First post, hope I am in right place. I have a laptop with 1000's pics that I would like to save and share. Would SD cards be suitable for doing this? Like to watch on tv and share with others on their tv. Are they reliable? Do I have to format card on laptop? If so would this render it useless on other laptops How long could I expect a sd card to last Mr and Mrs Zippy...........:rolleyes:

If I refresh my Windows 8.1 PC to factory settings and reinstall Windows 8.1, could somebody tell me whether the dreaded Windows 10 will automatically install before I have a chance to disable automatic updates? If Windows 10 does automatically load, is it still possible to revert back to Windows 8.1. Thanks, David

I have a conundrum, hoping someone is able to shed light on it. One of my friends knows someone who has an Apple Mac laptop, not recent, which is used mainly for typing and other basics, also some photo-editing. Apparently the laptop cannot be connected to the internet because "it has some illegal programs on it". Sounds bad! I don't have reason to think there is anything terrible on there - even so, it sounds very odd and I'm not sure the laptop owner is being straightforward about it. I don't know whether the programs were once downloaded from somewhere, or maybe copied from another computer (possibly without licences?). But even if that were so, would such…

On the whole I love w10 and edge BUT one thing driving me crazy is that when using Edge and I get a url or a telephone number I cannot simply copy and paste them - they always open an app or link. How do I disable those so I can simply copy a telephone number and past it into a document or something. I am not so worries abut URLs as they can be quite useful but the phone numbers are a real nuisance. there must e a simple switch somewhere to turn these facilities on or off - but where?

Infosec researcher has fun at a crook's expense Ivan Kwiatkowski, a security researcher living in France, has turned the tables on a tech support scammer and fooled him into installing a copy of the Locky ransomware on his own PC. Kwiatkowski's encounter with a tech support crew came after his parents had navigated to a dodgy website that tried to trick them into thinking they were infected with the Zeus banking trojan. "This horrible HTML aggregate had it all: audio message with autoplay, endless JavaScript alerts, a blue background with cryptic file names throwing us back to Windows' BSoD days, and yet somehow it displayed a random IP address instead of the vis…

Hi all Hope this is the appropriate place!! I get my internet via a BT landline, Sky Broadband and an old o2 wireless router (As stated am now on sky broadband but all been fine for years so why change to a new Sky router when all is fine!) Just a few minutes ago I lost internet connection briefly and the WPS button on my router continually flashed orange and then turned to red. The internet button on my router was dead but then came on after a period of rapid flashing and the WPS button has now stopped flashing completely. All now seems normal with no indication from my AV of anything amiss (AV Windows defender for my Windows 8.1) I have done a Google on this issue a…

Hi, I have an ISO file containing numerous sub files, and I want to change a couple of the values in one of those files. When I open an individual sub-file, it opens in Notepad, and I can change the values I want to change, but I cannot then save that changed file. On the help tutorials for PowerIso, it appears that I can delete or add a file, and I was wondering, do I have to create a new sub-file with the values changed, and then delete the old sub-file and add the new one. It just seems a long way of doing a simple change.......................but I don't know the answer.

Yesterday I attempted to build a £600 PC at home with parts I bought from Amazon. Here are the specs: GPU - EVGA GeForce GTX 960 SSC 4GB CPU - Intel Core i5 processor (previous model) PSU - EVGA 600W Cooler - CoolerMaster Hyper 212X Mobo - ASRock micro ATX, LGA1150 Socket, Intel B85 Express RAM - Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2*4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz Now, when I plug everything in and power it up, everything seems to work perfectly except my monitor gets no signal. The mouse and keyboard do though. I've spent hours reseating RAM sticks, resetting the CMOS battery, pretty much any solution I could find on the web. Out of the many times that I tried powering it up to test if …

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v708/starbuck50/avast-2016-logo-100625549-large_zps1eldltkg.png Users who have Avast’s antimalware solution on a PC with Intel microprocessors are reporting Blue Screens of Death (BSODs) when installing the Windows 10 Anniversary Update. Avast users report that when the AU process is kicked off, the PC will eventually crash with a “system thread exception not handled” error. The system then reverts to the previous version of Windows, forcing the user to re-download the update (if they hadn’t previously downloaded it to a USB stick) and begin the update process anew. I have a machine running Avast, and I had the same experience …
