Playing RDP packet streams
by Guest yairinbal@yahoo.com- 4 replies

Hello, I am looking for a way to record and play RDP sessions. I wonder of someone knows methods of rendering RDP protocol stream into the screen. For example, in Vista Microsoft provides the RDPViewer COM Object (used by Windows Desktop Sharing API) which renders RDP into the screen, however it requires actual TCP connection to the server and it does not accepts RDP packet streams. I know that there are some products that do so (like RecordTS), but I wonder if a simple functionality can be provided by Microsoft SDKs. Regards, momo

Migrating TS from 2003 to 2008
by Guest JEC- 2 replies

I have a client who currently has 2 servers in their organization. One is a SBS 2003 server that does all the jobs that SBS provides. The second server is a Server 2003 Std. box that is running Terminal Services and managing Terminal Server licensing. We have acquired a new Server 2008 box to replace the Terminal Server. I have purchased new 2008 TS user CALs for this server. My question is how to go about migrating Terminal Server Licensing from the 2003 server to the new 2008 server. If anyone can point me in the direction of some guidance on this subject, I would greatly appreciate it.

Can't start program at login for a particular
by Guest James Trogdon- 0 replies

I have a Windows 2003 R2 server that is running as a terminal server. I'm not running AD so I'm using the local user setup. I have my users setup on their Environment tab to "Start the following program at login". This works great for all users except one. The program doesn't run at all and he gets just the desktop. I even changed the program to run to c:\windows\notepad.exe as a test but it didn't even run that. Where can I look to find out what is stopping this user from running a program at login for the terminal server? Thanks for the help. James Trogdon

The following sentence is from ms e learning course:- --(( On TS Gateway server, the RPC/HTTP Load Balancing service and the IIS service use Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.0 to encrypt communications between clients and TS Gateway servers over the Internet. For TLS to function correctly, you must install an SSL-compatible X.509 certificate on the TS Gateway server.))-- The certificate mentioned in the above paragraph is the one to initiate the https and to authenticate the TS Gateway server, right?

2008 license on 2003 server
by Guest Marvin- 2 replies

We have a 2003 license server and we recently purchased licenses for our 2003 terminal server. Since 2003 licenses have been discontinued we were given 2008 licenses. Now when trying to install these licenses, I get an error message 0x13a7 which points to KB article 839878. This article says 2008 licenses cannot be installed on a 2003 license server. How can I install these licenses without having to upgrade the license server?

Reconnect to an existing session
by Guest dav- 10 replies

Hi all, I would like to set up Window Server 2003 to basically act like Windows XP. When I connect to the server via remote desktop it creates a new session on the server, now if I go to a different machine and connect again instead of disconnecting the other remote user and logging into that session it creates an entirely new session. I would rather it handle remote connections the same way XP does. Please help! Dav

I have some thin client (Wyse) units with windows XP embeded. When they boot they connect to a terminal services session. I can set the session to start an application which has been great. I now need to have two applications available to the users but that means I cennot set a "run app on connection" which in turn means they will have acces to the start menu... I would like to launch two apps with no shell on connection. Thanks

Remote Desktop in Vista
by Guest Eric- 6 replies

I am trying to connect to an XP Pro machine from a Vista Home Premiuim machine via Remote Desktop Connection. It works just fine behind my router or without it when I try to connect from a Windows 2000 machine. So that leaves me with the indication that there is a setting in Vista that is blocking it. I get the message "can't connect to the remote computer." Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Problem - Printers are not being deleted after a user logs off.
by Guest DMCDMC- 1 reply

I have a Windows 2003 Terminal Server, SP2. I have approx. 30 active users at any given point in time. I am using UPHClean to clean up sessions. I am however continually experiencing a problem. ie. A user was logged on at one point, say using 'session id 2', but has since logged off. A new user logs on later. The new user is given the same session id, however, if you look in the printers folder, the original users' redirected printers are still there and have not been deleted. This causes printing nightmares. If I do not reboot the terminal server frequently (almost nightly), then the problem gets worse, more user's complain. Not sure where to l…

User logs off strait after logging on
by Guest HellslayeR- 8 replies

Hello. I'm having a problem with Windows 2008 TS and Thin Clients. When my thin clients are using rdp to connect to the 2008 TS it works ace and I get the screen where you are asked for username/password. Right after I've typed that in and hit enter the user will log off. I then have to repeate the prosess 2-3 times and then suddenly it logs on to the TS just fine. I can also be "lucky" and it will log on the TS on the first attempt. I have 3 Windows 2008 TS and they all behave like this. EventID only logs that there has been a log on and a log off from my test user, it says nothing about failed attempts. Does anyone have a idea? Will provide mor…

Hello, I am planning on moving to Terminal Service Server 2003. I currently use Windows 2000 and Windows 2003. We have different versions of MS Office for different staff. How can I launch the right version of office for the right person? Do I need to install every copy of MS Office on the Terminal Server or just one of every Edition? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi When the user logs onto their PC, the script then logs them onto a Terminal Server session. I'd like to make sure there is nothing on the PC desktop, and only 'Printer' icon on the Start Menu. Any programs should be run via the Terminal Server. Is there a 'best way' to do this? Thanks Simoen

by Guest Assasin.x@gmail.com- 8 replies

We have a terminal server set up, every single policy we have has "remove clock from task bar" set to disabled, the policies were forcefully updated (gpupdate /force) yet still the clock is missing on the task bar when a user logs on. Anything else I can check here?
