I have a WIn2003 terminal server that runs as a member Srv in application mode. It has no licenses, it's been up for 45 days. The server is in its own OU. I have the checkmark in the Remote Desktop box. I've added myself and the domain admins group to the local Remote Desktop Users group. I've also added the groups to the domain servers RDU group. When ever I attempt to logi in , I receive this message "To log on to this remote computer, you must have Terminal Server User access permissions on this computer. By default, members of the Remote Desktop Users group have these permissions. If you are not a member of the Remote Desktop Users group or …

slowdown for some but not all
by Guest AndreZ- 3 replies

Hey all, Just wondering where you guys would suggest I start looking for issues in (I assume) a user profile .. for example.. If I open an adobe (small file) document with one user it opens in about 15 seconds (still kinds slow but not the main issue) when I open the same file from another user it opens in about 25 - 45 seconds .. the server load is around the same .. I just don't know why it would be different for 2 users in the same office on the same server. I've cleared all the temp files and there is no change. Thanks in advance..

User licensing
by Guest Markus- 9 replies

I am planning to install Server 2003 and need some advice on licensing. My client needs a maximum of 10 concurrent users using an application. However, they have hundreds of employees, any one of which could be one of the 10 concurrent users. On the server side, I understand Server 2003 comes with 5 CALs, so I assume I will need 5 additional CALs. But am not sure what other licenses I need. I read about roaming users, and would assume I need per user licensing for 10 roaming users, since the 10 users on any one day could log in from different departments and so different devices. Could someone clarify just what licensing I would need for this conf…

Subject: Explorer Folder Views change from list to default icons if the user logs on to a terminalserver different from that where the profile was created. Environment: Win2K3 + SP1 R2 Server with Citrix Presentation Manager 4.0, Windows Fundamental for Legacy PC's with Citrix ICAW32 Client V9.15. Our users use terminal roaming profiles. It is possible to use different view mode settings in Windows Explorer - icons, tiles, details, etc. But after logoff Explorer forgets that mode, and after logging back to a terminal server restores the default view mode (icons). Sometimes the settings are retained if a user logs back to the same terminal server immedia…

Allow users to save their display settings

Users on a TS can change their display settings in Windows Explorer to go to View -> and choose for instance Details (default = view -> titles). But on the next logon the settings are back to default. Which GPO setting allows or disables this behavior? By the way: admins are not affected by this behavior. Their settings are saved on exit.

licensing issue with Windows server 2003
by Guest Digitarii@gmail.com- 2 replies
I have an issue with one particular client where the entire network is locking up and they have to reboot all of the devices in the network to recover functionality. I have eliminated most of the network devices (routers, switches, etc.) as the culprits, but I'm thinking that the issue may lie in the User CALs. They just expanded operations and added additional people to their facility, and I'm wondering if a lack of CALs would cause the issue that is happening. Any thoughts?

Dose some one know if the display driver used in terminal service is based on the mirror (video) driver? Also can some one tell if it is possible to mirror the TS session using mirror driver? I used DDK sample to try that but it didnt work as it is, may be it requires some modification(may be just configurational)... If not, is there any other way to achieve that? Thanks in advance... Hi, I use 2 monitors and TS. I want to use 2 sessions simultaneously and therefore want the first session in my left monitor and the 2nd session in my right monitor. RDP however always starts in my left (primary) screen. Is there a way Windows (vista) remembers the positions of the RDP sessions? Now I have to dray a screen to the right position all the time. Thanks in advance, Mark
