by Guest Joe- 5 replies

Greetings- I have a Windows 2003 R2 Std Ed. SP2 32-bit server that is acting as DC for our network. Within the last couple months, we have been receiving the following error when trying to connect via RDP: "The computer can't connect to the remote computer." TS on the server is running in admin mode, checkbox is enabled under the "Remote" tab and users/groups have the proper access. This issue happens with XP/Vista clients running both RDP clients 5.2 and 6.1 There is no pattern to this occuring. It work for weeks then all of a sudden the above error appears when trying to connect. Rebooting the server is the only way to get RDP to start working pro…

Is it possible to move the logoff button in the Server 2008 start menu? I want it to be directly available in the start menu for my TS users, instead of the submenu it is in now.

Adding Terminal Services using ocsetup.exe
by Guest Lars Wurm- 3 replies

Hi, I am aware that servermanagercmd.exe is the CLI for adding components into the GUI version of 2008. However, since ocsetup.exe is working on both GUI and core version I want to make a generic script (which is in place) for adding components on both platforms. When adding a component into the GUI version, I can from taskmgr.exe see that an instance of ocsetup.exe is kicked off... my problem is that I dont seem to find the OC name for terminal services within 2008, that maps to the ocsetup.exe tool, or from the WAIK tools which often give u a hint what the name is if u wanna add it using ocsetup.exe. Has anyone come across the name for Terminal Servic…

I have installed terminal server 2003 64-bits. I have to make printers HP LaserJet 1010 connected to RDC clients XP computers able to print reports. It is supported by 32-bit version MS 2003 but not for the servers of 64-bits. That is where my problems starts. I am having a problem how to make a great number of printers HP 1010 printing. I have installed driver then I followed KB239088 and created file to include the user -defined mappings from the client-side to server-side drivers. I have checked via the "Printers and Faxes" applet. That was OK. However when I try to make it print reports it generates Event 1111: Error processing ntprint.inf. …

Terminal Services/Server & RD for Admin
by Guest MG- 2 replies

I ‘m sorry but I’m a Network neophyte. I just bought and installed SBS 2003. I wanted to be able to do two things: 1. Let my clients access their data but no one else’s 2. Be able to access the server remotely from my home PC. So, I was doing some research and found this reply from a Microsoft rep. “OK, long story, but here goes: In Windows 2000 Terminal Services, there are 2 different TS modes: 1) Terminal Services in Remote Administration mode This mode gives you a maximum of 2 simultaneous connections to the server, without additional licensing requirements. Designed for Administrators, to access the server remotely. By default, only Administrators…

Printing - Supported Devices
by Guest JohnB- 11 replies

About a week ago someone posted a link from HP's website that listed supported printers for TS. (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c00213455) But the document states it's for Citrix Presentation Server. I'm trying to find something comparable for Microsoft's TS. Does anyone know of such a document?

RDC Logins not Completing - stick on 'hourglass'
by Guest goneill- 2 replies

We run Remote Desktop Connection for all our users to connect to Terminal Servers (Windows 2003). They connect from PCs (XP and Vista) which are logged on locally, but connected to our Domain. Some users frequently find when logging on to their RDC session, that the logon process does not appear to complete and they get their session opening with the 'hourglass' curser permanently on show. The only fix appears to be to get a Domain Administrator to log-off their session from the Terminal Services Manager so they can try again. Sometimes it takes a few tries before they can get a working RDC session. The problem is not isolated to one Terminal Server…

Hello Everyone I don't have alot of experience with terminal services, hope some of you may be able to help. we have 10 terminal server running on 2003, each terninal server hosting different apps. Printer drivers are installed on each local terminal server. this is an administration nightmare, i am just thinking , is it possible to setup a centralise printer server and tell all terminal server to use the centralise server for printing. so when users connect to the terminal session, they will get the driver from the centralise printer server. not the local drivers from the terminal server. Any sugeestion will be really appreciate it

slow printing
by Guest Yannis- 1 reply

hello I have 10 clients with winxp pro sp2 on location A connecting via site-to-site vpn to location B on a TS Server. I have an issue with printing. When one client from location A tries to initiate a print job from his ts session to a printer located on site A which is mapped on TS server with a virtual port (\\ip\printer share name), the print job becomes huge (about 1.6mb a simple test page) and takes ages of course to be printed. A simple test page printed locally takes about 40kb. Any ideas why this happens? is there any solution? thank you

Limit remote acces to server
by Guest Miha- 3 replies

Hi Is it possible to limit remote access to Win2k3 server so that you could remote connect only to the console session (mstsc.exe /console)? If I disable remote access than also /console switch doesn't work, but if I set that only 1 connection is possible to server, it is possible that besides /console session another admin logs into server, but I want that /console session will be the only way to remotely connect to a server. Thank you in advance Regards, Miha
