-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- -= my response to the harassment. -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- My first reaction in 1990/91 was to assume. that if I broke contact then they would not be able to follow and would lose. interest. So I did the things that have. been suggested by other people; I sold my television, stopped listening to the radio and. tried to withdraw away from the sources of abuse as much as possible. I. reasoned that they must have more important things to. deal with and that normal people would simply leave me alone if it were made difficult. for them to continue their harassment. I reckoned without the sheer vindictiveness of th…

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- -=. who knows about it? =- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Many people know,. both in the establishment and media, and among the general. public. Despite an absence of its target from the UK for more than two years, the echoes of paranoia can. still be heard loud and clear from across the water.. When it started in 1990, the only people who knew were those. in BBC television who were spying on my home, and a few radio broadcasters. There were a few cases of public harassment, but. very little compared. to the situation that developed a couple of years later. The list today includes BBC TV staff (newsreaders. such as Martyn Lewis, Michael…

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-= -= Capital Radio - Chris. Tarrant -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-= Capital Radio DJs have been "in. on it" from the start. One of the first things I heard in the summer of 1990 was from. a Capital DJ who said, "If he listens to Capital then he can't be. all bad" (supportive, you see. We're not bastards). Much of what came over the radio in 1990. is now so far away the. precise details have been obliterated by time. No diary was kept of the details, and although. archives if they exist may give pointers, the ambiguity of what broadcasters. said would leave that open to re-interpretation. In spring 1994,. No Terminal Services License Server was found
by Guest Jim- 1 reply

I have recently installed a new terminal server. The license server was already configured on the domain controller. The TS is configured to run in per user mode. I have installed the 20 user cals on the license server. The new server reports from the Manage your Server screen that "No Terminal Services License Server was found". I have run lsview and never get anything to populate in the table. I setup the log file and set it to update every 2 minutes. I let it run for 40 minutes and nothing ever went to the log. When I run lsreport, it reports that No servers found. I tried confuguring the license server through group policy and that did …

Unable to login to win2K3 via Vista
by Guest bguild2006@gmail.com- 3 replies

I'm not able to connect to our TS (Win2K3 standard r2) via either of 2 new laptops running Vista Ultimate. I briefly get a dark screen and then returned to a blank RDP 6 login. This server has been up for 3 years and has 6 users logging in via XP sp2 (rdp 5) into TS every day. The users are restricted to an Access program via GP. I am receiving no error messages on event viewer from either the client or server side. Is KN 914977 a possible solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bob Guild

2003 Terminal Server no longer accepting RDP connections
by Guest avallach- 1 reply

We have 3 WS 2003 Terminal Servers in our environment, one of which has been sitting idle for years because of an Office error. I took it upon myself to fix that problem today. Office was installed improperly (possibly before the server was made a terminal server) by a predecessor, and could not be removed gracefully. I removed it via the registry then deleted the Office folders, rebooted, reinstalled Office properly, all was well. Then I tried to Remote Desktop to the server (named TERM3), which has always worked. It won't connect. I try to telnet to 3389, I get "Could not open connection to the host, on port 3389: Connect failed." I go to the server's…

Terminal Services licensing and fault tolerance
by Guest RossB- 1 reply

I have four Citrix Presentation server 4 servers, on Windows 2003 TS. They are load ballanced(by a network). I am thinking about fault tolerance from a TS licensing point of view. Currently the Citrix licenses and TS user CALs are on sever 1. Lets say server 1 has a hardware failure. I am okay on Citrix licensing, as the remaining Citrix servers have a 96 hour grace period. What about TS licensing, is there a grace period? Would I be better splitting licensing between two servers? Any suggestions welcomed.

Hi, I have 2 DC and 2 member servers configured as Terminal Service where user can log on to as they will on an XP station (App mode). All runs Windows 2003 SP2 R2 Note that I am using roaming profile and folder redirection using group policies My question is: why some of the user have their profile created as C:\Documents and Settings\username.domainname and other simply created as C:\Documents and Settings\username? No user with the same name have never been created locally and I don't think there is a profile corruption. I know that I can 'convert' or change this by a registry tweak but I am just wondering why Windows act like this. If anyone …

I am setting up a Terminal Server on a Domain, Terminal Server is running on DC, now. The main application they are using uses SQL Server. I installed the software on the Terminal Server by mapping a drive to the Software Folder. After I run the setup on the Terminal Server, the application does not see the SQL Database? Is there something I am missing, or does this have to be resolved by the software manufacturer. Thanks for your help in advance! Candace Sparks

TS slowing down after changing protections in registry
by Guest Mario - Roma- 1 reply

A Windows Server 2003 TS must run legacy applications. To let legacy applications work I was requested to change the protection of some registry keys (mainly in HKCR) to give full control to some users. After applying the changes the TS server is getting really slow, so that to launch an application I need 15 minutes. The system is slow either while working from the console (as local Administrator) or from a RDP session. Using Process Explorer (by Sysinternals) it looks that explorer.exe is the critical component, either launched from the console or laounched by applications browsing the file system to open files. How can I perform further troubleshooting? …

where to give access to terminal server

Hello, I am wondering where I have to grant access to terminal services. I added the user to the group "Remotedesktopbenutzer" which should have the right to log in on terminal servers. But the users are not allowed to do that. Where do I have to grant rights within my domain? Through "Domain Controller Security Policy" or through "Domain Security Policy"? Thanks Davorin

SP2 upgrade killed terminal services...

I have a new client running SBS 2003 on a Dell PE 1800. We updated the server to SP2 this week and now the server will not accept RDP connections. It is not longer listening to port 3389. Can someone help me with this? RDP is critical to the operation. netstat -a does not show anything listening on port 3389. It was working fine prior to the SP2 install. Remote desktop does not work locally either (inside the firewall) and the Windows firewall is disabled.

Having issues with logon/logoff scripts not running Situation: --------- 'Default User' profile -> renamed NTUSER.DAT to NTUSER.MAN Local Policy contains both a logon & logoff script. User logs on, C:\Documents & Settings\<USERNAME> profile folder is created. Contains both NTUSER.DAT and NTUSER.MAN files. Checked in 'User profiles' and new profile is listed as Manadatory. *** Logon and logoff scripts don't run anymore. *** Any reason why? It appears that as soon as I switch a profile from local to mandatory my scripts don't run. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Hi everyone Here's the deal. We have a 2003 with TS. We do not permit local printers to be installed when users connect (redirection). We have configured all the printers we need at the console. Some printers have multiple paper tray (1 for the checks, 1 for the invoices...). For that special printer, we created 2 printers with the same port but with different paper tray settings. Everytime i log locally or with TS with the administrator account, i see the correct paper tray assignement. But when i use a Remote desktop user account, it is back to "Automatically select". I need a way that everyone that connects will use the settings i made with the ad…

In the course of typing this cry for help, I was able to resolve the issue. However I stumbled on the solution accidentally and couldn't find much help online. So, for future generations, in case someone else experiences this same issue, here is the solution. Problem: Server 2003 (x64) w/ multiple IP addresses on one NIC: 192.168.1.2 192.168.1.117 .... 192.168.1.125 Remote Desktop, although configured correctly, did not respond to connection attemps at 192.168.1.117. The gateway router was directing the traffic for RDP to that IP address. The 192.168.1.2 address was leftover from an old configuration which I had forgotten about. What was happening i…
