  1. Thank you but given price diff I have gone for D Link one on amazon now. High Street too expensive really and I can wait. S
  2. Look it's simple. I got a wifi router for first time so that I could use my new iPad. Then discover mynold pb pc needs an Ethernet lead connection. This has failed continually. The router only works when set up via same lead with the other house pc, a dell which then allows iPad to function on the wifi.
  3. The pb does not have wifi capability itself hence using yellow Ethernet cable for the pc. Wont allow any wifi connections or lan connections on this pc. Only have the one lan i think. But can connect to iPad via wifi and pc when connected using dell pc. Does this answer your q? S
  4. Very interesting. Just had the side off and I could only see one card that was housed mainly in a black outer and this did indeed seem to be slightly out of it's footing at one end. However, this was inside the usual phone line port NOT inside the port used for the ethernet cable which is larger and the only one for it. S
  5. Thanks. Have tried two cables and all 4 ports with no success. I do think the network card may be faulty. Can I buy one of these at stores such as pc world and of so how much and are they easy to locate and replace inside? Or should I take whole unit in to be done on site? Thanks again. Stephen
  6. Hello all, I am having trouble connecting having bought into Orange wifi. For 4 weeks all was well, then we moved the pc 6 feet (hardwired to netgear) and it stopped working. I simply cannot get the IP address / wifi working since the LAN connection disappears. Cannot even log onto the website via 192.168.0.1 site to fix as does not recognise. Unfortunately the reboot (pin in hole underneath) does not work , nor does switching cable holes across the 4 available or turning on/off. Now, I have a packard Bell (5 years old). Howvere, I re-connect via another Dell pc in house (hard wire) and its fine on the pc and wifi to iPad. Then I wire it back to my PB pc and nothing, loses it again. Have tried 2 diff routers now as Orange sent me another. That seems fine so its in my pc - the problem. Have spent hours onto Orange who finally say they often have issues with their connections on Packard Bells (now they tell me) and they rec I get a new pc! Can it be fixed at all as I dont want to spend on a new pc? Thanks Stephen Note that I originally had this issue when first setting up 4 weeks ago but I disconnected the Firewall temp and it loaded and stayed ok after firewall put back on. Didnt work as a fix this time...
