Hi Guys: Due to badly corrupted registry etc. I was forced to carry out a clean factory reinstall. The actual recovery went well except that I am now unable to access my WiFi connection which I do via Ethernet. The hub is virginmedias latest and full WiFi .I have the WiFi network number plus password, my PC is not WiFi so I connect by Ethernet. I have gone through network and info selecting connect to a network, but no WiFi signals are being shown. With Virginmedia assist we did a full reset without a result, so they dropped out!!! My device manager is indicating both Ethernet controllers require drivers? I have attempted updates and PC search without success. To…

Dell Latitude laptop. I used it a couple of days ago to record a video using "screencastify" (a Chrome extension) and it was working fine then, but on a video call earlier today, my colleague could not hear me. To check it later, I recorded another 5 second screencastify but it's silent, so the problem is definitely at my end. I shut the laptop down, restarted it and tried again. Still not working. I checked Control panel > Hardware and sounds > Manage audio devices > Recording and it says that the device is working properly. But it's not. I have a cheap USB mic that I got for my previous laptop (when the mic on THAT failed!) I plugged it onto this lap…

Just wondering if anyone else has encountered the error below, when I use my bookmark to go to my Gmail page I get this error, when I search for the page and log in it seems to work, then I save it as a new bookmark and the next time I get this again. There is a "Try again" button below the error, when I click that it loads fine. Corrupted Content Error The site at Gmail has experienced a network protocol violation that cannot be repaired. The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because an error in the data transmission was detected. Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

Hi folks. I have tried the methods suggested using google but those have not worked. I have uninstalled their picture/photo software but the one they have used is not obvious and I have been unsuccessful. I've tried the 'default' way of choosing the program to use to open the image both in W10 and in irfanview but it switches back to the program they want you to use again. Very frustrating. Jim.

Hi Everyone. I have a couple of usb sticks that for some reason when I plug them in it sometimes shows up in "my computer" for a split second and then disappears. Then I get the egg timer as the cursor and I cant do anything until I remove the usb stick. Then the pc goes back to normal. I have other usb sticks that work perfectly but these two give this problem. I think they may be corrupt as I think I may have removed them while they were still open. Apart from throwing them in the bin, has anyone any ideas to try to get them to work?? Many Thanks. Bringe.

Yesterday I used windows 10 burner to burn somwe photo's on a Verbitem DVD to play in a dvd player. When I attempted to play them in my dad's dvd player the first photo came up but all the rest didn't. A notice coming up said error. Did I do something wrong? I didn't choose usb, but chose CD/DVD section when burning. This is frustrating, I'm not technically minded. I could see the photo's tiled on the TV screen, but they wouldn't play. So Now my next question is would one of these photo editing programmes work better? Sony Vegas Nero platinum Many thanks.

I really need some help here, I can't find anything online that addresses this specific issue I have. I need to install Windows 8.1 onto my Windows 10 laptop, but all the help I'm finding is either for people who want to revert to 8.1 after an upgrade, or it's referring to an out of date method. Can someone please help me? My laptop is a Lenovo Y50-70

There was a power outage where the servers are located in Chicago due to some severe weather. All sites were offline since yesterday at 1700CST. Power has been restored and the this site is online and operational. The other sites are still offline. One of the servers won't boot up. I am checking into it and will let everyone know when it is operational.

Hi, I have an external hard drive which I've been using for 8/9 years. It was set to automatically back up and created sets of back ups which I could enter and delete the oldest ones as space filled up. At the beginning of this year I backed up my Android phone to my pc before sending it away for repair - it was a large backup around 40Gb which meant I hadn't space to do anymore. I won't go into why I haven't done anything about the back ups since but a couple of days ago I deleted my phone back up from the pc and the old back ups on the external hard drive and did a fresh back up and couldn't believe it when it filled the hard drive again. Any ideas as to …

What Ho Chaps, My aged Samsung laptop finally gave up the ghost some months ago and have been using a tablet for "internety" things - till I inherited a rather nice Dell Inspiron lappy a couple of weeks ago. It's got an i3 and more than enough RAM thingummys to satisfy me - - only problem was it had W7 and so I thought I'd update it - so off I went to the Microsoft website to download W10. Yes I know they'd said free versions weren't available any more but I'd read if you update the media files it gives you access to the W10 update and so it proved. Anyhoo - - my new W10 OS is not (or appears not) to be behaving itself in that it freezes, crashes (i.e. black s…
