The graphics card on my dell dimension e521 desktop has given up the ghost. I have been given a Nvidia geforce 8600gt by a friend, but unfortunately this requires an extra 6 pin pci express power supply. The only spare power supply cables in my desktop are 1 sata power supply and the floppy drive power cable. My question is can i get a cable to convert either of the spare leads to the 6 pin needed for the card? If not, will I have to invest in an upgraded power supply with the required lead, or will i have to get a different graphics card? Thanks in advance for any assistance.
