5,1 won't boot with Mojave; works fine in High Sierra
by Guest bwinter88- 0 replies

I have a very odd problem with a 5,1 machine I've updated to High Sierra, where everything works fine. I successfully updated firmware to 144.0.0.0.0 in anticpation of upgrading to Mojave. But with Mojave installed, the computer gets about halfway through startup and reboots. I get the "Your computer restarted because of a problem, press any key to continue or wait" warning on a grey screen, after which the same thing happens. A few times, after flashing NVRAM I was able to boot to... Read more Source: MacRumors

5.1 Mac Pro memory bandwidth....?
by Guest MarkC426- 0 replies

Trying to weigh up my 'next Mac' options. Reading the extract below from the Mini/Studio comparison, what is the memory bandwidth of the 5.1 cMP...? The Mac mini's memory bandwidth maxes out at 200GB/s memory bandwidth. The Mac Studio, on the other hand, offers up to 400GB/s or 800GB/s memory bandwidth. I am wondering how it compares to these much newer AS machines. Source: MacRumors

Hey all, I recently got ahold of an hd 5770 to upgrade the crappy 2600 xt in my system. I just want to know if it'll work. I can go without a bootscreen, I don't have a problem with that. My problem is will it work without having to do anything? Will it be plug and play? Source: MacRumors

6 Abstract Wallpapers from the Apple “Why There’s iPhone” Microsite
by Guest Paul Horowitz- 0 replies

Apple recently built this microsite to accompany the “If it’s not an iPhone, it’s not an iPhone” TV ad campaign, and much like other portions of the Apple online presence, there is some pretty nice abstract imagery included in the backgrounds. With a little digging, this means you can uncover those nice pictures and use ...
