As for physical memory: Total 522,672 Avail 285, 528 Cache 270,644 At the time there were 42 processes running (outlook webmail, a webpage, adobe pdf and word doc open) and cpu usage was 2%. Help. My laptop (Sony Viao 2 yrs old, with 60G hard driver, 27G available) is now very slow, to the point where it is almost unusable sometimes. It's very slow when staring up and then when running, slow to open / change applications. Then when I try anything with sound - iTunes, Skype, audio files from web - the sound quality is terrible, grating / staccato / metallic. Any pointers where to start?
