I have clients that have been issued TS licenses that I don't want them to have. Some of these clients are currently off line at remote locations. How can I remove their license info from the issuing license server? I basically want to take away the license the clients were issued. Michael

Certificates Using IE on 2003 terminal server
by Guest eddie- 2 replies
I have users with valid certificates trying to access web sites using ie6 that do not work when logging on to a windows 2003 terminal server. The server recognises that they have a certificate - and a pop up box shows them their certificate, they click ok - they get an access denied from the server. If they log onto a xp box using the the same profile & home directory they get straight to the web pape. I have uninstalled the enhanced security option of IE for for both admins but still get no further. There are no references in the event logs. Any help would be appreciated. Ed

Autorecover files deleted after bsod TS Server
by Guest ErikH- 0 replies

Situation: 7 TS servers with Office 2003. 2 dc's. Users have a home dir and roaming profiles. Via GPO Autorecover files redirected to the homedir of the user. Problem: if a user works with Word, every 1 minute date will be safed on the home dir in a asd file. If the session is disconnected, files still on the home dir. But if the server unexpectly shutsdown the files are deleted. Why is that? What to do to keep the files intact?

Video Performance
by Guest charlie@charkol.com.au- 2 replies

I have a client who is using a dual core dual xeon as their terminal server with about 20 concurrent interactive sessions at any one time over 1000MB LAN. They recently asked me if video performance can be improved. My question is this; Does the video card do any of the processing for the sessions? The server only has the onboard video from the INTEL SE7530BD2 at the moment, but has a free pci express 16x slot. Thanks in advance, Charlie

Using WPF under Terminal Services
by Guest joe- 0 replies
I'm looking for some advice on the use of WPF in a TSE environment. A new project in my company wants to use WPF, but one of the supported platforms is likely to be TSE. The application is quite graphics intensive. Here's the situation as I understand it: Under Terminal Services, certainly under Windows 2003 Server, this rendering will take place on the server side. I'm concerned that this might mean that in this environment WPF applications could have performance problems. Windows 2008 Server (Longhorn) was supposed to have 'WPF remoting' capability, which would mean essentially that XAML (or lower level instructions) would be pushed down the wire and…

Multi-Session Printers?
by Guest MBN- 4 replies
Hi Everyone, I am having a problem with my Win 2K3 terminal servers. Some of my customers (I havent asked them all yet) are reporting that they are seeing printers that belong to the same login eg companyXYZ but are from different sessions eg. (23,36). I thought that you were only allowed to see the printers that are from your own session? I have checked that the account is not part of anything other then the 'Domain Users', and I have also checked that they are not in any of the local groups such as "Print Operators" / "Power Users" / "Administrators" etc. I have never noticed this happening before and I dont know that it is normal. They think …

I had to reboot my terminal server today and the Windows Firewall service failed to start, which is keeping all of my remote users from logging in since it is also the internet connection sharing service. I have reset winsock and still nothing. I have disabled RRAC as well and still no action. Can anyone help. I am running Windows Server 2003 with SP2 on this server. Thank you.

What right allows admins to see all printers
by Guest PGM- 2 replies
We have applications loaded on our terminal servers that require users to be member of the local admins group. The problem we have is that each of those users can see and access printers of other users on the system. I need to be able to prevent this from happening, is it possible? I'm assuming there is a policy or maybe a registry key that controls this. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Only Administrators can log in?
by Guest Dearg O''Bartuin- 1 reply

Hello all, I have an unusual case. I recently took over the support of A TS environment for a client. On this network only those in the administrators group can log in using TS. I have checked all group policies and in turn disabled all apart from the default domain policy and made sure log on using Terminal Server was enabled with the remote desktop users group. Is there a way of completely disabling all group policies and starting again without deleting these policies allowing me to return back if any problems arise? My ideal situation would be to have two groups 1. Administrators 2. Users I would like administrators & all users to be a…

Terminal Services Application Environment Users have slow logout
by Guest phish-43- 1 reply
I have a 2003 R2 Terminal Server with some users configured for a startup environment (auto-launch of an application) when they log in. These users are experiencing excessive times completing the logout process (more than a minute) when they close the application launched in the environment. I suspect that the issue is related to the environment configuration. This issue affects multiple startup environment applications (not just a single app) but is not evident for users not configured for a startup environment. Any ideas what might cause such a behavior?

by Guest Jeff- 1 reply

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew of any good articles that explain how to lock down terminal services? I'm setting up a user so that they can remote in to our server but I only want them to be able to access a few locally installed programs. Other than that, I don't want them to be able to access anything else like Administrative Tools etc. Thanks in advance!

No Printer showing up for a TS user on new WS
by Guest David Langschied- 3 replies
I replaced a workstation on my network and the user does not see ANY printers when she logs in. All users launch RDP to connect via TS to our financial software. I know that TS is picky about print drivers so I try to stick with HP LaserJets that are compliant. This user has made this connection for some time and has always seen her two printers: an OKI Data MicroLine and an HP LaserJet 2020P. For some reason, no printers are showing up at all! Any suggestions! P.S. I just had the user login to a different machine and the printers showed up. Thanks!

Hello, after we have changed the NIC settings from bridging to teaming, we have lost the ability for rdp. The error message is: This computer can't connect to the remote computer. Try connecting again. If the problem continous.... We have already verified the Port settings (3389) in the registry. Also we have deleted and recreated the RDP-Tcp object. OS is Windows Server 2003 SP2. Any ideas on that? Thankyou in advance. Stephan

Odd TS Profile Path Issue

Hi I have an odd problem that I cant seem to get my head around! Test Environment, 2 W2K3 Servers, ONE dc and one TS All working in terms of TS ASIDE from TS Profile Path via GPO I have my TS in its OWN GPO, I have used the inherent Terminal Servers Group and added the machine account to this group. I have created the GPO linked it, and enforced it even, and I have given the Terminal Servers Group Read and APPLY. Yet it will not apply the computer configuration aspect of the GPO. AmI missing something? RSOP also doesnt show the TS aspect of the CC GPO......I must have missed something obvious surely?! Emma

Per User Licensing Mode
by Guest Brett Chapman- 1 reply

I installed some per user Terminal Server CALS on our server. Activation, etc. went fine. When I go to the Terminal Services Configuration (tscc) and select "Per User" Licensesing Mode, the dialog states "The allocation of licenses to users is not currently managed.". Why do I see this? "Per Device" does not have this extra sentence.
