iPhone 14 Pro 17.0.2 I have a shortcut called Send Me an Email that I found somewhere. Whenever you were on any web page this shortcut would send you an email of the URL. It worked fine for years. Now it fails in Safari with the following error: The Privacy Tab for this shortcut seems to allow... Read more Continue reading...

"Silver Arrow" Radeon HD 3870 for Mac Pro
by Guest barefeats- 0 replies
OWC is listing a Radeon HD 3870 with a monster heatsink/fan assembly that's being billed as "Apple OEM": http://eshop.macsales.com/item/ATI Technologies/630ATI3870/ It's clocked just like the Retail "Mac and PC Edition" (i've confirmed this). The price is nice at $189.99 and the fan is reportedly whisper quiet. Caveats: 1. It only works in 'late 2008' Mac Pros. 2. There is no CrossFire connector. I'm dubbing it the "Silver Arrow" as an homage to the 1939 Auto Union Type... Read more Source: MacRumors

"trust this computer" flashing
by Guest pranaman- 0 replies

I connected my updated iPhone 6S to my older MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2014), running Catalina, ver 10.15.7. The phone showed "trust this computer", and it keeps flashing. On my MBA, it said it had to download something. I think it did. It went away. The phone keeps flashing the message. I rebooted both, and tried different cables. Same thing. Anyone heard of this? "Using permissions" - what have I done
by Guest /u/_ancient-baby_- 0 replies

In trying to fix why my Promise Pegasus raid drive doesn't allow some softwares to import from it (like my editing software Resolve, which made it impossible to work with footage on there) I got this pop up window and it's been multiple hours with nothing happening. It says "Using permissions on 'Promise Pegasus'". I'm afraid to like turn it all of or something since this raid contains everything I hold dear pretty much. What is it doing? Is it normal that it goes on for hours or did it f*ck up somehow? submitted by /u/_ancient-baby_ [link] [comments]

"Windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation" Error on cMP 5,1 with OCLP 0.6.1
by Guest rm5- 0 replies
Well, another day, another issue... this time with trying to install Windows on my Mac Pro 5,1. I have tried a USB drive AND a DVD, which both have different issues: The USB drive throws the error above: "Windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation." This happens after everything has finished—the progress bar is nearly all the way done, and the only "checked item" missing is "Finishing Up" in the Windows setup. The DVD doesn't work since... Woke up this morning and just got this message via my MacBook Air. Needless to say I freaked, so I went into my iPhone and checked, and there were no unknown devices listed. I went ahead and changed my the password for my Mac ID (via the phone security setting itself). I did have 2FA enabled in the settings on my iPhone. I checked my iCloud accounts, and there are no unknown devices listed. Was my account hacked? As before, how can I tell if someone has gotten into my Apple accounts, or was... “Ask App Not To Track”
by Guest /u/ErikCoolness- 0 replies

Okay I’m just gonna flat out say it… This option whenever a new app asks me to track my data and activity across other companies’ apps and websites has always irked me. Why would I “ASK” an app to not track me? Isn’t it obvious I don’t want the damn corporation or whatever that made the app to track or make a profile about me? Why not just say or simply “Don’t Allow” or something like that? I’m not gonna sit here and be like “Hey, can you not track me?” I’m gonna say, “hell no!” submitted by /u/ErikCoolness [link] [comments]

“No printer selected” + iOS 18 / iPadOS 18 + Brother L2370DW
by Guest /u/GoldenRuleAlways- 0 replies
I have a Brother Laser L2370DW set up as a wireless AirPrint printer. Some of my Apple clients (Mac, iPad mini) were able to print after updating to 18. Other identical devices (same models, iOS levels) were unable to print. They would show the printer initially, but when I clicked on the printer name, the icon would spin and eventually time out with the error, “No printer selected”. I updated to the latest Brother firmware (using the MacOS tool) and all of the stubborn iPads/iPhones worked again. I’ve no idea why some worked and others didn’t. Hope this will help someone out there. submitted by /u/GoldenRuleAlways [link] [comments]

“Recent” tag next to the number of someone who has blocked me

We never called each other, only texted. It was a good few months ago now too, so not like that was even recent. I don’t have this even with people I do call regularly. Does anyone know why this could be there? I should say idk if I’m still blocked, but last time I tried to send a text I was, I definitely haven’t seen any call or anything from them though and I haven’t tried to contact their number in that time. submitted by /u/hailhail7 [link] [comments]
