by Guest Eberhard Wagner- 6 replies

Hi All, I don't get the Terminal Server User Cals working. There is still the balloon "Cannot find Windows 2003 Terminal Server License Server". Installing the License was without any error, no error in eventlog, I restartet the Service "Terminal Service License". In the window "Terminal Server Licensing" the Server is activated, in Product: "Windows Server 2003 - Terminal Server Per User CAL Token", Type: "Open", Total and Available: "5", Issued: "Not Applicable", which seems to be ok in Server 2003 SP1. Under Terminal Services Configuration- Server Settings is Licensing "Per User", Server discovery: Automatic and discovered under Domain/Workgroup …

tsclient drive problem
by Guest Kenact- 2 replies

I have a Windows 2003 Terminal Server in a domain. All clients are set to share their local drives to the server. Some users have their local drives listed after Control Panel. Others can only acces their local drives by going to \\tsclient\c. I have had two different users logon from the same pc and one can see their drives normally while the other can only access their drives using \\tsclient\c. Comparing their RSoP shows no differences except the user name. Both users AD profiles are the same except for names and email addresses. Thanks, Ken

Group Policy applied to Terminal services
by Guest Owen@7- 1 reply
I am running 2003R2 Domain. The group policy is used applied to users for a logon script (for mapping drives) and folder redirect. The policy is applied to organizational units which the users and computers for a specific site are in. Now alot of these users also access an application through Terminal Services (2 servers:Server 2000 sp 4 and 2003R2) at our administration building. These Terminal Services Servers are at another site. I do not want the Group policy applied to the user, when they logon to this server but it still seems to apply to the users when they logon to the TS. (The server is not a DC and it is part of the domain) Any suggestions,…

Windows 2008 RemoteApp
by Guest jdbruijn76@gmail.com- 1 reply

Hi, I have a question about the RemoteApp feature of the new windows 2008 server. Can I use this feature to publish an application so that that application can interact with for instance the office installation on the client computer? The application uses COM to interact with Outlook and Word. Another feature of the application uses Mapped Memory files to communicate with plugins that are installed in Outlook and Word. I don't this will work because I RemoteApp runs in the TS memory. Any thoughts on this? Thanks, Jos de Bruijn.

Laserjet always manual feed
by Guest exg001@gmail.com- 1 reply

I have a HP LaserJet 4240 setup as a network printer. From any other machine, it prints fine. From our Terminal Server machine, it has now started to always send the prints to a manual feed. We are old school at the moment: Terminal Server is NT 4.0 with Citrix MetaFrame 1.8. The drivers I'm using for the printer are HP LaserJet 4240 PCL6. If I print from a Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP machine, everything is fine. Any idea? I thought I'd try HP's Universal Print Driver, but I couldn't find it for NT 4.0.

Hi, When I create a new RDP Terminal Server connection using the Terminal Service Connection Wizard, the drop down box for Connection Type is greyed out, and only Microsoft RDP 6.1 is available. I have some Linux thin-clients that support RDP 5 - how can I configure TS2008 to work with these??

Saving Username and Password in Remote Desktop Client
by Guest Mike Schumann- 6 replies
I am trying to configure Windows Vista & XP laptops to easily connect to multiple different applications running on a Windows 2003 Terminal Server. I have created multiple user accounts on the terminal server, each of which starts up a different application. On each laptop, I want to create a shortcut on the desktop for each application. To do this, I tried to save a separate connection (rdp) file with the username and password for each application. This does not work. It appears that the username and password is not saved in the connection file, but is somehow saved only once for the server. Is there any way to make this work????? -- Mike …

Logon
by Guest JI- 3 replies

I have been running a Terminal Services server for 4 years with Windows Server 2003 Enterprise. The license server is on another similar server. Everything runs fine. I just introduced another server with the same OS. All criteria have been met, e.g., remote desktop users group is populated, Control panel/System/Remote Connections enabled. GPEDIT parameters set. This server is a member of Workgroup. No one can logon remotely. Is it possible that I can't have 2 or 3 servers running simultaneously? If that is not a problem, where am I going wrong?

