  1. Have used another Flash drive in my laptop, and it works, no problem. What I do not understand is that when I insert the Maxell flash drive in my laptop, and then go into Device Manager, it states that the device is working properly. But when in go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management, I cannot see the flash drive at all. Also, when I look at the flash drive properties, form within Device Manager, I am not seeing any details relating to size of flash, flash available, flash used etc. Notice that the flashing red LED on the flash drive is now longer showing when plugged into the laptop. Is it a case of a hardware failure of the flash drive. If so, why does Device Manger properties for the flash state that the device is working properly ? Would appreciate any thoughts, as I need to recover some files from the flash drive. Thanks, Rnbmotown
  2. Hello, I would just like to ask for some help with my Maxell 8GB flash drive. I was working fine up to a yesterday, when I used it. The problem now is that my laptop, which is running Windows XP, cannot see the flash drive. When I insert the flash drive in my laptops USB drive, its is showing in Windows Explorer. But when I try to open it up it does not recognise the device in the removeable drive that is created. I have gone into Device Manager and checked out the USB drive and controllers, but everything states that the device is working properly. I have gone into Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management, and the flash drive just is not showing up from there. When I go into the Removeable drive properties, from Device Manager, no MBR, flash drive size, flash drive spaced available details are to be seen. It's just displaying zero, or nothing at all. I am not now receiving any flash drive LED activity when it is connected to the USB drive. It is definately not my laptop because I first decovered the problem when I connected my flash drive to a friends computer, which was also running Windows XP, and it came up with the same problem. I am wondering whether it is the actual USB drive itself which is at fault. If it is, is there a fix to this problem ? As I have got some important files on the Flash Drive, I would appreciate all the help I can get to fix the problem. Regards, Rnbmotown
