27" Cinema Display (A1316, not TB) with RX 580?
by Guest eicca- 0 replies
A friend of mine has an Apple 27" Cinema Display kicking around unused. I'm going to go check it out, and if it's the A1316 model, not the Thunderbolt model, I might buy it off him. However, I've read there are some difficulties getting these things to work. A1407 is out of the question as it requires Thunderbolt. But the A1316 uses Mini DisplayPort. Can that be adapted to either the standard DisplayPort or HDMI plugs on my RX 580? Google is remarkably useless at pointing me to answers as... Read more Source: MacRumors

Does anyone know why Windows 10 through bootcamp only shows 4K as the maximum resolution for an LG 5K screen? I expected it to be the same as under MacOS as it’s using proper Thunderbolt 3. Source: MacRumors

I know it's a long shot, but curious if anyone is using a cpu renderer on the 28 core and how it performs? Should the 28 core scale linearly in terms of render times? Currently using the 16 core and was thinking of upgrading the cpu. Source: MacRumors

2x GTX Nvidia 1080 in a 5,1 MacPro without extra PSU possible ?

Hi dear MacRumorians, having a 5,1 Mac Pro with 12x 3,46 GHz and currently using an unflashed GTX 980 in it, I was wondering if my machine can handle 2 GTX 1080's... - without an extra PSU. I ask, because "Bear Feats" did a benchmark with the new Pascal driver on Sierra 10.12.4 and on their benchmark list, they use 2 1080's in a single Mac Pro. They said there: "In case you haven't noticed, we added the results for a pair of GeForce GTX 1080s. We could not resist seeing how much... Read more Source: MacRumors

2x iPhone 6 handsets with dead front cameras and earpieces
by Guest TheShortTimer- 0 replies
Hi there, I've got a couple of iPhone 6 units and they both suffer from the same problem: their front cameras and earpiece speakers are inoperative. Would I be correct in concluding that purchasing this item will correct the issue because the flex cables will be replaced? If that's the case, I'll go ahead and order a pair of cables because they're fairly inexpensive. :) Continue reading...

3 Important Improvements in iOS 9 That Are Less Than Obvious
by Guest Paul Horowitz- 0 replies
Much of what’s great about the iOS 9 update (ok, now technically iOS 9.0.1) is not blazingly obvious to the average iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch user. That’s intentional, as Apple put a lot of emphasis on under-the-hood improvements this time around, and iOS 9 offers some great enhancements that, unless pointed out, are fairly ... 3 monitors and CPU temps
by Guest F1Mac- 0 replies
So I wanted to make a little experiment... I have a 32 inch 4K monitor as my main display. When it's the only one I use (at the actual 4K resolution so no scaling involved) the idle temperature fluctuates between 50ºC and 55ºC, sometimes even going below 50... When the screen saver kicks in, waking up barely goes up to 60ºC and progressively goes back to the normal idle temperature. Now when I have all 3 monitors plugged in, 2 of them are 24inch at 1920x1080, and I put the 32 inch at... Read more Source: MacRumors
