Disconnecting & Forcing Logoff

1. Is there a way to disable a user's ability to disconnect (using the X on the RDP connection) from a session and to force them to logoff without following this procedure below: http://terminal.servebeer.com/php/x_box_disable.php For instance, can the "X" be disabled or if they click it, can their session be "instantly" reconnected. 2. In our particular situation, our Terminal Server users (note, we have 1 generic user account/machine that need identical settings) & they do not need to use their local XP workstation for anything else. Currently, if they have to reboot their workstations, they get the CTRL +ALT+DEL to login to the domain. Once they log…

Many Remote Desktop shortcuts
by Guest Billy- 2 replies

I have many remote desktop shortcuts. Each shortcut is set to take me into a different user on the same computer. Despite my saving these settings, when I go into another remote desktop shortcut I find it has inherited the login information from the shortcut I just got through working with. If I change this shortcut, then the other shortcuts inherit the most shortcuts credentials. Please help.

by Guest David Vilariñó- 1 reply

Hi to all! We have a cluster of SQL and access to it by Remote desktop client to run one ERP application. Locally we have a print server and map the printers our local machines. Then when we run remote desktop client, mark the option local rources- printers- to print to the local printers from the ERP. The problem happens when in the session of the terminal server can see all the local printers except the HP4700DN. This printer never appears mapped and any local computer can print from ERP sited in the server what access via remote desktop client. Could someone assist me in this issue? Thanks in advance, David

Roaming Profiles
by Guest Eric Lanyon- 1 reply

My setup: Windows 2003 Domain Controllers, Windows 2003 Terminal Servers, Windows 2003 File Server, Roaming Profiles, an abundance of GPOs and ScriptLogic. Scenario: My terminal servers (4 of them) would lock up and be unable to write to the file server. Rebooting the file server would appear to clear the issue, the terminal servers would freeze again....then after several hours they would be fine. I then rebooted the file server into Safe Mode, no more problems. But obviously can't run like this. I installed a clean Windows 2003 File Server. I used MS Backup, backed up profiles, data and restored to the new server. I modified GPOs, ran RSOP.MSC …

Bizarre Terminal Services Access Issue
by Guest Vincent- 1 reply

This is puzzling me quite a bit and I cannot readily find an answer....I can initiate a terminal services session from a local LAN computer to the terminal server if I specify the internal IP address of the terminal server. However, if I try to connect to the same terminal server using the external IP address, I receive the following error message: "To log on to this computer, you must be granted the Allow log on through Terminal Services right....." Any ideas? Thanks. Vincent

Is it possible with terminal server 2008 to give each session a unique IP address? I know in the past, people have accomplished this with Citrix. I was hoping it was an added feature in 2008. Thanks.

TS/Citrix Access Problem
by Guest Luiz- 8 replies

Hi, if this question isn´t belong to this Newsgroup, excuse me. I have a Windows 2000 Server SP4, fully updated, configured with Terminal Server to Windows XP clients. As I know, there is no need to configure a TS Licensing Server to my Windows XP clients, so, I don´t have any TS Licensing in my network. I have installed Citrix PS 4 (fully updated) in my TS and a Citrix License Server with to 70 licenses installed. Every day 63 clients access the PS 4. When more than that try to access they receive the following error “ Cannot connect to the Citrix Metaframe Server. The Citrix Metaframe Server is not available, please try again later.” I have app…

Quick Licensing Question
by Guest lozza- 5 replies
Hi Guys, Just a Quick question here. If I have 6 TS Servers (located in 6 different countries) and a Licensing server per country (which i dont think I actually need!) where each TS Server resides.... all in one global AD... and 150 users, that could connect to any of the TS Servers (more than one at a time if they like), does this mean I need 150 TS User CALS each per licensing server (so 900 TS USER CALS in all) ? - I dont know why they have done this... Surey it would make sense to hook all 6 TS Servers to 1 Licensing Server (that is reachable by all TS Servers) and be done with 150 TS USER CALS in total on this one licensing server...All 150 Use…

Locking down local destops question
by Guest compsosinc@gmail.com- 7 replies

In a test environment, we have setup an SBS2000 DC with a Windows 2003 TS and XP Pro clients. We have successfully applied a GPO to the OU that contains the TS for the Testusers and the TS desktop is locked down-- with the exception of a few items we cannot remove using a Windows2000 GP editor. We followed the standard procedure of moving the TS into is own OU, adding the Testusers group to the Security, removing 'Authenticated Users' from Security, adding thte TS machine to the Security. We also enabled "loopback processing" with the 'Replace' option. On the XP Pro clients, the Testusers have no reason to use any local resources as they only use what we give …

Vista Remote Desktop Client Compatibility
by Guest Peter Clark- 1 reply

I have to support several Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server edition servers. I recently upgraded my desktop computer to Vista SP1. When I attempt to connect to the 4.0 servers, I receive the error "Because of a protocol error, this session will be disconnected. Please try connecting to the remote computer again." 1. Is Vista SP1's version of RDP incompatible with Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server? 2. If so, is there a workaround short of downgrading my PC? I have already set the advanced option to not use a TS gateway.

Softgrid sound issues
by Guest mwilliams60- 0 replies

We're trying to run some games for kids to use in our school ts labs. When we use softgrid to run the games the video is very smooth but we cannot get any sound. Right now we are in test mode, the hardware i am using for the server and for the sequencer is identical. When i sequence the game from the console I get sound in the "launch app" step of sequencing. The only other tip i was able to find was to sequence the game through a ts connection when i do this there is no sound in the "launch app" step of sequencing. Any help would be great. Thanks Matt Williams School District 60

Restrict "Apply Windows key combinations" on RDP to "On the localcomputer" We have the need to only allow clients to have the setting in their RDP client under Options, Local Resources, to be set for "On the local computer". Is there a way to set a policy on the server that will override the client's RDP setting in the drop-down box? Thanks in advance.
