i have installed + activated Windows Server 2008 Terminal Licesning Server role in Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition. However, I am getting this error after performing activation. "The following error occured on the licensing server.0x534, No mapping between account names and security IDs was done." My domain controller is running Windows 2000 Advanced Server(native mode) with SP4. Is Terminal Services Licensing Service group available on Windows 2000 AD.I have not managed to find one? Quad or Dual Core CPUs??
by Guest Hank Arnold (MVP)- 8 replies

I will be ordering two new servers for a new/replacement farm. It will be running Windows 2003, PS 4.5, have50 concurrent licenses (our peak seems to be around 35 concurrent users). We will run Office 2003 (including Outlook), a database client (Misys HomeCare) and Corel WordPerfect Office 2000 (mostly legacy files). I'd appreciate opinions on whether it makes more sense to get 2 Quad core CPUs or Dual core CPUs.... -- Regards, Hank Arnold Microsoft MVP Windows Server - Directory Services

TS, Outlook autoarchive won't go away
by Guest Len B- 4 replies

I'm not sure whether to ask here or in Outlook group so here goes. OL2k3 on a 2k3 TS. Error message: "The file ....\Outlook\archive.pst could not be found" [OK] This message usually pops up when initiating a new message. Clicking ok brings up the "Create/Open Personal Folders File" dialog to create/save archive.pst. However, the setting under Tools|Options, Other tab, Autoarchive button shows auto archive to be turned off. Is there anything else that could be causing this popup? It is driving the users mad. -- Len ______________________________________________________ remove nothing for valid email address.

We have several users who connect to our server, using TS, over an internet connection. We have noticed that there have been a lot of users trying to get into our server, using TS. We need to secure it better and would like to know if we can use certificates, on the clients PC to authenticate them? TIA

Blank Screen after RDP Logon
by Guest jama- 1 reply
After logging in using RDP, I get a blank screen for a while and then disconnect. Once it looked like the desktop would load but only flashed on the screen for a fraction of a second. I think I saw it say something like "hm sync window error" but it was literally a flash on the screen. VNC and LogMeIn both work fine, but I would prefer to use the RDP client only. I have tried disabling the bitmap caching, different resolutions and color depth, removing VNC, tried MTU 1300 and 1500, tried different user accounts, and am out of ideas. Thanks for your help.

When a user launches a RemoteAPP program, he gets an Open File - Security Warning. It says "The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?" The dialog prompt refers to the drive letter mapping and the .exe in question. How can I set up the terminal server so these prompts do not happen to any user? -- Thanks!

Redirected Printer Disappears
by Guest Sarah Kingswell- 1 reply

One particular terminal server user on a Windows 2003 Terminal server uses printer redirection to map a local HP 1018 Laser Printer. This has been working for a year or so. Just recently the printer has been disappearing from the users profile. They are able to print to it and then it just suddenly disappears.
