Our Terminal Server needs to be accessed by a specific group of external users. For purposes of security, I have added a second network card, only enabled TCP/IP, and exposed it to the internet. I have locked down the Terminal server using Group Policy. I have created a new Connection in TS Manager. I have I have added a certificate and enabled High Encryption. How do i only allow a certain group to acces this connection and disable everyone else including Administrator? TR

I have a client that wants to give a non-admin the ability to remote control other users terminal sessions via the TS Manager. Any articles on how to setup a "Domain User" with such permission? -- - Igitur qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum. - Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented worker" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensed pharmacist" spam999free@rrohio.com (remove 999 for proper email address)

Permissions

Hi, I'm using TS on a 2003 Server and I've got a user logging on and what not. I've installed a program with the Admin account and I can install and run it just fine but when I try to run the program under the other user account I'm getting a permission error. I can't seem to find where I change the permissions for a TS user so I can run the program. Thanks Craig

I log in to a remote windows 2003 server a couple of times a day using a saved rdp file. Sometimes the first and second trys seem to succeed (I see the desktop color) but then a 'closing' message flahes briefly and I'm out. I always get in completely if I try 2-3-4 times in a row. This kind of behavior is not consistent, comes in waves. It does not seem to be very related to # of users logged in, usually <10. Just hoping this has been seen before and has a typical cause that I can look in to.

Remote Desktop - Is it a Reboot fix?

We’ve RDP issues with Win2K3 Boxes. Some times it works and some times it’s simply not. When I try to connect RDP after few seconds it just comes right back with no warnings no errors I have spent some good time but not able to find some route cause, which can help in finding the issues. I checked and remote access is enabled and my user is allowed. No firewall No issues found in event log entries Terminal Server Manager.5.2 I don't have any error messages; all it happens is RDP freezes. And I know this will work when we are ending up in rebooting the servers, which is just impossible. Please help me! Regards. Azeem

Are there any ISPs who would take a virtual machine we supply to them and run it on their premises, occasionally stopping the virtual machine to do a full image backup? We would access the computer by terminal services. I'm looking for this at a rate of under $30/month. I'm aware of vendors who would do this for $300/month, which seems laughable considering they could run 20 virtual machines on a $5K server. We figured our cost to do it internally on our own servers around $60/month per virtual machine, so I'm hoping someone out there has cheaper electricity and economy of scale. -- Will

One minute log off time
by Guest Neal- 9 replies

We have a new Citrix farm built on W2003 SP2. When users log off, it takes about two seconds to copy their profile, and a second or two to save settings. Then they have one minute to sit there and wait till the session finishese. We've tried new profiles, Admistrators and users (to see if it is permissions related) etc. Tried everything. Have insatlled all the patches we can find that are related (and some that aren't) Hive cleanup etc. Only clue I can give, is that if I log on via TS to the console, it takes about three seconds to log off. Same user in a normal session, one minute to log off. Any ideas? thanks, Neal

Automatic logon of RDP Client not working.

The environment is XP embedded (Thin Client) On a 'normal' XP PC I have been saving user's name/password in their RDP file so their logon is automatic. Now the RDP Client dialogue box does not even allow for the entry of the user/pwd and users MUST enter their logon details every time. -- Regards Tom
