I am no expert myself but I had this problem a while back. I looked around the internet for program deleters and found a program called "Unlocker" (has an icon of a magic wand). I used it to delete all the programs and files that were affected (failed to run Java) and then just reinstalled them from scratch again. It works fine now. I don't know how reliable this method is, so maybe before going ahead with it, an administrator may give his say on the method? Also, I use Avast free antivirus. It seems to do the job just perfectly and it is easy to use. Just do a boot time scan with high sensitivity every now and then and also when you suspect something and it should sort you out.

I strongly recommend Avast. It is easy to understand and does what you'd expect one to do. The free version works perfectly fine. I also have a netbook with Windows Starter, it came with so many Toshiba already installed programs that are just annoying. I'm considering upgrading the Windows just because of how restrictive Windows starter is, I can't even change my wallpaper!

How to create a remote network administrator??
snodge182 replied to snodge182's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
OK, I understand all your points, but seriously even if you don't believe it I'm not a spy. If I were then I wouldn't be asking straight out like this with a story, I'd be studying computer books instead as I wouldn't like to be seen as anything to do with a hacker. Obviously this has escalated to a point where everyone thinks I'm a wannabe hacker no matter how I try and describe the predicament. I don't get along with the girl anymore but I think I should warn her if her step dad still has access over her computer that she doesn't know about because she could end up showing him more than he should see. I can completely understand how you think I am a hacker though so fair enough and again, fair point I wouldn't like for information on how to hack a computer to be broadcasted on the internet for other people to see. I just didn't realise until the last few posts that actually its what hackers do. My intentions were truly honest I promise you, but as I said I don't want anyone to help now because it is a form of hacking, of which I am completely against. In the beginning of this forum I didn't understand that it was hacking because I just purely painted out the scenario to you of my predicament, not thinking much about its context. Again thank you for the replies etc, but I now understand and do not want to carry this on further, even if it is my own computers, I would prefer not to involve myself with hacking, I just urged myself to investigate how private our camera sessions, file transfers etc were with her step dad being the remote admin. I leave it as they weren't very private at all, and so I shall warn her and put no more effort into finding out for myself, I'm a "have to see it to believe it" sort of person but on this occasion I would just believe it now, as I don't want anything to do with hacking. Sorry if this forum has brought up any reason to believe that I am untruthful. Snodge182. -
How to create a remote network administrator??
snodge182 replied to snodge182's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Actually yeah that makes perfect sense, I wasn't intending on using it harmfully/maliciously but yeah I can understand. Thank you for all your help so far guys. Maybe one last thing though, if he was to discretely log on to her laptop could he view live feed such as both our webcams or her watching youtube videos, without us knowing? -
How to create a remote network administrator??
snodge182 replied to snodge182's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
I don't mind messing around with admin stuff on my laptop especially because it has nothing of use on it and I can just easily restore it from backed up hard drives etc. This logmein thing looks like it isn't discrete, however my ex's stepdad left no trace on her laptop that he was the admin other than telling her himself. Is logmein the software that can do that? -
How to create a remote network administrator??

I have posted it before yes, but if you noticed, there aren't any replies at all. I figured if I delete that one and re post, then it would be like refreshing it. The only thing is the other one didn't delete so I'll try deleting it again now. -
How to create a remote network administrator??
snodge182 replied to snodge182's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
I am asking how, and want to do it with my own laptop/computer firstly because I want to see for myself what he was able to do (see us on our webcams, see what websites we were doing etc) and secondly for the development of computer knowledge that I have, for example if my dad asked me to set up a network for his office with this included or such like then I would have a bit of experience behind me. I can see why this seems fishy and can safely say that I am not malicious or anything like that. Also, could it be possible that she only had the one user showing up on her netbook because he had hidden the administrator for her netbook somehow? -
How to create a remote network administrator??
snodge182 replied to snodge182's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
The laptop i am trying to remotely administrate is windows xp, the computer i'm trying to administrate it from has a choice of either windows 7 or windows xp... I'm not sure if thats what happened between them but all I remember is seeing that her little netbook had only one user on it and it wasn't an administrator and that her step dad was the administrator from another computer. -
Hi, A while back I was dating a girl, she had a laptop with windows xp on it and i had a laptop with windows xp on it. Her step dad often helped her fix her laptop. He had her laptop so that there was only one account on it which wasn't even an administrator but he was the administrator for it from another computer. They shared the same network, although his was ethernet and hers was through wireless wifi. I have a computer and my laptop and I was wondering how I could have it so that my computer was the administrator for my laptop like he was with her laptop. I have looked all over the internet but can't understand any of this stuff. Please help me and please try to make it more understandable for me, i'm not very good with computers etc.

Graphics card compatibility with pc
snodge182 replied to snodge182's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
I've measured it and it's approximately 1mm taller than the PCI-Express, if this is alright then would the specs be alright for firmware/drivers etc? -
Hi, I have a computer with motherboard: 'P5G41C-M LX' The motherboard has a 'E3400 2.6 GHz processor'. I also have a 500GB SATA hardrive from Seagate. I have 4GB of DDR3 RAM And I have a 450W Power Supply, model number: 'ATX-450' I was wondering if this computer would be compatible with a 'SAPPHIRE TECHNOLOGY Radeon HD 6770 Flex - 1 GB GDDR5 - PCI-Express 2.1 (11189-02-20G)'? snodge182 replied to snodge182's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum

Sound card audio chip not present?
snodge182 replied to snodge182's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Ok i did exactly that and have found that i am still in the same situation. What does this box mean? Surely a chip would be inbuilt to the sound card? -
