How do I stop Windows Defender from deleting a file?
by Guest crash2029- 0 replies

I have downloaded a file that is not a virus or malware. It is zipped with 7zip. Every time I unzip it into a directory it is deleted in seconds. I have tried excluding the destination folder as well as excluding the zip file. I have shut down windows defender active protection and still it is deleted upon unzipping. I cannot exclude the file itself because widows defender does not recognize the file name. Any help would be appreciated. Continue reading...

I have Malwarebytes but it is out of date and every time I choose "update now", I get a prompt that reads "unable to reach database". I'm about at my wits end with this. Any suggestions? Windows Tech Support Phone Calls
by Guest Ken_Tul- 0 replies
I have been receiving calls from people claiming to be Microsoft Technical Support or Windows Technical Support. They stated that malware was being downloaded from the internet and that the Windows servers were picking up this unnecessary traffic. They quoted a unique id number which corresponded with the number shown in msconfig (I was offline at this stage - I had disconnected my wifi). They then wanted me to give them access via teamviewer. When I refused they threatened that Microsoft would revoke my license. They do not give up - we now just refuse to talk to them. What concerns me is the fact that they knew this unique id. Is there any way that this number can b…

Can Viruses spread while transferring Binary data via Winsock buffer stream across a network ? I have a backup server application running on a machine that is not shared and is not connected to the internet. My application's Client modules running on all machines connect via Sockets to the backup Server machine and transfer relevant data files. Assuming that the data files are not yet infected but Client machine EXE's are infected with Ransomware Virus will the data be safe on the unshared backup server machine ? My application is used on all Windows OS from XP upwards. Continue reading...
