Hi, I have 3 remote clients in other states that are connecting to my SBS2003 R2 server and if they leave the system idle for more than 5 minutes, sometimes less, it disconnects them. The SBS settings are set at the default settings, which allow unlimited access all the time. Any ideas on why they may be getting kicked off after such a short time? thanks

I was reading alot about Terminal Server, as this is my first experience, and I was reading about a special way to handle users at logon when you are running just one application on the Terminal Server. I can not find that information again. That is what I am looking for. I think it was on the Microsoft stie, but if so, I linked to it from the Vera Noest site. Vera, your site and links have been invaluable to me... Thanks!! Can anyone provde me a link to the info I am looking for?? Purge Credentials in TS
by Guest Jeff Clegg- 5 replies

Does anyone know how to purge the saved credentials in an RDP6.0 session ? Our users like the fact that the new RDP Client will save their credentials and avoid a double logon. However, when a client's password expires, the RDP session continues to use the old/expired password. Is there a way to purge them all out and start over ? JC

Hi; Since i have installed SP3 for win XP while using RDP for servers with single user each time multiple sessions are opened for a single user, not only from one PC if the RDP (RDP console in administration tool pack sp2) is used at another workstation and the same server is accessed with the same user, another session is provided by the server which was not the case in SP2. If any user from any workstation used to get connected to server the session of another user on another workstation with same server user used to get disconnected. Please help me to solve this issue. Note; I have used the terminal configuration policy (GPO) and set the restriction …

User Rights Assignment solution
by Guest Mike S- 1 reply

Thanks to our friend Brad Benner who gave me a wider look of the problem, I found out that If you go to "local Security Settings" (in a Windows 2003 Server Environment) expand "local policies" and then "User Rights Assignment" in the right panel you will find a policy object "Create Global Object" double click on that and add the user or group that's having problems, that seems to work very well, try that and let me know. Taken from here: http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?14@@.3bc35972/0 This solved it right away, you can just add the 'users' (security group), and that should fix it. By default, when you click to add a user, you have to click on 'location', and tic…

Users can't connect but 'administrator' can?
by Guest Lar- 3 replies

Attempting to set up TE connections to my 2003 server. I've created users, made them members of the Remote Desktop Connection group but still they cannot connect. I've opened the right ports on the firewall/router but still only the administrator can connect, other can't. Upon trying, they get the message that state 'you must be granted Log on right to this 'yadda, yadda, yadda'. The users are members of the RDC group. Why can't they not log on but the administrator can?

Anti-Virus software
by Guest rmth- 4 replies

I'm setting up some terminal servers. Should I be in install-mode when installing the anti-virus software? Or, does it just need to be installed on the server? I understand why the applications which the remote users will run need to be installed in the install-mode. I'm not sure if this also applies to the anti-virus software. Thank you, -- rmth

Not Best Practice
by Guest msumner- 4 replies

Ok not best practice... I am planning to set up TS on a domain controller - I think I did everything correct - set up license server, activated it, but am unable to open TS Manager. There is a window opened, but it is opened minimized and there is no way to maximize/restore it. In my License server listinging it shows "Existing Windows 2000 Server - Terminal Services Cal Token" Do I need to uninstall TS and try again? I want to test if TS is my best solution for a group of remote users to access the network applications.

TS and Non TS working
by Guest Mike K- 6 replies

Hi all, I've created a new TS 2008 environment for several hundred users. The TS side of things works really well with Group Policies and TS Profile paths doing most of the work. I now have a major problem. Users now want to use laptops in some parts of the business. Because all the group policies are running against the users, when they login using their usual name on to a laptop it pretty much cripples the machine! Is there a way around this i.e. loopback processing etc? Any help greatly appreciated. Mike

Server crash
by Guest TonyR- 1 reply
Well, it becomes unresponsive anyway. All users lose sessions but no blue screen, does not respond to anything at console. Seems to happen once every two or three weeks. Windows 2003 member server with Citrix PS4. The only clue is event 3019 MrxSmb appearing about once a minute throughout the day. KB article suggests that it is benign although I've seen one other user connect it with an unexpected server shutdown. AV is Sophos.

TS architecture

Hello everybody, The company I'm working for has several branch office (sites) in its AD. Today each site has its own terminal service (on windows 2000 server) environment = TS Licencing Server + TS Server). We plan to upgrade the infrastructure with Windows 2003 servers... I would like to know if it isn't a good opportunity to install only one TS Licencing server in the HQ of the company (and install TS server in the different branch office) instead of having several Licencing Server to manage ? Thanks in advance, Best regards

Re: Licensing Clarification - [MSFT], please

[PLAIN]Re: Licensing Clarification - [MSFT], please[/PLAIN] Vera, I have a similar query for a 2008 TS server I'm setting up. I had read that licensing is not enforced and am wondering: is the TS Licensing Role Service is even required at all? Lamaslany's post seems to indicate that you must still install TS Licensing and install your licenses, but that they won't be given out and reflected there. Makes me wonder if it's even required to set up a licensing server. Thanks for the additional clarification. CAL queries
by Guest cw1972- 1 reply

I don't have much experience with TS CALs but due to us running out recently I had to get up to speed on them, however I have a query if a more experience user out there can help. This page: http://www.msterminalservices.org/articles/Terminal-Services-CAL-Allocation-Process-Part1.html states that: The license server runs a process every 24 hours to recover CALs that have expired and place them back into the pool. But when I look in the TS Licensing UI I see CALs there that have expired recently and even ones that expired years ago. Does that mean that CAL recovery is never being run on these license servers and if so what is the best troubleshooting …

Session Broker - Moving the install directory:
by Guest Kristin L. Griffin- 2 replies

In this Microsoft article I found directions to move the Session Broker installation folder by using the LINKD.exe tool from the 2003 resource kit. http://blogs.technet.com/askperf/archive/2008/02/24/ws2008-terminal-server-session-broker-overview.aspx?CommentPosted=true#commentmessage I tried this, but got negative results. I stopped the SB service, then moved the tssesdir folder to a mapped drive Z. Then ran this command: linkd %systemroot%\system32\tssesdir z:\tssesdir The command completed successfully. But now Session Broker service fails to start. Putting the folder back and removing the LINKD command: linkd %systemroot%\system32\tssesdir /D This…

Single user account and terminal services 2008 printing woes
by Guest YADER.CELL@gmail.com- 1 reply

Hello, I am in charge of administrating a small size network with approx 40 users. I am currently testing TS 2008 to see if it will meet our company requirement. One of the tasks I need to be able complete is to NOT restrict a user to a single session. For example, I would like to have a single ID set for TS 2008 and have everyone log on via the same account. One of the advantages of TS 2008 I found out reading googles is that TS 2008 redirects printers per session and you are not installing any printer drivers to the server. The issue I am having is that I am not able to select a default printer to the client. Even although the printers * appears to be…
