess.exe crashes (modname) msjet40.dll, I've sent an error report to Microsoft, but it's not quite like vista (where it may give you a possible solution) 2) (appname) msaccess.exe crashes (modname) vbe6.dll. Not sure what's causing this to continually crash, but our users are not having any fun. Is there a better way to send these error reports to Microsoft and maybe get an answer? Thanks, JG

Issues with XP Remote Desktop Versions 5 vs 6 and NT4 Terminal Ser
by Guest mopalinski- 2 replies
On XP desktops that have not been upgraded to SP3, I am able to access my NT4 Terminal server using RD 5.1.2600.2180, however when I attempt to access the same NT4 Terminal server from a PC with SP3 and RD 6.0.6001.18000, I am not able to access the NT4 Terminal server and get the following error: "Because of a protocol error, this session will be disconnected. Please try connecting to the remote computer again." If I copy the Remote Desktop version 5.1.2600.2180 to the upgraded PC along with the associated DLL, I am able to once again connect to the NT4 server. Does there exist a fix to make the newer version of Remote Desktop connect to the NT4 ser…

Connecting to a server by name
by Guest Jasper Recto- 2 replies

I have a Cisco ASA firewall that allows me to VPN into our company domain. When I'm in the domain, I can ping any computer or connect to it through terminal server by using the computer IP address. Is there anything I can do so that I can connect to computer by its computer name? If I try to ping a computer name, the DNS can not resolve it. Is there a host file I can edit that can reference the computer name and it's corresponding IP address? I'm on Windows XP. Thanks, Jasper

How do you prevent the security warning "unknown publisher" for all users?
by Guest Saucer Man- 24 replies

When a user launches a RemoteAPP program, he gets an Open File - Security Warning. It says "The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?" The dialog prompt refers to the drive letter mapping and the .exe in question. How can I set up the terminal server so these prompts do not happen to any user? -- Thanks!

I have a Windows 2003 R2 Terminal server that is using the Local User and Groups and NOT Active Directory. I have set the Group Policy as follows: Computer Configuration - Administrative templates - Windows Components - Terminal Services - Sessions "Set time limit for disconnected sessions" = 1 Day "Sets a time limit for active Terminal Services sessions" = 1 Day "Sets a time limit for active but idle Terminal Services sessions" = 1 Day "Terminate session when time limits are reached" = Enabled After 10 minutes of idle time the client will disconnect. Their session is active which is what I want but they shouldn't be disconnecting. Do I need to res…

default profile within Terminal Services
by Guest Owen@7- 5 replies

Running 2000Sp Pk 4 TS server is Server2003 Users only use TS for a billing and scheduling program, and they use their workstations actual desktop. These machines are using mapped drives (logon scripts) and folder redirect (group Policy). When they logon to the TS server, their profiles are mapping the drives and trying to use the folder redirect. I want them not to do this. Maybe a default profile for all? Any suggestions. Regards,

issue running scripts (of any kind)
by Guest Cary Shultz- 0 replies

Good morning! We have a WIN2003 R2 member server running Terminal Services about ready to go into production but my testing has unfortunately provided a little surprise: I can not run any scripts on this box. Specifically, I have a .vbs script for all of the users (logon.vbs) and it will not run. I can log on as me to the other TS and logon.vbs works (I get all of the mapped network drivers). However, when I log on as me to this one I get nada! We also have management software on all of the machines that we manage and my "Managed Services" colleague can not run any of his scripts. So, something is preventing this from happening on this "new box".…

I have users accessing the terminial servers in a 2003 AD domain from a trusted domain. None of the group policies from the domain of the TS has any affect on those trusted users. How do I get group policies to restrict the user's acess to the TS? I need to hide My Computer and the C: drive. I cannot rely on policies of the trusted domain to restrict the users. Dennis

by Guest Marcus- 6 replies

Dear Newsgroup I cannot establish a remote desktop connection on my Windows XP Pro base unit (10.0.1.241) from my Windows XP laptop (10.0.1.242). Connection is an internal one only on 10.0.1.x subnet via router. Windows Firewall has been switched off, checked that port 3389 is listening with netstat -a, RD is swithced on, check that relevant services are running, even moved the RDP port from 3389 to 4489. Ran wireshark to monitor network activity and have noticed lots of TCP checksum error, first 4 packets are good, then errors as below Source Destination Proto Info 10.0.1.242 10.0.1.241 TCP warmspotMgmt > 4…