Server VPN Setup Causes Internal Network to Stop - WIN2K Pro Serve
by Guest SCNetworks- 2 replies

Hello All, First - I apologize for my ignorance. I've been doing DB work for the past 5 years and find myself thrown in to all things Server / System Admin related recently. Setup is as follows: 1 DC running Win2K Pro Server with AD Domain. XP SP2 Clients, DSL Internet connection on non-static assigned IP address by telco. Siemens DSL Modem. To get to the server remotely right now I RDP in to it's IP address by doing a "whatismyipaddress.com" before going home. Others in the office now want to work remotely from home - remoting to their desktops directly. Company wants to spend minimally amount on hardware if any. This past weekend I followed the in…

TS/Remote Desktop (RD) Compatible Printers
by Guest j0ey- 0 replies
Does anyone know of a current list of printers compatible with RD? We're having some issues with printers that are either too old or not compatible with TS/RD. We've tried installing the printer software on the server however some of the install programs say they aren't compatible with Windows Server 2003. In one case a Brother HL-1440 would lock up printing about 50% of the time. Thank you for your time.

Too Many Printers!
by Guest thedude1013- 3 replies

I am having an unusual problem with our terminal servers. Whenever ANY user logs into any of our terminal servers, they can see all of the printers for all of the users that are connected to that particular server. My understanding is that only users with administrative access can view all printers. This has become a problem due to the fact that several hundred users connect to our accounting system through a terminal server and they are forced to browse all printers to find their printer if they have issues or want to switch to one of their other printers. Suggestions?

Weird Issue connecting to TS
by Guest steves100@hotmail.com- 3 replies

I have a client with a weird issue trying to connect to TS from a remote office. They have a persistant VPN tunnel running using their router. The tunnel is up and active, can ping the server. When they try to use remote desktop connect, they never get a log in box. either using IP or name (it was working last week). But, they can connect to the PDC using remote desktop. 192.168.10.2 works, 192.168.10.3 does not resolve. You can connect from anywhere else, I have tested local network and VPN from anywhere but remote office. No issue. They have reset all the networking components, nothing. Ping yes, remote desktop no. screen resolution
by Guest Phil Rushton- 2 replies
I'm having trouble understanding the screen resolutions in terminal services. The Terminal Server is 1024x768 which every client gets on their desktop but some people need a smaller resolution (800x600). I've tried setting the screen in the RDP dialogue but all that does is give them a smaller window. They need to be full screen but 800x600. How can I give them what they need? WTSVirtualChannelRead does not read anything
by Guest Roman Divacky- 2 replies

hi I am trying to read some data from a virtual channel using WTSVirtualChannelRead() but it reads nothing. When I try to write to the channel it goes just fine but reading is no go :( The client in question is "rdesktop" so I am quite sure the client is ok, but my app does not recieve anything from the channel. And yes, I put some debuging into the rdesktop to see if it really puts something on the wire. When I try to use WTSVirtualChannelQuery() to obtain file handle and ReadFile/WriteFile from/to it nothing works at all (nor reading nor writing). plain HANDLE foo = WTSVirtualChannelOpen(WTS_CURRENT_SERVER_HANDLE, SessionId, "rdpsnd"); WTSVirtua…

Net Use syntax
by Guest Brad- 1 reply

Quick question. How do I use the Net Use command for a COM1 port? I have been told it is NET USE COM1: \\client\COM1 but when I do this, I get a System Error 67: The network name cannot be found. What I am trying to do is to redirect the com port on the terminal server to use the com port on the thin client. This thin client is running Windows CE (and by the way, our thin client running Windows XP embedded works). Thanks for the information

Pressing Delete in Outlook causes a problem
by Guest CCripe- 1 reply

I have one user who has the same problem repeatedly. She's logged into Outlook 2003 on TS, presses the delete key while trying to edit an email, and she gets the Windows Security Box from the local computer. The same as if she had pressed Ctrl + Alt + Delete. If she logs off TS and immediately logs back on, the problem goes away for awhile (an hour, a day, whatever..there's no rhyme or reason). She works at multiple workstations on TS and this is the only one giving her this problem. I work on the very same workstation frequently, in TS, and NEVER have the problem. Any help is appreciated.
