Hi all, I had a hard drive failure on a windows 2003 Terminal Server w/SP2.. I used the ASR recovery process once the hard drive was replaced to recover. All the files were restored but now the Terminal will not accept Remote connections. Any ideas:? I get the error that the terminal server is not responding and that it is too busy and to try back later. All files and services appear to be functioning normal. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks TR

Hi all, I was just wondering, what is the point of activating your TS...It seems you do'nt have any licencing issues at all if you don't activate it....so are you missing on any features? or is it legal with microsoft to run a TS and not have it activated? At the moment I'm testing this theory and have found no downfalls... Anyone with the same experience? or anyones knownledge on the matter would be greatly appreciated... Thanks, Nos

I have set up the License Server Security Group setting on my Terminal Server Licensing Server which is running Windows 2003. The majority of the time it works fine, however, if there is a power outage, I get the following error message in the System Log: --------------------------------------- Event Type: Error Event Source: TermServLicensing Event Category: None Event ID: 45 Date: 8/10/2007 Time: 11:57:56 AM User: N/A Computer: Description: A license could not be issued to XX.XX.XX.XX because it is not a member of the Terminal Server Computers group. Domain Controllers no longer acceptioning RDP sessions
by Guest jaredhattaway- 2 replies

Since last weeks set of patches none of the Domain Admins have been able to log onto any of the 15 domain controllers using RDP. The error message when trying to logon: "To log on to this remote computer, you must be granted the Allow log on through Terminal Services right. By default, members of the Remote Desktop Users group have this right. If you are not a member of the Remote Desktop Users group or another group that has this right, or if the Remote Desktop User group does not have this right, you must be granted this right manually" Remote Desktop is enabled. I have disabled and re-enabled the service as well as manually added the Domain Ad…

Print Screen?
by Guest Hank Arnold (MVP)- 3 replies
I've been asked recently to look into a program (like SnagIt) that would allow users on our Citrix/TS servers to print the screen easily. Today, they have to press the "PrtScn" key, open a WordPad Document, change it to Landscape and print the document. I'd like to see the ability to send it to a printer or save it as a JPEG file. Being a non-profit Hospice, there aren't a lot of funds and it's hard to justify spending $$ when we can't get more basic/needed software and hardware. Any thoughts on free or inexpensive (read CHEAP) software that is TS compatible? TIA. -- Regards, Hank Arnold Microsoft MVP Windows Server - Directory Services

Re: Runtime: How to work around no digital signature In XP the Warning "publisher could not be verified" has Check box for "Always ask before" but not on 2003 Does anyone know how to work around the Security Warning on 2003 Server? In XP, there is a checkbox which is not available on 2003. Is there a way to make this checkbox visible? Terminal Server user logins: disconnected session
by Guest Pearl- 4 replies
We are planning a Terminal Server where there are a few buildings that will use only a single generic account to login to it. My question is: how can I secure the Terminal Server login so that someone doesn't inadvertently step on the active session since each generic account will have 3 users to it. Is there a way to lock the account while it is use so that someone else can't inadvertently attempt a login with that account and knock of the current user?

UserOverride in Windows Server 2003

Hi guys, We're in the middle of an upgrade from a Windows 2000 / Citrix XP upgrade to Windows 2003 / Citrix PS 4.5. Currently we're using the UserOverride key (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM \CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\ICA-tcp \UserOverride) on our Windows Server 2000 boxes, but this seems to be ignored on the Windows Server 2003 Servers. Is this a known issue? Is there a way to get this working? Thanks in advance.

Terminal on SBS 2k3
by Guest Cali Tech- 5 replies

I was wanting to add TS to my SBS domain but I was not able to. I read up on it and I found that SBS doesn't support TS. So I will have to add a 2k3 standard server in the domain. I will use the connectcomputer to add it to the domain. Where do I add the licensing. I have already loaded it in the SBS becasuse that is what I was trying to get to work. Can I leave them there? Do I need to remove the TS services that I installed on the SBS?

Out of TS License or so
by Guest Mr_Huang- 3 replies

Dear guru, Recently, my TS/Citrix users (more than one) encountered login problem, it gave an pop-up dialog saying "To log on to this remote computer, you must have Terminal Server User Access Permission on this computer. By default, members of ...". It looks like a Windows TS error than Citrix and all those client PCs are Windows XP which have been connected to our TS/Citrix farm (Win2k3) successfully before. This errors are total random, I could see there's an active session from the Citrix Console from that user. Total of 200 TS per user CAL in three TS different licensing servers LS currently, where LS_1 = 85 license, LS_2 = 115, LS_3 = 0. The average nu…

We are planning our purchases for next year. We are planning to set up 3 W2003 servers. 2 Citrix PS 4.5 servers (new farm to replace the current PS4/W2K farm). The 3rd is a "Utility" server (no TS). I know we will need 3 server licenses as well as 125 "Per Device" TSCALs. My question is how many CALs will I need? 125 or 3x125? -- Regards, Hank Arnold Microsoft MVP Windows Server - Directory Services

Server 2003 R2 64 bit / Exchange 2007 - can I add Terminal Services w/Outlook as well? Hi all, I have a situation where a client has to have a temporary office for 4 people for ~6 months. They need to be up in a hurry. For legal reasons office will need to be completely separate from the existing infrastructure - separate Active Directory domain, separate Internet domain name, separate email, etc. I have a server and licenses that I can reallocate to them - plenty of horsepower (a Dell PowerEdge 2900 with 2 quad core Xeon processors, 16 GB RAM, hardware RAID, 4 disks). Question: I realize that it's not ideal but would it be possible to run Termin…

Win2008 TS RemoteAPP
by Guest Miha- 2 replies

Hi We're testing Win2008 terminal services TS Web Access feature. Must say that is working great, just like Citrix. But I have a question regarding our internal application that needs to have network drives mapped to work correctly. So if I 'publish' this application through TS Web Access and a user clicks on it to run, it needs to map some network driver like n:\server_name\share1 etc first and then run application. How can this be done? Also can this be achieved when we connect through TS Gateway (also with TS Web Access feature)? Regards,Miha
