No can do it's a private email system, part of the organisation for which I work. Hence its free. The system administrator confirms there is nothing wrong at his end and the settings are correct and has no solution. Please note I'm based at home so he is many miles away
What you say is partly true but, for example, gmail and hotmail, both free, can both receive and send through Outlook (pop3/smtp) irrespective of the ISP like my private network.
So any ideas on what could block port 10?
