So, after fixing our family's virus ridden computer, and making it work a treat, it now freezes at the start up screen (the little blue bar just stops)
I can work on it in safe mode with networking, and I had a look at some of the things I installed for it to work.
My guess is that it's the graphics card. I install the driver, make it work, computer reboots, that happens. I go into safe mode, disable it and use the intergrated, it works fine. Well, fine for a computer using intergrated.
My graphics card is a HD Radeon 4650, ATI Radeon HD 4650 - Graphics Cards - Peripherals - Reviews - PC & Tech Authority, on of those old AGP powerhorse things.
Anyway, we got it from a computer technician, who sold it to us, and installed it.
The fact is, the graphics card requires 400W to run. Having a look at our CPU, the max output is 250W.
Could that be why?
Also, when I try to run the Catalyst Control Center for my graphics card WHILE IN SAFE MODE, I get this message
'could not load file or assembly 'sorttbls.nlp' or one of its dependencies catalyst'.
Turns out the 'sorttbls.nlp' is part of .NET framwork 2.
So I installed all of that again, about five times, while using the intergrated graphics.
Seeing as I only get that message in safemode, I'm just assumming that .NET framework doesn't work in safemode.
I'd really appreciate your help guys.
But just to recap, because this has been an awfully confusing post, my problem is that:
My computer freezes at the boot up screen for XP Pro, while using my graphics card.
