How to stop prompt for Credentials?
by Guest Simon White- 7 replies
I have secure website used by clients to connect to terminal servers. When they click a link a dynamically created RDP file is returned launching their Remote Desktop Connection. However, they are now prompted for a password despite the fact that it was supplied in the RDP file. The terminal servers all use SSL and I have turned off the prompt for credentials item in the RDP file. If they login and save their password then it appears to work fine on subsequent connections however the problem is that they usually do not know the password having not needed it in the past. I would actually prefer not to give it to them so that I can change them on a re…

Connection defaults to Either 256colors or 32M colors
by Guest Kieron Sykes- 1 reply

We have an issue with connections to a TS running Windows 2003 SP2. If we have the Wyse Client set to 16bit, the connection information within TS connection manager always shows as 32M colors for the colour depth. If the client is dropped to 8bit the colour depth drops to 256colours. If we connect to a Windows 2003 Server which is identically configured but only running Service Pack1, the colour depth when connecting at 16bit shows as 64k colours. We are having problems with bandwidth at the moment and the only issue we can see is the colour depth difference. The bandwidth issues only appeared when we upgraded to SP2. Has anyone got any ideas or know of …

I have a single domain running Windows 2003 Small Business Server R2 SP2. Within the domain I have a Windows 2003 R2 SP2 running Terminal Services. I am developing an Access 2007 app which will run on the TS server under AccessRunTime and would like to eMail reports to Users of the application. Exchange Server is running on the DC and I haven't put any MAPI programs on the TS. Must I load Outlook on the TS or can I send formatted mail directly to the Exchange using SMTP? Thanks for you wisdom. .... rick

Installing certificates on terminal servers
by Guest guv- 1 reply
We use windows 2003 terminal servers. We have users who need to access a website but before they do they have to install a certificate which will allow them to access the website. A user installs the certificate on the terminal server and they can access the website. In there internet explorer settings the certificate is installed in the personal tab of certificates. When other users log into the terminal server they cannot access the web site and the certificate is not in there personal tab. Is there anyway we can make this certficate available for all users on the terminal server such as through group policy

Lower Screen Resolution
by Guest MR Peterson- 2 replies

I have a user that got a brand new laptop. I set him up just like any other laptop on the network. In fact his was the third of its kind. When he runs Remote Desktop his MINIMUM screen resolution is 1440x900. It will not go any smaller. The Term Server is 1024x768. Everyone else can adjust to whatever they want but, his will only go to much higher resolutions. The other like laptops don't do this. Help save the poor mans eyes. What do I need to do. -- CMIT

IMsTscAxEvents::OnDisconnected reason code 2825
by Guest Yury Averkiev- 0 replies

I'm not sure if this is a correct group to post. I'm developing an application using RDP ActiveX control, and when I'm trying to establish a connection the connection is getting rejected with 2825 error code (the disconnect notification comes via IMsTscAxEvents::OnDisconnected event). MSDN documentation (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa382170(VS.85).aspx) doesn't have this code in the list of possible error codes. So I'm wondering what this code means? Thanks, Yury

by Guest josh- 3 replies

I received an email this morning from my boss and he has been working on a printer issue for a while now. He sent me what's happening and what he has done: User has a HP Officejet 5610 at home. They connect to a server using RDP session and need to print to their 5610, but the 5610 print driver isn't supported on Windows 2003. We've installed Redirector on the server and pointed the 5600 series to a 990c and a 550c. It looks like it's printing (we see it go from server queue to local queue), but nothing prints. It just disappears from the local queue. Thanks! If anyone in this group has any idea or any experience with a problem like thi…

Locking down Windows 2003 TS with 2000 GPO
by Guest compsosinc@gmail.com- 0 replies

We have a Windows SBS2000 based domain with a 2003 Terminal Server as a member server. We have established a GP on the OU that contains the TS. Since we are using a 2000 based AD & its available GP options, we are having difficulty locking down the following for XP TS clients: 1. We cannot remove the 'My Computer' icon from the Start Menu. Note, this is an option in Windows 2003 GP under User Configuration>Admin Temp>Desktop --but not in Windows 2000 GP editor. 2. 'Internet Explorer' & 'Outlook Express' are appearing on the Start Menu -left side of list. These are usually removed by enabling the 'Remove frequent programs list from the Start Men…

Office 2007 on TS (weird licencing situation)
by Guest Xavier- 4 replies

Hello, I am facing the following situation: in a small company, the management decided that some documents were to be stored on a TS and accessed by a small amount (5) of people. These people do have laptops with Office 2007 Pro (OEM) installed. According to http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/7/7/17745e4a-5d31-4de4-a416-07c646336d94/desktop_application_with_windows_server_terminal_services.doc: "Scenario 4 (...) The customer does not need to acquire any more Microsoft Office licenses as long the portable desktops are licensed for the edition, language, and version of Microsoft Office being accessed. " My interpretation of the situation is that…

Licensing Confusion
by Guest nick- 1 reply

I have a client with 5 servers. One server runs Terminal Services on a Win2K box. The second server runs Terminal Services on a Win2K3 box. I just started working with this client so I have very little information on them. From what I gather all users connect to the Win2K box using TS. The second server one user just remotes to. Since the second server is telling me I need to buy TS licenses I figured I would do something smart....I would just remove TS from there, and let RDfA kick in. Here's the problem.... Since TS uninstalls any programs installed while in TS mode it could possibly uninstall the billing software they use. My question is...how can I tel…

RDP connection issue
by Guest goundhog- 2 replies

I have 10 Citrix 4.5 terminal servers Users all work fine using ICA connections However I want a few users to have RDP access for some functionality not available through ICA When they connect via RDP they get "The remote computer disconnected the session because of an error in the licensing protocol." They have permissions on the rdp-tcp connector, and obviously TS licensing works as that is required for ICA connections - and they connect fine with ICA Nothing in eventvwr. Admins can connect fine Any thoughts ?

Printers missing in Access under TS
by Guest Len B- 4 replies
This applies to just one user in her Terminal Services Session on Server 2003. She has a choice of 3 different Laser printers in her printer list. MS Access 2003. Open existing databases (in Access 2000 file format) and zero printers are available. No databases in 2003 format. Forms and tables are viewable but not reports. I am not sure if this is a TS problem or Access problem? How do I determine which? No other users have the problem. TIA -- Len ______________________________________________________
