  1. Hey everyone, I have been trawling Google for an solution to this problem but haven't found any answers as yet. I have been here before and people were super helpful and knowledgeable so I wondered if anyone has any ideas, as I'm stumped. I am using a Hewlett Packard - Compaq Presario CQ70 laptop running Windows vista Home Basic (SP1) connecting via wireless router. I can connect to the net with no problems. The issue occurs only when the connection dips, I can't reconnect unless I reboot. I have local access only until I restart the laptop. Even when I try to connect manually it will never reconnect. I get the message "Connection to the network is taking longer than usual" Then; "Connection unsuccessful" We have another laptop running from the same connection, so I have eliminated the possibility of this being a router problem, it is definitely my laptop (it does the same thing with other routers on different connections also). So I don't know what the problem could be.. any help will be much appreciated as I am now getting tired of seeing the boot screen ha. Thanks in advance for any help.
  2. yeah I have come across this solution but I do not have system restore running, so not an option.
  3. Yeah I checked the link, it does not appear to be hidden. I have tried everything suggested but nothing has resolved the issue so far. The only thing I haven't tried is going into the BIOS, I'm not even sure how to get in.. There is no message that says press "x" key to enter BIOS. When I go to device manager and scan for hardware changes it does nothing, if I expand the Battery tab it shows only Microsoft AC adapter. ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery is not listed. Plus I downloaded the driver from a link someone sent me on another forum, but I am not entirely sure what to do with it (noob). In the vista32 folder there are: 2KSETUP.EXE 2KSETUP.INI AsusSetup.exe AsusSetup.ini atk0100.cat ATK0100.INF ATKACPI.SYS What do I do with these files? Thanks so much for your help, much appreciated. Any ideas? Thanks for the help, keep em coming.
  4. Here are some specs: *Windows vista Home Basic (SP1) *Hewlett Packard - Compaq Presario CQ70 *Processor:Intel Pentium Dual CPU T3400 @2.6GHz *2.00GB RAM *32-bit OS Anything else that would help? Thanks.
  5. Hello everyone, I am at a loss as to how to fix this problem so looking for help/advice on how to proceed; I accidentally deleted the Microsoft ACPI compliant control method battery driver from device manager: as a result the battery icon is no longer showing up in my system tray, and my laptop will no longer run on battery power, I can not find a replacement driver. Could anyone offer any advice? I have searched the internet to no avail, I have no system restore file, so this is not an option. Can I download the driver from anywhere? Thanks in advance.
