TS RAP - AD group & FQDN
by Guest Andrew Meinert- 4 replies

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731435.aspx That indicates that with an AD security group, both FQDN and NetBios names will pass the connection policy. I have a bunch of desktops in a security grup and have selected it within TS Gateway. This is the only enabled policy. If I connect to a computer using the netbios name, fine. If it merely append the domain name, I am rejected by the RAP. If I switch to all network resources in the RAP, I can connect using both. Has anyone else encountred the same thing?

RDP from LAN but not from external addresses
by Guest Roger Vicker- 8 replies

We had set up a W2K8 server (the only server in the organization) with User CALs and everything was working fine inside and outside. Just as we were rolling it out to the remote and roaming users it stopped working. Users on the local, to the server, network can still fully use RDP. Outside users get to the server's full screen logon but no matter what user/password they use they get a "The user name or password is invalid." error. Same user/password works via the local network. The event log was showing a 1004 id but a hot fix stopped that as MS indicated it was a false event that led to useless investigation. This started right in the middle of …

Hi.. There is a problem in only one of our servers.. The thing is that everything was working fine.. I had some users in the terminal server users group and they were connecting to this server.. But today, I don't know what happened, everytime I try to connect to this server, I get an error: To log on to this remote computer, you must have Terminal Server User Access permissions on this computer. By default members of the Remote Desktop Users group have these permissions. If you are not a member of the Remote Desktop Users group or another group another group that has these permissions, you must be granted these permissions manually. Also I went t…

by Guest Alicia Wallace- 6 replies

Hi, We have a site with a Windows 2003 R2 (SP2) terminal server, and a Windows 2003 SBS (SP2) server running Exchange. There are 15 users on the terminal server, some of them working off PCs, some off laptops. There are three laptop users who have been having regular problems with their session. At a random point (for no apparent reaon - there are no regular errors appearing in the event logs on either server or the laptops) all the bold text in the session disappears. This includes the titles off the open windows, all the bold text within Outlook (titles of new e-mails, any folder titles which have unread e-mails, etc), the start button (the start bu…

Environment: single W2K8 server domain (no other server of any size, function or flavor) and users on XP over a WAN. The users can connect, work and see their local printers redirected in RDP. However whenever they print nothing ever arrives at their local printer. The server's event log shows an 6161 event. The document Test Page, owned by it, failed to print on printer USERSPRT (redirected 3). Try to print the document again, or restart the print spooler. Data type: RAW. Size of the spool file in bytes: 135341. Number of bytes printed: 0. Total number of pages in the document: 1. Number of pages printed: 0. Client computer: \\RDPSERVER01. Win32 err…

Office 2007 licensing problems with terminal server
by Guest kalarasho- 6 replies

I have been trying to install office 2007 on a win2k3 server for quite a while with no luck. With the MSDN I’m getting the Office Ultimate edition, and after installing when trying to use anything out of it I’m getting the weird message of “this copy of Microsoft office word cannot be used on terminal server”. Microsoft support site says that i need to uninstalled and then re-install with a volume license key. So I uninstalled and obtained a volume license key from the MSDN, but now the installation programs tells me that the key is wrong, and refuses to install. How can I get over these licensing issues??

Reconnect to an existing session
by Guest dav- 10 replies

Hi all, I would like to set up Window Server 2003 to basically act like Windows XP. When I connect to the server via remote desktop it creates a new session on the server, now if I go to a different machine and connect again instead of disconnecting the other remote user and logging into that session it creates an entirely new session. I would rather it handle remote connections the same way XP does. Please help! Dav

CAN'T Connect to Terminal Server from local Network, CAN Connect via VPN Externally, What have I done? Hi, I can only connect to my Windows 2003 Terminal Server with an Administative User when connecting from the local network, I am pretty sure users could connect before as some apps are ONLY installed on the TS so they connect to them internally from there occasionally. I have checked externally by logging in from my home machine over VPN with a standard user and it works fine. I have recently done some re-configuration of Group Policy and I have to wonder if this is what is stopping users loggin on locally. This isn't a huge problem as we usuall…

by Guest Dale Miller- 9 replies

I have a Windows 2003 Server running Terminal Services. I want to add another user to be able to log onto the Terminal Server. Whenever she tries, she gets "To logon to this remote computer, you must be granted the Allow Logon Through Terminal Services right." error message. I go into GPEdit.msc, and find the "Allow Logon Through Terminal Services" property, and see the one user who currently has this right ... but the "Add" button is greyed out. I also go into Active Directory, and into the new user's properties. The "deny logon through terminal services" check box is NOT checked. Why can I not change the Group Policy? Any suggestions? Thanks. D…
