by Guest melaniem- 3 replies

I have a user who is having problems coping files from her remote session desktop to her laptop's desktop. I checked the Local resource settings and "disk drives" is selected. When she tries to copy and paste she gets this message: "Item not collected: Format not supported by Office Clipboard" and I haven't been able to figure out what the problem is. This happens with word docs, excel, jpg, pdf and other common file types. Suggestions?

passing local printers through remote desktop
by Guest Thomas Juracek- 9 replies

I cannot get local printers to pass through a remote desktop session unless (I surmise) the non-routable IP networks are the same. Is there a way around this, or do I need to configure all my domains with the same non-routable IP address scheme to allow a local printer to be used in a RDP session? The same prohibition appears to apply to the copy/paste commands when applied at the file level. Thank you for you help. -- Tom Juracek

We have an SBS 2003 Prm (with 10 Cal's), and i have to install a Terminla Server on an Old Dell Server with Windows 2003 R2, we need Five users to come in on RDC via the SBS 2003 which has two NIC's one for LAN and the other for WAN(static IP Address). to go to the Terminal Server and run application's. can anyone point me in the right direction so that i can configure the SBS 2003 to use the Terminal server (we have bought 5 Terminal Server Cal's) and have installed them on the TS Server. Is it possible that the users come in via the statics ip address and be routed direct to the TS Server?. Many Thanks J

limit application to one instance across multiple terminal session
by Guest Haakon D- 2 replies

I am working with a terminal server (win 2003 sp2) that we have installed a the 3rd party client application for our database on - however this app seems to be limited to one licence per machine - and if two are detected one bombs out and causes corruption. I want to ensure that no more than once instance of the application is allowed to run on the server at anyone time - something that simply informs the second user that *user* currently has the app open etc would be fine. I've read about mutexs etc - but these solutions all seem geared to someone customising their own application to prevent multiple instances. thanks for any advice Haakon

proper way to copy terminal user profile folder
by Guest OM- 3 replies

Hi, One of our TS users is having a lot of problem with her TS session, all other users seem to be fine. I was thinking there might be a problem with her user profile. So I copied an existing working TS user profile and renamed it to her existing profile name. I then assigned her full control on the "new" profile folder and reset the permission on all the child objects. I tried logging in. However, I was seeing difference kind of error message when launching different type of applications, Word, Excel and Outlook. Did I miss something when I did the profile copy? What is the proper way of doing such profile transfer? Thanks

Cannot print from office
by Guest Sarah Kingswell- 3 replies

I am running office 2002 in a terminal server environment. One of the users cannot print from excel, word, outlook. Only the office suite appears to be affected. Each application returns a different type of error. Mainly, check cables, reinstall driver etc. The user can print a test page and can print from Sage. This is the second time this has happened in the last 6 months. Previously I had to recreate the users profile but I don't want to have to do this each time it stops printing. The printer is an HP officejet Pro 550 and maps as a session printer attached the to thin clients usb port. Is there anyway I can fix this without recreating the p…

Can I virtualize my TS Gateway server?
by Guest googlegroups@trailer.net- 4 replies

I'm wondering if "security-wise" it would okay to create my TS Gateway server as a virtual server under Hyper-V, along with all of my other VMs? I could give it its own dedicated NIC if that would help matters, as the host server has 6 NICs. Our Checkpoint FW should handle all the filtering necessary... Thanks, Mike

TS 2008 Questions
by Guest tom_tom88- 2 replies

I have 15 remote users who are accessing a TS2008 server via rdp sessions. The TS 2008 server is on a W2K3 domain. They logon to a local domain and then the RDP session fires up from the startup folder (?). I'm sure there is not, but is there anyway to get them to logon directly to the TS2008 server? Also as part of Win XP active desktop we have an html file that is on the desktop with various links and shortcuts etc, how can put this on the desktop of these users as I can see no way of doing it on the TS 2008 server? Thanks. Tim

Printer question
by Guest Cary Shultz- 1 reply

Good morning! We have a situation where a client has a couple of servers on-site and all the other servers (including the two Terminal Servers) are at a co-lo. There is a Firewall-to-Firewall VPN between the two locations, so connectivity is not an issue (well.....). More specific information: there are some eight shared networked printers that are physically located "on-site". They are all shared on one of the two servers (\\servername\printersharename). Adding them / accessing the printers is not an issue - on the local LAN or via a TS Session. My question is this: when a user logs onto a TS session I am able to add all eight of the networked …

Hello, I am using an RDP ActiveX (Server: XP, Client: XP). Recently I got an 'OnDisconnect' event with error code #2824. I looked e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e (including here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa382170(VS.85).aspx) but I couldn't find the meaning of this error code. Can you please refer me to an updated list of error codes and their meaning or supply me with the official meaning of this error code? Thanks.

I log in to a remote windows 2003 server a couple of times a day using a saved rdp file. Sometimes the first and second trys seem to succeed (I see the desktop color) but then a 'closing' message flahes briefly and I'm out. I always get in completely if I try 2-3-4 times in a row. This kind of behavior is not consistent, comes in waves. It does not seem to be very related to # of users logged in, usually <10. Just hoping this has been seen before and has a typical cause that I can look in to.
