I use a tablet and a laptop. Both machines are really "asking" me to replace them; faults; age, etc. I was recently looking at "2 in 1" machines and wondered if there's a machine that has both Windows and android operating systems, obviously for use in the required mode. May well be a silly question, but I have to ask.

May I start by apologising for my absence from the forum. This has been due to some health, family and work issues, which has allowed me very little personal time. Due to a knee injury I'm now on very restricted work hours, which I'm pleased to report has given me more spare time than I have been used to in a long while.:D With this new freedom, I've started to use, explore and enjoy my digital camera. I has discovered that my camera can record full HD video, which gives very good results, more so when I remember to use my tripod. As a consequence I now have quite a few photo and video files that need editing. I currently run a dual boot setup (full system specs bel…

My Surface RT was exhibiting worn out battery syndrome - i.e. it a charge would only last less than a day so decided to change it. Having decided to change the battery it was how to get one - so I looked up several companies on Ebay and found one who could supply to me - Following the Utube tutorial it was pretty easy to change it but when I fired up found the new battery was dead - i.e. had no residual charge at all. Undaunted I tried charging but although it works it does not hold a charge any longer than the old battery I took out! The supplier was informed and gave me a full refund without any fuss but said they could not send a new battery to Spain for some postal…

Wait for Windows Update to ensure your hardware works properly, Microsoft says. http://i.imgur.com/UTLVXBL.jpg Microsoft would prefer it if you didn't try to install the Windows 10 Creators Update yourself. Instead, the company is encouraging everyone but advanced users to wait for the Creators Update to become available via Windows Update. That means workarounds for excited users, like the Media Creation Tool or the Windows Update Assistant, are discouraged. The reason for all this hesitation, according to Microsoft, is that the company wants to iron out any issues for specific hardware configurations before making the upgrade available to affected PCs via …

Windows' system files were flagged as malicious, and Facebook was marked as a phishing site. http://i.imgur.com/bv0ZRuR.jpg A malware signature update issued by the company on Monday triggered the software into mistakenly flagging Windows system files as malware, melting down millions of managed systems around the world. The problem began in the afternoon on the US east coast when the antivirus product began falsely marking those files as W32.Trojan.Gen, otherwise known as generic malware. That moved crucial system files essential to the operating system's effective functioning to quarantine, making them unavailable to Windows. A thread on the company's webs…

After a mysterious disappearance, Locky has reemerged -- and is borrowing attack techniques from Dridex. http://i.imgur.com/1zKT5Od.jpg The ransomware that drove last year's boom in file-encrypting malware is back, and this time it's even harder to detect. Ransomware cost its victims some $1bn during 2016, with Locky one of the most widespread variants, infecting organisations across the globe. However, the start of 2017 saw a sudden decline in the distribution of Locky, to such an extent that another form of ransomware -- Cerber -- has usurped Locky's dominance. But after being all but written off, Locky is staging a comeback. Cybersecurity researchers at …

Hello FreePChelp.... Hoping you are all well these days...! I've got an issue I wanted to talk to you about, and it is my hope that you have heard/seen these symptoms before and possibly know what the problem is right off.. The symptoms seem to be unique from anything I've seen before.. So, first of all, the computer appears to "freeze up" with the little blue circle rotating counterClockwise while this is going on.. Here is the interesting part.. Whenever I go to control/alt/delete it usually connects immediately when that window becomes active (listing the pages that are open in c/alt/del).. Sometimes there is a delay, but usually it comes right back on.. Does t…

After Today (April 11), Vista will be unsupported forever. http://i.imgur.com/6QfpKMc.jpg After April 11, 2017, Microsoft will no longer support Windows Vista: no new security updates, non-security hotfixes, free or paid assisted support options, or online technical content updates, Microsoft says. (Mainstream Vista support expired in 2012.) Like it did for Windows XP, Microsoft has moved on to better things after a decade of supporting Vista. As Microsoft notes, however, running an older operating system means taking risks—and those risks will become far worse after the deadline. Vista’s Internet Explorer 9 has long since expired, and the lack of any furth…
