thanks for the warm welcome kenb yeah, it was part of the college intranet the 2 cables were taken out of my xbox360 to connect to the net

hi guys this is the probs... my RM (windows xp pro - pentium4) machine from our local college, cant ' see ' my router even tho its connected directly to the router by cat5 cables(2 cos of the distance) i was told that i cannot network it, so... do i need software (free if poss) or is it just a few adjustments to the pc?? i've looked for the i p addy-and all i can find is = ip addy - 0.0.0.0 submask - 0.0.0.0 over you the profesionals...
