  1. Hi Starbuck, Have run OTLPE again using what you recommended above, but again after running it for 3 hours, I checked task manager and it says that the programme in 'not responding'. Any more suggestions? Regards, Sarah.
  2. Hi starbuck, Waited 4 hours in the end, and then went to task manager and noticed that OTLPE was not responding. Any suggestions ? Regards, Sarah
  3. Will do Starbuck, thanks again for all your help. It is still stuck in the same screen, not seeming to be doing much, but it the meantime, I will transfer all the files I need onto my USB stick. Regards, Sarah.
  4. Hi Yer Starbuck, Really am appreciating all your help here. I haven't tried the task manager bit that you recently posted, as I thought I would go ahead with the bootable disc. I am following your instructions, and am currently in OTLPE, and have pressed Run Scan. It has run for quite some time (about 20 mins), and at the bottom it says Scanning Users StartMenu, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. Do you think that it is doing something and I should just leave it, if so, how long do you suggest I leave it for, before I realise that it's not really doing anything, Lol !!! Thanks Sarah.
  5. Hi there, by doing the above i can get to task manger, what do you suggest i do from here. Many thanks sarah
  6. Hi Jellybean, In response to the above, pressing f8 takes me to the screen where i can start in safe mode etc, but as mentioned previously, this doesn't work. f10, takes me to the bios setup but nothing changes here. and holding f11 as told by ehow, doesn't work either. and neither does holding down f12. so, i'm going to wait for a reply on what to do if i go to task manager. many thanks. sarah
  7. sorry I'm getting a bit confused now, I had 3 replies telling me to do 3 different things. lol confused.com. someone mentioned task manager. I can get task manager, so what shall i do with that. cheers. sarah
  8. Hi, Have tried pressing F11 repeatedly, but nothing happens, it carries on loading Windows. Any other ideas? Regards, Sarah.
  9. I can't remember exactly but I believe that I may have bought the PC in 2006 or 2007, is there anyway, I can find out from the computer itself?
  10. Hi, tried all the above jellybean, and nothing works. I get the boot option when i press f8, and have tried to use last known good config, but this didn't work either. I am working from another laptop at the moment, so can burn discs if needed. Regards, Sarah
  11. Hi i don't have any discs, I'm afraid. what does msconfig do?
  12. I believe it is a virus, as my husband had somebody access his bank account and do a transfer. And I did all my online banking on the infected laptop.
  13. Hi, been into BIOS and changed to default settings, and same thing has happened. Same messages appear again as I have typed in my previous mails. I don't have a recovery disc. I have burnt OTL onto a disc and tried to boot the Laptop using the disc, but that didn't work either. Regards, Sarah.
  14. Hi, I chose safe mode with networking, and pressed enter. The first message i got was: lsass.exe - unable to locate component WITH This application has failed to start because msls52.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. I pressed OK then I got the following message: services.exe - Unable to locate Component with This application has failed to start because msls52.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. I pressed OK then it took me through to my password screen. I entered my password and pressed OK. Then another message appeared: userinit.exe - Unable to locate Component with This application has failed to start because msls52.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. I pressed OK then another message: Explorer.EXE - unable to locate component with This application has failed to start because msls52.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. I pressed OK I then go to a black screen with Safe Mode written in each corner of the screen and at the top it says: Microsoft ® Windows XP ® (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.090206-1233: Service Pack 2) it stays on this screen and does nothing else - I have given it 10 minutes now, and still nothing. Any further help, would be very greatly appreciated. Warmest Regards, Sarah.
