I am running W10 and have direct lan connection to my router. On just one of my PCs a very odd thing has been happening recently. If I use the "Network Speed Test " app it only records a download of about 3.5mbps although the up speed is 45mbps - however if I use the Ookla app the up and down speeds are each about 97mbps. The "Network Speed Test" app seems however to work just fine on all other PCs - I have tried un-installing and reloading the app but it makes no difference and the down speed never gets above about 4mbps but the up speed is pretty fast - Not so long ago the down speed recorded OK -so is there any logical reason for the change in the speeds now bei…

I just uploaded all the pictures from my phone to my pc so I could clear them off the phone. I’m trying to sort them into folders. I select a bunch holding control and left click all the pics I want. But when I paste them into a new folder for some reason it has made a whole load of copy’s into new folder and original space? Sorry for such a basic question but I never thought copy & paste would be so awkward for such a simple operation! Any solutions so I can use the normal cut copy paste that I’m so used to in windows 7 etc etc!? Thanks!

Been using outlook for years, so much that when I got my own house I set up folders for important house documents, forum IDs and passwords, financial things..and things for Dad, who sadly passed away a few years ago. Anyway, Outlook then started to tell me a few weeks ago that they think someone had signed into my account from an unauthorised device, and blocked me unless I gave them the last 3 emails I sent along with the subject headings...........who actually knows what the titles and last 3 emails they sent actually are??? They told me it was investigated, with contact going to another email i dont usually use. They have now told me after roughly 3 attempts t…

I have 2 win 7 Pro machines , which up to a couple of months ago worked fine. A restart of one of the machines ( PC1 ) resulted in not being able to see a shared folder on (PC 2), despite looking on several forums and several guaranteed fixit ideas it still fails to see it . You can ping it from the machine, you can also share ( PC 2) with a different Pc , also on win 7. Both are on the same network , permissions have been given to all. Has anyone else had this issue ?

Hello to my friends at freepchelp! Just a quick question this morning.. My MalwareBytes ran out awhile back, but I still had Rogue Killer on my desktop from a previous "cleaning" via this site.. I was wondering if Rogue Killer could be used in place of MBAM...?? I keep getting these short "trial period" setUps on MBAM and am getting tired of this, over and over.. Please advise if Rogue Killer will work as well or hopefully even better.....:) Thanks!

I have got the W7 desk-top back. It was working fine and we left it to update. Quite a few MBytes to download. When it was finished-an hour plus later-it would not connect with the router. I think it did on a couple of occasions but not consistently. I am typing this on the W10 lap-top. Having read other posts I have been able to see the network adapters for the wireless thingy and the Realtec PCIe thingy under Device Manager. The tech has left Driver Easy on the desktop. What do you suggest? Oh BTW this is a fresh install of my original W7 Home Premium on the Desk-top. Jim.

Hey first post here. So I've lived with it for quite a while now but it still bugs me, i have the UK layout of the Asus Strix Flare keyboard and the keyboard settings under language options in Windows 10 says United Kingdom layout but for some reason the '|' and '¦' are in each others place to where they are printed on the keycaps. However the other symbol on each keycap is correct. I have also tried changing it to United Kingdom Extended but that did nothing. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Hi My memory stick is no longer recognized by my computer. My computer has been checked and all drivers are up to date etc. The stick has been checked and there is no physical damage. I have been told that to get my photos off this stick I will need to send it off as it is a highly specialized job which could cost 100's of pounds. My question is this. Is this my only option ? Can anyone recommend anyone or company to do this ? Thanks Lee

Hi all, I am trying to re-purpose an old router to create an access point to enable me to connect two internet things from the one ethernet cable but I am failing at the first hurdle. I have researched how to do it on youtube but when I try and find out my new routers IP address by typing in ipconfig in the computers search bar as soon as I hit the return button a black window with white writing on very quickly flashes up but then disappears, I know I need to read this window because it will have the ip address of my new router and I need that so I don't give the old router the same address when I re-configure it. Can anyone help on this matter please?

I have three pretty well identical Dell OptiPlex 755s and on two of them have updated the bios to A22 with no issues, The other still has A17 and I have downloaded the latest bios file and tried to update the PC using the self loading file but every time I run it I get a message saying the update has failed and "could not find firmware in memory". What can I do now? Will using a usb stick make any difference, I don't want to try it unless its safe. I think the old bios may be the cause of some other networking issues I am having with this particular machine.

I, I am having a problem which I think that many other people are having. I have Sky go on my Hudl 2 tablet. If I open any Sky sports channel, it works for varying seconds, the screen freezes, and a message appears saying, " error code 14 ". I rang Sky and they said that I needed to update my software system to over 5.0. I told them that my system was up to date, and I was running Lollipop 5.1. She put me on hold, came back and admitted that there was a problem with some makes of android tablets. She said that it was something to do with the app, and they were working on it. Apparently, this problem has existed for a while. I was wondering if I changed to OS Marshmall…