Win 2003 Server SP2 Enterprise Edition - RDP problems

I have a HP ML110 G5 with the above operating system installed. The problem I am experiencing is that I can't RDP onto the server unless I am logged onto the server locally as the Administrator. Once I do this I can RDP from any location. I have spoken to my colleagues at work who have never experienced such a problem before. Do I need to edit the properties of a service(s)? I would be grateful for anyadvice. Cheers

I'm wondering what you guys think of the following Silverlight Remote Access Web page instead of the default that Microsoft provides? http://narenda.mvps.org/coolts/ I really like this and would love to implement this if it ever makes non-beta. I can't tell if its waiting on Silverlight 2.0 or is just a demo application. Opinions?

Double login required. 2008 terminal server and XP SP2 or SP3clien
by Guest saveoncomputers@yahoo.com- 1 reply
- 279 views
When an XP SP2 or SP3 client logs into a 2008 terminal server with TSFarm, users are required to enter their login password twice. On the first login, Users are required to enter both User Name and Password. Once that is done, the next login screen only requests the password. Normally, the MSRDPCLNT passes auth to the server but for some reason, this server is not reciving or accepting the auth. Any ideas? Thanks Robert

Your Remote Desktop session has ended

Hello all -- I have a Windows 2008 Std installation with Terminal Services installed. The server is a member server of an Active Directory domain. I initially installed and used the Terminal Server on the 2008 machine during the trial period. I setup Remote Apps and had copied the .rdp files to my local workstation. Everything was working fine and life was good. I really enjoy the RemoteApp feature. I later activated Windows and soon thereafter ran VMware's CONVERT to P2V the machine to an ESX 3.5 host. No issues here. When I logged into the machine for the first time under ESX, it deteched that the hardware had changed and I needed to re-ac…

Terminal users default printer is not retained after logout.
by Guest saveoncomputers@yahoo.com- 0 replies

I use terminial servers with network printers. All users can use any printer but they set their own default printer. The default printer is lost when they log off. On 2003 server, I created the logon and logoff script below: Logon Script: REG IMPORT \\server\DefaultPrinters\%clientname%.reg Logoff Script: DEL \\server\DefaultPrinters\%clientname%.reg /q reg export "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Currentversion\Windows" \\server\DefaultPrinters\%clientname%.reg This works great in 2003 but in 2008, the %clientname% variable is not created while the logon scripte is run. And, it dissappears before the logoff scrip is started. IN 2008 I pu…

Newbie Question - Lock down client access
by Guest DanSim- 3 replies

I am looking into using thin clients for internet kiosk's and would like to know if there is a clear document that tells me how to lock down each users terminal service session to only one app (IE) with little or no permissions on the TS file system? Just to make sure my question is clear here is the scenerio. There will be multiple thin client computers (Wyse) that will automatically login to a windows 2008 terminal server. Upon login IE needs to run and open to a specific web page. No other access to the file system is needed. Other users will approach the thin client and be prompted to login with thier AD account. They will login and I would like …

I am new to TS. I have been designing programs using remote dcom servers that are getting activated by a client program from a different computer. Now some of my users are working on Terminal Server 2000 using dummy terminals. Is it possible to use dcom servers in this case? Another words, how can I launch a remote server in a specific user session? Thanks for help.

Printers are not redirecting.
by Guest Eli- 3 replies

Windows 2008 terminal services When connecting to TS server thru remote app, printers don’t get redirected. If I connect directly thru RDP connection, then if I want to print, I’m able to see all my printers and printers on the server. If I use RemoteApp (when RDP pops-up to connect printers are selected), then I don’t see any printers at all. Any ideas?

Hi, I have a TS that is also the Print Server for our network. I don't want TS users to be able to change the printers' settings. I would be even cooler to be able to define which printers they can see, but that isn't really an issue. More bothered about them fiddling around in there configuring defaults to undesirable settings. Any clues? TIA, Jarryd
