I have a Windows 2008 TS. The client minimzes an application or leaves an app idle for a while, they have to wait a while after they click on it to reactivate it. It says that it is reconnecting. It is really annoying. Is there a way to get rid of that setting? I have been in the RDP properites and set disconct, idle, etc to 'never' Any suggestions?

2008 Terminal Server - client end locking after 10 min of inactivi
by Guest ITFiveO- 2 replies

Question 1 - In 2008 Terminal Server, we are publishing an application. When the client runs the application all is well until they have 10 minutes of inactivity. Then the terminal server session will lock to a sign-in screen. How do I get rid of this? I know the default setting on 2008 for the console is to lock in 600 seconds (10 minutes). If I change this registry setting for the console, will it change it for my published application sessions also? Question 2 - Same scenario as above, except wait even longer for the client machine to go to screen saver mode. When this happens the and we unlock the client machine, the terminal session (publishe…

Questions about Remoteapp Programs that take over client extensions
by Guest Pharismod- 3 replies
I've installed Word 2003 as a Remoteapp program on a Vista workstation, with the 'take over client extensions' option enabled. There are a few limitations/frustrations that I've encountered and I want to make sure that they're 'as intended' before I give up. On a Windows Vista workstation, I have a network drive letter S: mapped to \\servername\Documents, inside which are several .doc files. I also have a WSS3 site that hosts some documents and is accessible via both the workstation and the TS session. Also, my TS session also has S: mapped to \\servername\Documents. - If I navigate to the files on the Documents share by UNC path and double click, the Remote…

TS 2008 User & Device CAL's
by Guest Peter Lowrey- 6 replies

Is it possible to mix the userage of User CAL's and Device CAL's on a single 2008 Terminal Server, and if so, how do you set the TS Licensing mode on the Server? Based on the information here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/licensing-terminal.aspx Particularly "You may choose to use a combination of TS Device CALs and TS User CALs simultaneously with the server software.", I beleived it was possible, but now that I'm actually looking to install the licenses, I'm scratching my head somewhat. Please Help.

Remote Desktop Connection Not Working
by Guest lwalker1958- 4 replies

For quite some time now the Windows System Admin's in my ofice have been able to use Remote Desktop Connections to remotely connect to client machine to install software and patches. All of a sudden we are unable to remotely connect to a batch of new systems we put out on the network. I happened to find a few settings that were not set as they should, e.g., Remote Desktop option on the System Properties Remote Tab was grayed out. The Terminal Services service was Disabled - I set it to Automatic and restarted it. The registry setting hklm\system\currentcontrolset\control\terminal server\fDenyTSConnections was set to 1 and I changed it to 0 The Po…

Publicating a TS Farm in TS Web Access 2008
by Guest Ralph- 10 replies

Hello, Can we configure a TS Web Access to populate the Remote Apps of several TS ? We did not want to setup IIS on the TS and installed the TS Web App on a dedicated server. We published remote apps that point to a TS Farm but as it seems we cannot enter a TS Farm name in the TS Web App configuration I had to enter a specific TS in the configuration. When this specific is down no remote apps are listed in the TS Web Apps. So how can we manage to publish remote app that point to a TS Farm with the TS Web Access on a dedicated server ? Thank you, Ralph

I was using a tool "fix" vulnerabilities on my system. Normally, on member servers, I back out the tools terminal server related "fixes" with changes to the registry. However, this time, it doesn't appear to be working. I am unable to logon to one domain controller using RDP with THE domain admin account. The local registry settings are: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal Services] "Shadow"=dword:00000000 "fAllowToGetHelp"=dword:00000000 "fWritableTSCCPermTab"=dword:00000000 "MinEncryptionLevel"=dword:00000003 "DeleteTempDirsOnExit"=dword:00000001 "fResetBroken"=dword:00000001 "fAllowUnsolicited"=dword:00000000 "fEnc…

Hi everybody, I have a 2008 environment. Now, our WTS crashed and I restored a backup made in May (which is no problem since we have pretty stable program releases). But when I try to log on, I get the message : An authentication error occurred: 0x80090304 What can that be? If I do not get over this problem, all my backups are for nothing. Any idea? Thanks a lot Ole

Hello, My company recently bought 20 Wyse V90L with Windows XP Embedded and we use the RDP Client to connect to a 2003 TSE Server. The problem is we regularly get the following message: "The remote session was disconnected because the Terminal Server client license stored on this computer has been modified." and the only solution is to delete the registry key [HKLM\software\microsoft\mslicensing] How can I definitely solve the problem?

Printing problems - compatable printers
by Guest JohnB- 5 replies

I had posted something earlier on printing problems and realized that I'm probably going about asking for help here in the wrong way. I'll explain the situation first; I am working a temporary assignment at a company that has about 30 to 40 TS users. They each have their own printer. All clients are XP or Vista, most are XP. The server is 2003 SP2 R2. One of my goals here is to help with their printing problems. All printers are inexpensive personal printers. Most are HP Laserjets; 1006, 1010, 1012, 1015, 1018, 1020, 1022 and 1055. With a few Oki, Brother and HP inkjet printers mixed in. No business class network printers (unfortunately). They…

The drivers are the same version. Why is this ?

Windows 2003 Server R2 Can't access remotely via Remote Desktop
by Guest Rebecca Owens- 1 reply

I need some serious help on this. I have done everything I can think of to access this server remotely. I keep getting this error: To logon to this remote computer, you must have Terminal Server User Access permissions on this computer. By default members of the Remote Desktop Users Group have these permissions. If you are not a member of the Remote Desktop users group or another group with these permissions, or if the Remote Desktop Group does not have these permissions, you must grant these permissions manually. I have tried updating the server, rebooting it, adding the permissions manually, tried logging in as a different user with full admin…

Upgraded my 2003 Terminal Server machine to 2008. All is well, except : Clicking the Connect button fails for the TSWeb facility (drops back to Connect), but connects ok if I use the new TS facility (IIS has both TS and TSWeb folders). Anyone know the script change I need to make on the Connect page, OR, what I need to do to have users land in TS without changing the existing URL they have for TSWeb? thanks. David

Client Printer Redirection
by Guest farleynx- 7 replies

Hello, I have several users connecting to a Win2K3 Terminal Server that need their local printers mapped. However, I would like to restrict them to only being able to map their local default printer. The following registry setting controls that on the client side, but I don't have access to the local computers in order to make that change. HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Terminal Server Client\Default\AddIns\RDPDR\RedirectDefaultPrinterOnly I thought I might be able to control this through the group policy so I created a custom .adm file (see below). ;Redirection of A Terminal Server Client's default printer only CLASS USER CATEGORY !!WindowsComponen…

I am having problem with XPe and TS Web Access. I'm using XP Embedded Standard which comes with the latest rdp 6.1 client, but when I try to access TS Web Access on Server 2008, I get the generic message about requirements. I can successfully connect to 2008 using rdp but not the web interface. When I go to the site it never tries to load the activex control mstscax.dll, I even tried regsvr32 but nothing. Does anyone have any ideas?
