Problems with \\Tsclient\c
by Guest Lasse- 2 replies

Hi I am currently trying the GPO "Items displayed in Places Bar" and "Hide these specified drives in My Computer" but i am having some problems. I have hidden all drives from My Computer and that works perfectly. Instead of the drives in My Computer I want to use the Places Bar, I can easily add a share on our server to the bar but not the local computer, I use "\\tsclient\c" but it doesn't work. If I log on to the TS and type in \\Tsclient it actually opens up but it's empty. Does this make any sense? /Lasse

license question
by Guest Rich Raffenetti- 2 replies

We have a large number of Windows 2003 TS Cals which we have configured as user Cals. Basically there is one per employee. Our first TS cluster is authenticated. No problems or issues here. We are putting up a second TS cluster in our domain where the authentication will be anonymous for a captive and single purpose time-reporting application. (The application has its own authentication and cannot utilize Windows authentication.) The persons who use the new TS cluster are exactly the same persons (employees) who use the authenticated TS cluster. I believe there are no license issues even though the licenses would not be handed out to individuals…

Configure TS Automatically for Logged On User
by Guest Thomas M.- 4 replies

XP SP2 We are in the process of converting our users to standard user accounts. We have a number of employees who use terminal services to remotely control their machines. By default, administrators on the local machine have the right to use terminal services, whereas non-administrators must be added to the Remote Desktop Users list. This sets up a situation where people have the ability to use terminal services by virtue of the fact that they are members of the local administrators group. Once they are removed from local administrators group, and if they have not been added to the Remote Desktop Users list, they lose the ability to use terminal services. …

I have a user that logs into the TS from computerA, in his session he gets his local printer as normal, an HP Deskjet xxx. But, if he logs into ANY other computer and starts a TS session to the same server, he still gets as his local printer, the HP Deskjet xxx from ComputerA. Where is that coming from? Is it cached somehow on the Terminal Server? Thanks

I have a W2K server, that the users have been accessing with XP Professional and Vista Business for the past year. We have a new machine (HP) that came with Vista Home Premium on it. The user was accessing the terminal server without any problems until a couple of weeks ago, they updated Vista and whenever they would access the TS, they would get a message that the TS License was going to expire in X number of days. The license has expired and I checked the TS event log and it reads "The Terminal Server cannot issue a client license." The Vista machine displays a message "The remote computer disconnected the session because of an error in the licensin…

Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 - How can you prevent users from automatically installing print drivers. I have enabled the policy on each server 'Devices: Prevent users from installing printer drivers' in the local security policy, but this doesn't seem to have any effect. Users can still connect with a new printer and the driver for it will load?? Any ideas

Disconnected Sessions issue
by Guest Cary W. Shultz- 7 replies

Good morning! I have been a bit puzzled by this so I am finally posting a question. I am posting both here and in the SBS news group....hopefully the proper way! Situation: SBS2003 Standard with a separate member server running Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2. This machine was joined to the domain the "SBS2003 way". There are some 20 users who make use of the Terminal Server. Basic applications installed [Office 2003 and their CRM-client (SysPro)] and all are working fine. Terminal Server is locked down via GPO. Sessions are disconnected after one hour of idle time and disconnected sessions can be reestablished within one hour. Only one session at a…

Single-application mode - Myth or reality?
by Guest dudeDad- 12 replies

I would like to create a GPO that says "TS_User1 will see a desktop icon only for Application X" and "TS_user2" will see a desktop icon for only Application Y" etc. Both users are loggin into the same terminal server. That one server has both applications installed. Is this possible? This MS document refers to "single application mode" (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/186572/ ) but I do not see any other references to it. Thanks Ken I am not talking about Remote App. I want people to access this functionality from RDC 6.0 without having to upgrade to 6.1. Basically I want people to click on a DirectX object on a webpage (using TS We…

Slow "using print screen" to copy to local client
by Guest Anonymous?- 3 replies

Using the print screen from withing a TS session into a local Microsoft office word document is very slow. This can take up to 100 seconds before the image is transferred into the MS Word. The strange thing is that other users dont experience this problem. This might happen if the user is connected on the loca LAN itself. This makes be believe it might be a profile problem, but I,m not sure Anyone experience something similar and advice? MCSE MCSA

RDP not working
by Guest Jeff- 3 replies

Hello, I have a server running Windows Server 2003 STD edition acting as our DC, AV as well as some other services. Every now and then I lose the ability to RDP to this box until I reboot it. What happens is I open RDP, put in the server name to connect to and hit connect. It then thinks for a few seconds and then just goes back to the original screen where you put in the computer you want to connect to. No error message, happens from multiple computers. The only way I can get it to work again is to reboot the server which is very troublesome as its also our File and Print server at which everyones desktops and my docs folders are redirected to. Please …

TS CAL in multi forest environment??
by Guest Thue- 2 replies

Hi I have a very tricky question which I cannot seem to find the correct answer to. Perhaps some of you guys have been in a similar situation. I maintain some different development and test environments for my company, and right now we have 5 different windows test-domains/forests all running their own citrix farm (just one server) in order for my dev. guys to test their stuff in different setups. I have around 25 dev guys with around 100 laptops and virtual machines (mainly connected to the corporate domain), needing access to these citrix servers. The easy way to do this, was to simply just have one Workgroup MS TS license server, and do th…

Sessions "Time Out" but server still thinks active
by Guest Dan H.- 7 replies

Hi, Server 2000 We have WinXP laptops clients. A user will get kicked off so I was thinking it was a timeout issue. I checked to see that RDP manager was set to 1 hour and set to override user accounts. User account is 1 hour and Policy is same (yeah I know the override is checked but figured I provide this information as well). Well I monitored a session and it showed her session as continous for ex. 30 minutes but then in the manager I would see the same person connected so it would show she had 2 sessions going on. Then eventually session one would end because of the time limit. I asked her and she said she was booted as a timeout within minute…

Folder Redirection and Permissions

Hi Guys, Currently have a NAS device with a root share that everybody uses... \\NAS\Share. This is at present configured for everyone full control. Which i believe is the source of my problems... Under this Folder I have created \\NAS\Share\TerminalServices. I have not created a separate share for the TerminalServices folder as it is accessible via \\NAS\Share. This is where I have redirected all my folders to. However it seems all users can access each others Redirected folders. Could you guide me as to what Share and Security permissions are required on the share \\NAS\Share\TerminalServices to ensure these folders are locked down and the system is ab…
