TS Printing
by Guest Jez- 1 reply

I have set up a terminal server a while back and GPO locked it down using the MS document as a guideline. Recently a user requested that they would like to connect a client printer and they are not showing up when user logs in. I have checked TS config and that is set to get setings from user manager. the user has connect client printers ticked. I can only think the there is a GPO object restricting this but havent a clue where to look. can you help??

Printer Settings not saving/RDPDR Key Problem
by Guest Wood- 2 replies
When a user tries to configure printer in TS session, settings are not saved for next signon. I already tried solution from KB243942 but does not help. It appears the DkRDPVC and RDPDR keys are not being created under the Local User. Admin User rights make no difference. The client has been upgraded to 6.0.2600.0 already. I do have other clients that connect to the same TS that work. Any ideas would be great. -- Thanks, Wood

Terminal Server Remote Administration licenses
by Guest Pearl- 6 replies

I believe we may have a Remote Desktop Administration licenses on our Windows 2003 server. Terminal Server and Terminal Server license components are not installed (or, they are not checked); however, when two of our Domain Admins (and , Domain Admins have been permissioned in Remote Desktop access) only one can login. When the other tries, they get at the Remote Desktop Connection a message: Remote Desktop Disconnected with additional notes that: 1. remote desktop may not be enabled or 2. the maximum connections have been exceeded or 3. a network error exists. All three don't make sense since 1. remote desktop is ENABLED and 2. only one has logg…

only one connection using RDP
by Guest Pearl- 3 replies

have a Windows 2003 server with Remote Desktop enabled BUT only one user at a time can login. Should be 2 users . I'm trying to discover why. Both users trying to login are Domain Admins and Domain Admins are in the Remote Desktop Group as well as administrator group for the server. I've checked to make sure that the there are not Deny permissions in Local Policies (btw...this is a member server). And there are no firewalls connected between users and the server...and besides, if Admin 1 logs in then Admin2 can not. Likewise, if Admin 2 is first to login, then Admin 1 can not. very odd. Any ideas?

TS local printing woes
by Guest Ed Jones- 1 reply

Hello. We are running Windows 2003 Std Server with Terminal Services. One of our remote clients was set up with an Hp 1505 local printer. After choosing Printers in Local Resources on the rdp client, things worked just as planned for 1 week. Now, without any changes being made that I know of, the user cannot print locally. The print job just sits there. (this particular client is only at this wkstn once a week, so does it have something to do with it being subsequent new sessions now?) Is there a way to force printing locally? Also, we went into AD and configured this user's properties on the Sessions tab to End Session when the connection is broken. Thank…

2008 TS Web
by Guest Richard@dt- 3 replies

Hi I have depoyed a 2008 Server, and have configured TS Web access and TS Gateway. According to the product notes, 2008 should (PAT) https from the front end to 3389 at the back-end. When I look at the packet captures, we authenticate on 443, but use 3389 to the back-end TS Server? I have searched high and low at MS and via Google, and so far nothing? I must be doing something fundamentally wrong? Any help gratefully appreciated

Issues with Endpoint V11 and Terminal services
by Guest Bobby- 2 replies

Hi, I'm using Terminal services on a Windows 2003 server. Last week we installed Symantec Endpoint Version 11 on all of our clients and our servers, including the TS server. Everything went well, and we have had no problems, except that Terminal services no longer works. Are there any known issues with Endpoint v11 and Terminal services? Is there any configuration setting I need to change to allow access to TS users? If not, any other suggestions? Thanks for any help, Colin

add shared printer to local pc
by Guest lenny- 0 replies

Hi, is there an easy way to add a printer that is in the list of printers on the terminal server to the list of printers on any local machine that logs on using remote desktop so when they minimise the desktop session they are still able to print to the shared printer from documents that are stored locally? If there isn't a method to set this automatically then what is an easy way of doing this on an individual PC? Is the best way from just run, \\server

Cached profiles not getting deleted
by Guest LJC- 3 replies
Hello, Has anyone seen this problem? I have Windows 2003 SP2 running on a few servers in terminal services mode with a GPO policy to delete locally cached profiles. The problem I am experiencing is that the user’s profiles are not getting completely deleted. The index.dat file, cookies folder and local settings folder remain on the servers. Now every time when users login they get a new user profile folder with their name appended with a new number (.001 ) What can I do to make sure the profiles get completely deleted? I am already using UPHClean Thanks, Lenny

Installing Software and Permissions
by Guest lozza- 3 replies

Hey Guys, Looking for some pointers by the more experienced. I would like to allow certain users the ability to administer a TS Server and also install software etc etc on my TS Server. Now, the good way to do this, I believe is by grouping all these users into a AD Global Security Group and then adding that security group to the Local Administrators group. Then anytime someone new needs to be added as an administrator, simply add them to that very Global Security group and they'll have TS admin permissions... So here is what I have done: 1) Creating an AD group called TS_Admins - Populated with Users 2) Created an AD group called TS_Users - Populated…

printer default problem with one program
by Guest lenny- 1 reply
Hi, I have just changed the default printer over in an office and installed it onto the terminal services server. I then made it the default printer (right click and make default from printers page) One user who uses Sage has to keep changing the printer via the drop down menu to print to it as her machine (only in Sage) keeps defaulting to the old printer. How can I change this so that it always defaults to the new printer? Cheers

Hi There, I have a user in a remote office that is using a vista laptop to login to terminal server and work remotely. Currently he is using VOIP for his phone system and gets voicemail to his inbox. However he is unable to listen to them from the terminal server, or hear any sound from it for that matter. Is there a way to get around it? I have already checked off the box in remote desktop connection that allows sound to be brought to the remote computer. Thanks,

determining machine name
by Guest Jeremy- 2 replies

If I remote into one of our servers (windows 2003 server) from my workstation (also a 2003 server) and run an application (meditech client) on the server, that application will actually report the machine name as my workstation's name rather than the server's name. I've never seen this before on other applications, and I need this one to correctly use the server's machine name not my workstations. How is this possible?

Is it possible to move TSRV2000 licences to TSRV2003?
by Guest William Stokes- 1 reply

Hello, I have one Win2000 Terminal server with 10 CAL's. Old server will be replaced by newer one with Win2003R2 OS and Terminal Services. Can I move my 10 old CAL's to W2003 Server? Or is the only option to buy more CAL's?? I read from manual that W2K SRV cannot act as a licensing server for Win2003 server. There's also a comment that it's possible, but not permitted to install 2000 lic tokens to 2003... Thanks -W

TS Licensing (Upgrade to 2008)
by Guest Hugh O'Donnell- 2 replies

I have a client running a 2003 R2 box with TS Licensing Server and 10 CALs. They do NOT have SA. If they upgrade this box to 2008, will they need to get new CALs for the TS? If yes, what if they left this box alone, purchased a new machine with 2008, and just referenced the 2003 Licensing Server? Thanks, Hugh O'Donnell

TS EasyPrint to XP SP3 client
by Guest schooltech- 3 replies

I am experimenting the new EasyPrint feature of 2008 and so far am very impressed. However, I am experiencing a problem when printing to XP SP3 clients. XP seems to mess-up all of the character spacing and changes typeface from Times Roman to Ariel. When sending to an XPS document on the client, the XPS file is correctly formatted when viewed and will prints out correctly, when printed directly from the client. I guess this is just a bug in the XP SP3 implementation of EasyPrint, as SP3 is still at RC1. Vista SP1 doesn't have this problem. I would like to know if other people have also experienced this problem with EasyPrint?
