We have an SBS 2003 Prm (with 10 Cal's), and i have to install a Terminla Server on an Old Dell Server with Windows 2003 R2, we need Five users to come in on RDC via the SBS 2003 which has two NIC's one for LAN and the other for WAN(static IP Address). to go to the Terminal Server and run application's. can anyone point me in the right direction so that i can configure the SBS 2003 to use the Terminal server (we have bought 5 Terminal Server Cal's) and have installed them on the TS Server. Is it possible that the users come in via the statics ip address and be routed direct to the TS Server?. Many Thanks J

Terminal Services Web Access - Registration
by Guest Jay- 4 replies

I have obviously done something worng or incompletely, judging by all the reports of how easy TSWA is to set up. Any help is appreciated... I have a TS Gateway which also is to serve as TSWA front-end. I have a TS NLB farm of two nodes running 2008 EE TSwhich have an identical list (1 application now, for simplicity/troubleshooting sake) of RemoteApp Applications. They are set to use the TS GW. The GW is added to the TS Web Access Computers security group on both nodes of the NLB TS Farm. When I go to the TSWA Administration pages and try to set the "Terminal Server Name" in the web part editor zone, I get the following error: "TS Web Access was not ab…

Hi Guys, Have a quick question. Have a global single AD spanning 6 Global Sites. Each site has TS Servers in place and working. The UK Site also has the TS Licensing Server (150 TS CALS). All The TS Servers are in Per User Mode. I am dropping Licensing configuration i.e. mode and license server name, via Group Policy Can someone let me know what happens if the the Licensing server becomes unavailable for any short amount of time (1 min to upto 24 hours)... Will no one be able to access the Terminal Services environment until it comes back i.e. will all access be cut off to the TS environments? Lozza

proper way to copy terminal user profile folder
by Guest OM- 3 replies

Hi, One of our TS users is having a lot of problem with her TS session, all other users seem to be fine. I was thinking there might be a problem with her user profile. So I copied an existing working TS user profile and renamed it to her existing profile name. I then assigned her full control on the "new" profile folder and reset the permission on all the child objects. I tried logging in. However, I was seeing difference kind of error message when launching different type of applications, Word, Excel and Outlook. Did I miss something when I did the profile copy? What is the proper way of doing such profile transfer? Thanks

RE: remote control "error 5 - access is denied" All; W2K3 Server SP2 I've followed this thread and report no joy trying to reset permissions to default. Unable to reset sessions or even send a message using an account which is a member of administrators. Further suggestions? tia S "RizFra" wrote: > Hi, > I have a problem when try to connect to a terminal session with remote > control in Terminal Service Manager; the error is > > Session (ID xx) remote control failed. > (Error 5 - access is denied) > > My termial server is Windows 2000 SP4 and the terminal client are win 2K/XP > > Does anyone know what can I do …

Duplicate Toolbars
by Guest Yuri NLD- 1 reply

When users logon to the terminal server. They sometimes have multiple toolbars in their taskbar. The toolbars are empty. When the user opens a program: the program is listed twice in the taskbar. The running programs, sort of speak, appears in two toolbars. It looks like the taskbar is duplicated. The other 5 toolbars stay empty. This phenomenon does not happen when an administrator log on to the terminal server. The terminal server is locked down with a GPO. Users are not allowed to make changes to the taskbar. (so they can’t close them now). The terminal server is W2K3,sp2 and member of a W2K3 domain. There might be chance that some toolbars are (e…

TS 2008 Questions

I have 15 remote users who are accessing a TS2008 server via rdp sessions. The TS 2008 server is on a W2K3 domain. They logon to a local domain and then the RDP session fires up from the startup folder (?). I'm sure there is not, but is there anyway to get them to logon directly to the TS2008 server? Also as part of Win XP active desktop we have an html file that is on the desktop with various links and shortcuts etc, how can put this on the desktop of these users as I can see no way of doing it on the TS 2008 server? Thanks. Tim

Remote Desktop - Is it a reboot fix?
by Guest AA- 3 replies

We’ve RDP issues with Win2K3 Boxes. Some times it works and some times it’s simply not. When I try to connect RDP after few seconds it just comes right back with no warnings no errors I have spent some good time but not able to find some route cause, which can help in finding the issues. I checked and remote access is enabled and my user is allowed. No firewall No issues found in event log entries Terminal Server Manager.5.2 I don't have any error messages; all it happens is RDP freezes. And I know this will work when we are ending up in rebooting the servers, which is just impossible. Please help me! Regards. Azeem

Printer question
by Guest Cary Shultz- 1 reply

Good morning! We have a situation where a client has a couple of servers on-site and all the other servers (including the two Terminal Servers) are at a co-lo. There is a Firewall-to-Firewall VPN between the two locations, so connectivity is not an issue (well.....). More specific information: there are some eight shared networked printers that are physically located "on-site". They are all shared on one of the two servers (\\servername\printersharename). Adding them / accessing the printers is not an issue - on the local LAN or via a TS Session. My question is this: when a user logs onto a TS session I am able to add all eight of the networked …

Many of our offsite users have saved Remote Desktop Connection (.rdp) files saved with the password. Is there any way to have TS 2003 reject that kind of login, and ask for it to be manually typed in?

Terminal server does not start after reboot

I am an IT consultant with servers in different envirnments running SBS2003 SP1 and Windows 2003 server SP2 and R2. I have an intermittent problem when after server reboots. I am unable to connect to the terminal server. I am running in remote administrator mode and when I attempt to connect I quickly get an error saying "The client could not establish a connection to the remote computer." If I telnet to port 3389 I am disconnected as soon as I type anything. The problem occurs when connecting locally or remotely via terminal services client. A reboot of the server resolves the issue I verified that the terminal service process was listening on po…
