RDC - Remote Desktop Connection - and Vista
by Guest Tony- 1 reply

I have been trying to get RDC to work with my Vista - ultimate system. When I try to connect to the Vista IP address, the RDC popup winodw on the Mac just comes up and the segmented spinning circle next to the cancel button just keeps on spinning. I can use the same RDC to connect to a Win2K box. I can also connect to the same Vista sytem using RDP from the Win2K box, so it doesn't seem to me like it would be a firewall setting. The RDC I am using is 2.0.0 Beta 3. the Mac is running OS X 10.4.11.

by Guest Dellboy- 2 replies

I have just installed a Member server (2003) on the network and want to turn off the Dell splash screen that slows down the initial access when presenting the logon box. I have done this before on other servers from Dell but for some reason cannot now find it. While I'm at it, Michael Dell if you're listening....Why don't Dell do everyone a favour and dump their logo which no-one cares about and will do more to annoy that promote customer loyalty. thanks dellboy

Terminal Services Licensing Conundrum
by Guest Tweezer- 3 replies
I have a TS licensing question I have yet to see answered, maybe someone here can help. All servers are 2003 Stabndard R2 SP2. All clients are XP Pro SP2 or SP3 All TSCALs are device CALS. We have two single domain forests with no possibility of establishing a trust relationship between them. All XP computers are members of domain/forest A and are currently able to use TS without any issues. We wish to now put a TS up in domain/forest B and allow XP computers from domain A to connect. I understand that we will need a licensing server in domain/forest B which should be no problem. Do I need to purchase TSCALs for domain B? All computers connecting …

Good morning! Just looking for some advice on something that should be simple but.... This looks like a long post....not really. Just a typical post from me: on main question with some details below it and then additional questions with a bunch of additional info! Question: Termianl Server Profiles: Terminal Server-specific or roaming? Backgroup: Client has - at the moment - one Terminal Server (WIN2003 SP2 R2). Clients access the Terminal Server both internally (some Thin Clients, some PCs) and externally. Right now only a couple of users are allowed by the client's internal policy to connect. This will be soon changing. Additionally, thre…

TS Remote App Web Access
by Guest alvinswim- 2 replies
We recently installed a test 2008 server with Terminal Services along with all the terminal services roles. One thing that interests us the most is the TS RemoteApp functionality. We currently use a third party app that sits on top of a 2K3 TS server that has a web portal where we control users access to programs, users can see the programs we want them to see. The TS RemoteApp web portal is a great addition that would allow us not to need the third party software, however as far as we can tell there is no capability to restrict access to certain programs we publish, as soon as you publish an app anyone that can get to the remote app web portal can la…

It seems to login fine after that. I uploaded a screenshot here: http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/2d97c5b06d.jpg Any ideas?

Error connecting to License Server
by Guest Sara L- 4 replies

When I launch my Terminal Services Licensing MMC, and it goes about searching for my license server, I get the following error: "No Terminal Server License server is availalbe in the current domain or workgroup. To connect to another license server, click Action, click Connect, and then type the server name." When I type the name in, it finds it just fine and the MMC opens and I can view my issued licenses, etc. I'm not sure why this started happening. It was opening fine before and I have not made any changes to this server. I've tried launching the MMC on the actual terminal licensing server, as well as from my XP workstation. Both cause the s…

Getting back SBS TS access
by Guest Bill M.- 4 replies

I made the choice due to the numbers of workstations to move from SBS 2003 R2 to full dedicated servers with roles on many servers. After weeks of fighting. Four calls to Microsoft at hundreds of dollars and we are up and running on the new gear.. What a month. So now I have two items that I am lost to fix. ( Well with out a further expensive call to Microsoft) So lets see if I can solve it with the wisdom on line here. Both are related to Termnal Service. a) On the server that has the Terminal Server running .. If I log onto the TS I of course need to be approved for access . If I go to the Domain Active Directory there is no Remote Desktop…

Is there a way to control who can reset terminal services sessions granularly? I would like to allow an otherwise standard user permission to reset other user's sessions. I specifically don't want this user to have permissions to install software on the system.
