Terminal Services added for more application bandwidth
by Guest Masitpro_mcse- 1 reply

Have a VPN server that works fine but on an application that is VB FoxPro oriented it works slower then usual maybe because it requires more bandwidth to run. Is it possible to install Terminal Services on the server with this program installed to help increase speed and bandwidth? If so how do I implement it to link to the VPN server and is it available to install as a windows server component? Is there a service bulletin available to help me with this situation? -- Mark Anthony MCSE 2003

Hi all, I have a 2003 server running terminal services in application mode. This server has two NICs and two internet connections via adsl. I can only connect to the server remotely on the connection using the default gateway. nw1 - server ip 192.168.0.11 adsl router at 192.168.0.1 (wan is 203.x.x.x) nw2 - server ip 10.1.1.11 adsl router at 10.1.1.1 (wan is 204.x.x.x) if the default gateway on the server is set to 192.168.0.1 then remote desktop will connect to the server via 203.x.x.x but will not connect to the server via 204.x.x.x The reverse is also true, setting the default gateway on the server to 10.1.1.1 will only allow connections form …

We originally purchased a retail purchase of 5 terminal service licenses. Last month we purchased another 5 Open terminal service licenses. The licenses are all per device. We can only connect a total of 5 users though and then we get an error or there not being enough licenses. Under the terminal license server I show Terminal Server Per Device Cal Token Retail purchase, 5 used, 0 available as well as Terminal service per device CAL token Open 5 total 3 available. I'm not a Microsoft savvy person...but it says 3 available, we am I only able to connect 5 devices? THanks,

How to register a virtual driver dll with connection created with RDP mmc in Windows 2003 Hello everybody, I have a free small utility program TSRemoteExec on my website at http://www.mqtechnologies.com This program allows to execute a command line on the client (local) machine from a session under Terminal Server. It uses virtual channel to send the the command to the client, on the client machine there is a virtual driver, that is a dll and it has to be registered with MS RDP connection, as documented here: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/Aa383583.aspx However, there is one person who asks me how to regster this dll with connection created…

RDP between sites.
by Guest Fred- 4 replies

Hi, i'm looking to put a solution together which will provide a RDP connector at a remote site, so the staff there can use a database. I'm trying to calculate the amount of bandwidth i'm going to need, and in the process trying to understand exactly how RDP works. Am i correct in saying that RDP uses an asymentrical type connection, in that the remote site will be downloading more bits than uploading. Surely only the keystrokes are uploaded by the remote site to the T/S server, and then the download of the "screen" after the keystrokes have taken affect will require a quick upload. Is this correct?

We are running a TS enviorment on a SBS. I have users that would setup hotkeys and shortcuts with some proprietary programs on their pc's. I would like to give them this functionality back but I run into some issues. Im assuming the app needs to be server based but how can I keep track of what users are saving onto their clipboards Is it possible for me to pass commands to my TS from a terminal via RDP?? Thanks Much Antony Nolan

User Profiles and Folder Redirection
by Guest Zack- 1 reply

I'm trying to setup Terminal Services on a windows 2003 server. most users have roaming user profiles and have their home folder set to a network share, but do not have folder redirection setup. We are trying to move away from roaming user profiles eventually and so I'm wondering if folder redirection is the way to go? I don't care about people's roaming profiles they can setup a new local profile on new computers they go to and I've set the group policy to set the TS profile so that will over-ride thier roaming user profile when they log-on using terminal services. Here's the thing I haven't read anything about using folder redirection without roa…

TS2k3 Explorer Issue
by Guest Betelgeuse- 6 replies
Hi, I have one 2k3 TS that is doing something strange. If any user connects to it, with drive redirection turned on, instead of seeing Z:\user's comuter name\C they see z:\Some other user's computer name\C If you click on the z drive, you do get your local drive, so it is just that the name in explorer is incorrect. And it is the SAME "some other user's computer name" for everyone. Any ideas where to look for this one? Thanks,

Printer redirection for an Epson RX500 under Windows 2000 TS
by Guest Chris Swinney- 6 replies
Hi all, I'm trying to figure out how to add support on a Windows 2000 TS server for a remote PC with an Epson RX500 printer attached. I have tried using the Printer redirection Wizard to redirect the Printer to either generic Windows drivers such as the "Epson Stylus Photo ESC/P 2" or "Epson RX-80", but both seem to terminate the VPN session and send junk to the printer. The downloaded Epson RX500 printer driver from Epson can be extracted but the driver does not appear in the Printer Redirect Wizard, or I receive an error like "specified print monitor is unknown". I believe this is a monolithic driver, as the UNIDRV.DLL or PSCRIPT5.DLL do not appea…

Remote Desktop

I have a server here that we want to enforce only ONE active desktop at a time. Right now there are people remote desktoping into the system and leaving desktops open. This is causing our system to crash (server acts as a controller for a distributed system). Is there a way to setup remote desktop to enforce ONLY ONE desktop at a time. And force the desktop to be closed upon exit? Thanks.

TS/RDP for virtual KM solution
by Guest Brandon Ibach- 2 replies

I, along with other members of my team, have come to rely on Remote Desktop in XP Pro both for getting work done while away from the office as well as simplifying demos and other presentations within our building. Since this feature is built in and doesn't require a separate install (frowned upon by our IT administrators), we'd also like to make use of it as a sort of virtual keyboard/mouse switch when using two computers side by side, ideally shifting focus by simply moving the mouse cursor off of the side of one screen and having it appear on the other, shifting keyboard focus as well. I've used similar solutions in the past, such as win2vnc, based on …

Sessions

when a user logs off a my terminal server the session goes into a "down" state which cannot be reset due to this error "Session reset failed (Error 7024 - the requested operation cannot be completed because the terminal connection is currently busy processing a connect, disconnect, reset, or delete operation.)" The Csrss.exe process is running in each of these sessions but cannot be stoped as it is a critical system process, dont know if this has anything to do with it? As my users are constantly loging on and off thoughout the day the terminal server soon fills up with these downed sessions and eventully the server stops allowing new connections. …
