  1. I've confused myself. Cannot be Orange as the settings work on another of my computers. So it has to be something on the original computer.
  2. Thanks Synapse - however port 10 did work and now it doesn't. All others in the organisation use the same settings. I've assumed the problem has to be on the PC. I can't see Orange suddenly changing their protocols.
  3. Be assured all the settings are correct. They work on another PC which can send. Also have now run scanpst with no effect.
  4. No can do it's a private email system, part of the organisation for which I work. Hence its free. The system administrator confirms there is nothing wrong at his end and the settings are correct and has no solution. Please note I'm based at home so he is many miles away What you say is partly true but, for example, gmail and hotmail, both free, can both receive and send through Outlook (pop3/smtp) irrespective of the ISP like my private network. So any ideas on what could block port 10?
  5. Internet access is Orange. The mail provider is Alburia. As I said others have the same Outlook configuration with no problem, unless Orange have an SMTP problem, but Gmail works fine. Office Professional = Outlook 2003 At the top of my post I said XP Home, my profile says Win 7 but I have other PC's and friends.
  6. XP Home Have an Outlook account which is authenticated and secure with POP3 going via port 995 and SMTP going via port 10 to the same server, mail.domain.net. Outlook receives emails but no longer sends them. It tries to but they just stay in the outbox. Have set up account in Outlook Express - same result Have set up totally new user in XP - same result. Have tried Safe Mode with Networking - same result. Also Windows Firewall turned off. BUT the settings all work from a Blackberry & other users on the domain confirm settings are correct and have no problems. Finally have also run CCleaner & Malwarebytes. So - any thoughts appreciated
